The cast & crew of the new DC Comics spin-off series "Peacemaker" (filming under the working title of "The Scriptures") spent the last couple of days filming scenes at a quiet residential street in Port Moody, about 1/2 hour outside of Vancouver. I cant be entirely sure, but I THINK this is the first ever set I have worked in Port Moody. The series, based on the character Peacemaker, who will be featured in the upcoming Suicide Squad 2 movie (directed by James Gunn), was given a series order by HBO Max several months before the film even drops. With James Gunn also directing the series, and WWE superstar John Cena attached as the star, there is hope this less PC style comic based show will be a hit for HBO Max in a way similar to how The Boys has been a shining example for Amazon. On this day, John was on set shooting a scene as a civilian, and not in his Peacemaker attire. Unsure if they will be giving him the same name he has in the comics of Christopher Smith. He was shooting a scene where he walks up to a house, and then gets in an argument with Auggie Smith, played by Robert Patrick. From where I was, about 1/2 a block away I could only hear what Cena was saying, and it was not pleasant. They did a couple variations of the dialogue, with Cenas character calling him an "old F***" at the end of it. Also on set, was the director of course, James Gunn, who I saw a couple times conversing with John between takes. There was also a flag pole with a U.S. flag on it upside down. When I first got there, they had a cab from the fictional area of Charlton County, Washington (a nod to the original owners of the Peacemaker comics, Charlton Comics which DC bought in the 1980s... funny enough there is a Charlton County, but it is in Georgia). Also at the house was the car Peacemaker will have, which was covered in a U.S. flag design. From where I was, I could only see the back of it, with its "PSS MKR" license plate. But I did see a photo some person in the neighborhood had of the side of it with the re& white stripe design going across the car to the front hood, where a blue hood was covered in white stars, similar to the American flag. During his breaks, John walked around a lot, and constantly waved & gave the peace sign to the 2 photographers that were there (myself & a pap). Despite 2 crew members who were under the delusion they were going to stop us, (and under the delusion that he didnt want to be photographed, despite the multiple times he waved & gave peace signs.) we did of course get some photos. It was not a fun experience for them as shown below. Peacemaker will also star Danielle Brooks, Steven Agee, Chris Conrad, Annie Chang, and Chukwudi Iwuji PEACEMAKER will air on HBO Max at an unknown date. When I get more posts on it, they will be in this blog section. So check back occasionally for any further updates.

The cast & crew of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist was filming scenes back in October, 2020 for season 2 at the Vancouver Art Gallery. A popular filming spot in Vancouver that has been used by more or less every major project in Vancouver at one point or another. While there was also some filming inside later in the day, in the early part of the day they shot a scene out on the steps of the North end of the Gallery. In the scene Jane Levy as Zoey Clarke, comes down the steps, joins Andrew Leeds as David Clarke, then proceed to sit on the steps and talk for a very long scene. Unfortunately I did not get to stay at that set long, as I had somewhere else I actually was on my way to at that time. So I only stuck around for about 4 or 5 takes of the scene. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "LEGENDS OF TOMORROW" SEASON 6 EPISODE #unknown, AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON.

If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. The cast & crew of Legends Of Tomorrow was filming earlier this week at Central Park, in Burnaby. It is a frequently used location for shows. From Arrow, to The Flash, to Once Upon A Time, and many more have all used it repeatedly, along with Legends themselves. There was 2 scenes shot there today. One I did not wait around for later in the afternoon, as the weather was awful, and there wasnt somewhere to sit down, stay dry and wait. So I just watched them shoot some of the first scene, then left. But another local saw some of the 2nd scene shot. So here is 1 of their posts from that set. Here is a short clip she shot, she also has a few photos on her IG from it too if you go there. But I chose this post to show. It has Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory, walking with Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe doing a scene with apparently some armed troopers following behind them.
For the scene I shot, they had Nick Zano as Nate Heywood, and Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe shooting a scene.
They shot this scene from a couple different angles, which is why in some photos it appears I am behind them, even though I never went anywhere. They do this sometimes when they want a particular view for the wider shot, but then, for the closer shots, they maybe want/need something different. So in the scene, the pair are walking through a large grass field (which by the way was only slightly more solid than a swamp from all the rain, they had to use 100s of boards to create walk ways for the equipment to get out there) looking for something, when Nate slows down, and Ava walks forward. Eventually Ava finds what they are looking for when she its it head first. She then checks her head for a second, as the pair realize they have found the invisible thing they are looking for, and eventually back away from it, before looking up in the sky, as if they are watching it take off. What is the invisible thing they were looking for? Nate has some device in his hand that he seems to be using to help them in this search. The Waverider? An alien ship? As I said about how gross the field was, in 1 take, Jes lost a shoe, as it got sucked into the mud, and she continued on with the take balancing on 1 foot till they called cut. Then held on to Nick for balance till an assistant could get her show back to her. I have seen scenes cut for far less than that, but to the credit of Jes, she powered through it and did everything she could to make it possibly work. This scene was still going on when I decided to leave. Like I said, it was a gross gross day out there. So this was all I had to offer you from this set... but I have added in some of the other stuff I photographed there that day..... mainly some ducks & squirrels or chipmunks (I still dont know the difference, despite being told dozens of times, and am too lazy to check now despite being on the internet). If I file a takedown notice on you, it really is on you for not educating yourself. If you are confused on how many you can post, ASK FIRST, and I will let you know. Tuesday I went back to the set for the Freeform hit series Motherland Fort Salem, in downtown Vancouver at a location thats been used by many productions throughout the years, the Plaza Of Nations. The episode is directed by Nimisha Mukerji. On this day, they were using the same stage they used in the early part of Mondays shoot in this blog post. But this time, they had more cast on set. Taylor Hickson as Raelle Collar, Ashley Nicole Williams as Abigail Bellweather, Jessica Sutton as Tally Craven, joined Lyne Renee as Sarah Alder this time on set. Along with them, was two newcomers. Joining the cast you are all familiar with was 2 newcomers, Mellany Barros (thanks to twitter users for figuring it out, I had not come up with the name at first) as an unknown yet singer. As well, an actor some will recognize from The Boys as "Cindy" the super powered asylum escapee from this past season, Ess Hödlmoser, as another yet unknown character. It was funny, because I looked at Ess a few times thinking "I know her from something", but assumed it was another Vancouver production, and not 1 of the top shows out there. The scene in its entirety sees the group, along with a few other people in the same uniforms come out to the stage. The leads standing on stage with Mellany. Eventually Mellanys character goes up to the podium & makes a loud, long (quite frankly uneasy to listen to) groan/moaning sound. Then she leaves and stands back, as Sarah walks up to the mic. Sarah calls what she said as a "song" and goes on to talk for a couple minutes, before a young Asian actress who I do not have an ID for yet walks up to the stage, and is booed by protesters that were off to the left of the stage (to my right). The girl was taken by a main in a suit up to the stage, where Tally takes her to the back of the stage, before returning to stand to the side of Abigail. Raelle in that time, moves to where Tally was originally standing, to the side of Sarah. Sarah then turns to talk with Raelle. A moment later, several protesters break thru the barricades, and "throw" (they didnt physically do it in the takes I was there for, just made the motions) things at the stage. The group all ducked for cover, eventually slowly rising back up, giving a variety of intense glares of anger towards the group. I know a few of the fans will wonder where these new scenes match up with the days before. Its unclear. They clearly are not in immediate order, as when we saw Sarah in the first days set, she was busy being interviewed by a news crew without the rest of the cast on stage. So whether thats before, or after this, is unknown. As well, the protest groups were filmed on different sides each day. The right side of the stage protesters on Monday with Amalia & Demetria in the crowd, the left side crowd, which seemed to not include any cast, on Tuesday. After that scene they went on their lunch break, and I called it a day, even though there probably was still a little exterior filming to do. Monday I was lucky enough to stumble across the set for the Freeform hit series Motherland Fort Salem, in downtown Vancouver at a location thats been used by many productions throughout the years, the Plaza Of Nations. The episode is directed by Nimisha Mukerji. This was the first time I had made it to a location for this show. In season 1, I had not heard of it, so the couple times I crossed paths with it, I didnt stick around. On this day they were filming a scene at a place made to look like a U.S. Armed Forces building. In the early morning scene, they had Lyne Renee as Sarah Alder doing a scene, where she comes out from behind a stage, followed by a news crew, and several older women that stay down below, as Sarah, and the news crew go up onto the stage. As Sarah is heading to the stage, she gives an unimpressed glare off to her right, where a plethora of protesters are standing. Once up on stage, she does a very quick interview with a reporter, then the news crew leaves, and a few moments later Sarah leaves, again giving a glare at the group of protesters off to the side of the stage. After that scene, they spent the rest of their exterior shoot working on scenes for the protest scene. First they shot some scenes of a bus showing up that had a banner on it that said "Not Our Daughters" on it. The protesters on the bus join the crowd that is already there, as they continue chanting. Later a second vehicle, a winnebago, showed up that said "Save Our Sisters" on it. But they never filmed (at leas ton this day) anyone getting out of that vehicle. A little later they did more scenes with the crowd, but this time there were other cast members on site. The first person I saw was Demetria McKinney as Anacostia Quartermain. At the time I thought she had a face tattoo, as I was looking at her through the little 2 inch screen on my camera. As it turned out, its a print she has on a face shield she is wearing on set (I have been to several sets post-pandemic re-starting, and this is the first one I had seen using face shields as the standard. Most just use masks, except for the hair & make up team). Amalia Holm as Scylla Ramshorn was also on set, but not being familiar with the show, I did not realize that till I got home and could see the photos on a larger screen. It was hard to really say what they were doing in the scene, as they were mostly obstructed by the crowd, the signs, and crew. The rare time I did see them, it was for a fraction of a second, and only partially. Most of the time when I did see them, it was between takes. After that scene they moved inside for some interior shooting. They returned the next day to shoot more, and I will have another post on that in the upcoming days, that has more cast. Since this is my first post about this show, I just want to re-iterate, if you plan to post photos from this set on social media platforms, you ABSOLUTELY should familiarize yourself with my photo usage policy (its the link in the red text paragraph near the top). Motherland: Fort Salem season 2 will air on Freeform in the U.S. sometime in 2021. **ORIGINALLY POSTED IN MY NOW DEFUNCT OLYMPICS BLOG ON FEBRUARY 26, 2010** Last week, talk show/comedian host Stephen Colbert brought his incredibly popular show, "The Colbert Report" to Vancouver, BC during the 2010 Winter Olympics. His shows were set up after a minor scuffle broke out between Colbert, and the people of BC over his reference to Canadians as "syrup suckers" & "ice holes" on his program when he was trashing us for not letting the U.S. Speed Skating team (which Colbert is a major sponsor of, with the help of his fans known as "Colbert Nation" thru a donation campaign) have ample time to practice on the new Richmond Oval rink prior to the Olympics. Stephen set up an impromptu stage in the middle of Creekside Park, just off to the side of Science World (currently Sochi World for the Olympics) & did segments for several shows (airing this week in Canada on CTV & The Comedy Network. As well in the U.S. on Comedy Central) infront of an often rabid audience of 4 to 6 thousand fans & onlookers. I of course am a huge fan of his show, unfortunately I saw very little of the performances because it did directly interfere with my work. I did catch a few minutes at the end of his first day & listened to most of his 2nd day opening. But for the first part, the episodes airing this week are all but a mystery to me since I didnt really get to see them, but I certainly did hound them. The first day Mr. Colbert showed up at about 10:15 AM, being driven in a tinted out minivan. Security drove him up as close to the walkway they had constructed as they could. Still being 50 or so feet away, Colbert had to walk thru a swarm of fans, overzealous security & of course 5-8 autograph hounds. Not once did Stephen seem bothered by the near mob like situation, happily signing & walking, signing some more, walking some more. He was clearly a class act. Once inside he stayed in a tented off area to rehearse his lines & then came out to do his shows. Next time I would see him would be after the show when I returned looking for more. After the show he was hurried thru by the security, but did sign 2 autographs along the rail of the pathway they had created. Both were for hounds, 1 of them being for me. I was pleased with my opening day totals of 3. Next day I returned with fresh new photos from the day before performance. I was pretty hopeful to strike Colbert hounding Gold again. But this time he didnt sign before his show. Instead hurrying right in & going to his tent. He then went to the stage & did his opening performance. When he came off in between performances, I noticed the wooden plank type set up they had constructed behind the stage so that he didnt have to walk in the swamp like mosh pit the park had become. It mainly was a few feet away from the fence, except right in the corner I was in, where it bottlenecked. So I had hope I might get his attention coming back. Sure enough, he walked out of the tent to go do his next bit, I asked him to sign, and he did it without hesitation, then hurried off to the stage. A little later he did the same thing, going to his tent & upon his return came right back to the spot where I was standing. Now more people were eager to try & get an autograph from him. The attention getter of the group, a fan who asked Stephen to sign an actual baby. Stephen smiled & replied in partial laughter "I cant sign a baby" as he chuckled for a second or two afterwards to the suggestion. He willingly did signin 3-4 autographs for the people there, including me again, then proceeded to do his show. After his show was over, he did a massive impromptu autograph session all the way around the stage side, along the back & out the walk way. I got 2 more in this massive scrum. I was pretty pleased with the final numbers, 7 Colbert autographs over 2 days. Stephen Colbert will certainly be a medalist at the 2010 Winter Olympics, in the sports of autograph signing & good public relations. ![]() THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "LEGENDS OF TOMORROW" SEASON 5 EPISODE 05 TITLED "MORTAL KHANBAT", AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. The cast & crew of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow were on location for the 1st episode of the season last week in the Gastown area of downtown Vancouver. This was of course the first location shoot for the show since returnign to film after the entire industry shut down in March for COVID-19. Legends was lucky enough to evade the pitfalls of having to shut down mid-season, but like everyone else, had their new seasons filming delayed until October. In the prolonged off season, a few notable things happened with Legends, from Shayan Sobhian and Olivia Swann getting bumped to regulars, to Maisie Richardson Sellers announcing her departure, to co-lead Dominic Purcell announcing he contracted the deadly COVID-19 back in June. On set this day, the cast consisted of Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory, Tala Ashe as Zari 2.0, Matt Ryan as John Constintine, Olivia Swann as Astra Logue, Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe, and Shayan Sobhian as Behrad Tarazi. The opening scene saw the cast, minus Shayan go out in a downpour to do rehearsals. By the time they came back out to shoot the scene, the weather had tapered off enough that it was at times completely dry, and rarely more than a soft sprinkle. The scene seemed to be a continuation from the season finale, as all the characters were still wearing their wardrobes from the final scene of the finale.... except now, it was daytime, where as the season ended at night. The group is walking down the street together, while Astra is appearing to be counting something that I can only assume is supposed to be a currency of some type. After that scene, they shot a scene with just Shayan, and a man dressed as a British Queens Guard. Behrad has some type of food item in his hand, and converses (well, talks to the guard) while eating, before turning away & leaving there. The final public scene they shot had the group from the 1st scene, run into Behrad, and the group then have a conversation with the 5 standing on 1 side, Behrad on the other. Shortly after that scene, they wrapped that location & moved the entire production 2 blocks up the street to the often used Burrard Ironworks building, whic is easily 1 of the 10 most commonly used buildings in Vancouver filming. Unfortunately, its almost always interior shoots there, so I cant really say what happened in those scenes. But it is generally used to represent small bars, as it has a lounge on the lower floor, or interiors of an apartment/loft on the upper floor. This was also my 1st chance this season to interact with any cast at a set. I learned quickly that while some shows are being more loose with what can & cant happen, the Legends Covid officer was pretty stern about the cast cant interact with fans. Which makes sense when you take into consideration one of their leads contracted it earlier this summer.
