The cast & crew of the upcoming sequel to the popular Sonic The Hedgehog movie, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, filmed for about a week in Fort Langley, an hour south east of Vancouver. I managed to make the trip out there twice that week. On the first day I was there, they had a scene set up in the middle of a street there with a pile of debris, and military personnel around. Shortly after, they started shooting a scene with James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski. In the scene, the pair run through the middle of the street in a panic, with Maddie yelling "Sonic" as they run towards a place in the middle of the street. That was all you could see from the actual filming. Fair to assume some post-filming editing will add some things to it. A bit later, they moved across the street, and about 200 feet down to film a scene in fromt of "Green Hills City Hall" where a massive helicopter (without its rotor on it) was parked on the lawn in front of it. There, Tom & Maddie do a scene where they get out of this chopper, with a man who seemed like a higher up ranking member of G.U.N. They are flanked by others who are carrying higher calibre weapons, thus it would seem they are concerned at this point about some type of threat. They all walk along about 40 feet, while the trio share a few words. aaaaand that was all I saw on the first day really. I took some set design photos that day that will be added to the blog section below. On the second day, there was no cast on set at all. While I was there, I decided to take a few more set piece photos, and watched 1 scene done with members of G.U.N. facing Mean Bean, with their guns drawn into the air. The only other scene I saw done that day was across the street, where we see a member of G.U.N. seemingly run & leap off a platform for some reason. Below is some of those scene photos, along with all the set decoration photos I took over the two days. Some of the signs around town were interesting, as you know when it is on camera, it will probably be a blur, but detailed stories were put on them. Also, please, can someone find Sgt. Whiskers? I made it to 1 other Sonic location earlier in the shoot, and you can see my blog HERE on that (no cast were at that location, it was all driving stunts). Below the photos is the video of the scenes I shot during that shoot in Fort Langley.... and a few photos from this blog added at the end of each part. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is expected in theatres in April 2022.

The cast & crew of the upcoming sequel to the popular Sonic The Hedgehog movie, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, filmed for about a week in downtown Vancouver late last month & early this month. The director is Jeff Fowler for this movie. The cinematographer is Brandon Trost. Sadly, none of the cast, which includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Jim Carrey, and Ben Schwartz were seen on set. It was entirely driving scenes they did, with some explosions mixed into the bunch. The first night I went down, they worked on a driving scene with a camera attached to the front of a truck to giv ea 1st person view.Unfortunately, no way to know who, or what the view was from. They simply just drove down the street to the end of the block, where a street festival was set up. The next night, I at least got to see the vehicles that were being used in the scene they shot that night. A security truck that said "Lock & Load" on it, was speeding thru the streets of "Seattle" while several Seattle PD cars chased it. I was actually impressed the speed that truck could get to. Again, for the time I was there, this was the only scene I saw them working on. A few days later, I went back and checked out the scene 1 night, and caught them doing another chase scene with the same truck & cop cars, this time, it ended with an explosion down the street. Unsure what the context of what caused the explosion. Shortly after that (they had to wrap up the explosion scene by a specific time because of City rules) they moved ot doing a scene where a 1st person truck slowly went through a pile of cars, at a painstakingly slow pace. It seemed to just be looking around. Was it looking for someone, something? I dont know. Attached below is some video from these shoots (along with some of the still photos you are seeing in this post after them) Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is expected in theatres in April 2022. |
