The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Stunts is.... Arrow
The inagural Best Stunts award goes to "Arrow" from The CW. For a show where jumping off roof tops, motorbike chases while shooting arrows & 3 or more person fight sequences is pretty much the norm, it really is no shocker that Arrow was the winner. Early on in voting (day 1) Agents Of SHIELD & Hawaii Five-0 both held short leads before Arrow took over the lead & never looked back. The Arrow stunt team consists of many people in front of & behind the scenes, but of note James Bamford the stunt co-ordinator, Simon Burnett, Curtis Braconnier and Atlin Mitchell as the primary stunt team are responsible for much of what you see on the screen every week. Runner up was Lost Girl. In 3rd was Supernatural. Well back in 4th was Agents Of SHIELD, 5th was Game Of Thrones. Despite a hot start, Hawaii Five-O finished well back in 6th, just ahead of The Flash which went from last to 7th in the last 48 hrs of voting. The Blacklist came in 8th, Person of Interest was 9th & Doctor Who rounded out the finalists in 10th. 1st ARROW (CW) 1,687 2nd LOST GIRL (Showcase) 985 3rd SUPERNATURAL (CW) 718 4th Agents Of SHIELD (ABC) 344 5th Game Of Thrones (HBO) 278 6th Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) 158 7th The Flash (CW) 136 8th The Blacklist (NBC) 130 9th Person of Interest (CBS) 107 10th Doctor Who (BBC One) 78

The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Talk Show Host is.... Ellen Degeneres
Ellen wins her 3rd straight honour. With 1849 votes, which breaks her previous record 1590 from last year. The 1155 vote margin however just narrowly falls short of last years 1179 vote margin. Early on (and I mean still on day 1) Jon Stewart had a sizable lead & looked like he might challenge Ellen this year. Eventually though, her fans started to come thru & took over the lead by late ind ay 1 & never looked back. For the 2nd year in a row Jimmy Fallon finished 2nd well back. His 694 votes is a new record for a runner up. Jon Stewart moves up 1 spot to 3rd this year from his 4th from last year while Stephen Colbert moves down to 4th from his 3rd place spot last year in his final year of hosting The Colbert Report. Conan O'Brien remains in 5th again this year. Jimmy Kimmel stays 6th. David Letterman finishes 7th returning to the finals after missing them last year. Newcomer to the finals John Oliver finished 8th in his 1st year. 1st ELLEN DEGENERES "Ellen Degeneres Show" 1849 2nd JIMMY FALLON "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" 694 3rd JON STEWART "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" 341 4th Stephen Colbert "The Colbert Report" 219 5th Conan O'Brien "Conan" 209 6th Jimmy Kimmel "Jimmy Kimmel Live" 186 7th David Letterman "Late Show With David Letterman" 133 8th John Oliver "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" 128 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Couple is.... Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
I suppose the characters played by this years Sexiest Actor & Actress Winners seemed like a safe bet for the Best Couple category. Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from "Arrow" or as theya re more known by their fans "Olicity" win this years Best Couple. Beating out the 2X champions from "Lost Girl" Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis & the 2013 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" With 1,745 Olicity sets a new record for votes in this category i the finals, breaking the old mark of 1,350 by last years winners Lauren & Bo. The 482 vote margin of victory also is a new record, breaing last years mark of 266. Olicity had the lead in voting from the beginning of voting & never relinquished it. Well back in 4th was Captain Hook & Emma Swan (Captain Swan) from "Once Upon A Time" with 308 votes. Last year 2 OUAT couples made the finals, this year neither of them were back, seemingly being replaced by CaptainSwan. In 5th is another Lost Girl duo, Kenzi & Hale Santiago. In 7th, up 2 spots from last year is "The Vampire Diaries" couple of Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena). In 8th was Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins from "Hawaii Five-O". The Impala "Supernatural"
A rare feat in the awards now is to be the only winner of an award. The Impala from "Supernatural" has managed to do just that for 4 consecutive years now. Winning this category with 1087 votes, it wasnt a sure thing for the champion. The Flash Suit from "The Flash" made it closer than the car known by its fans as"Baby" is used to, with 893, almost 300 of those votes were in the last 48 hrs... if it had started its rally maybe a day earlier...who knows. In 3rd was The TARDIS from "Doctor Who" which for a couple days, was actually leading the vote, and was also the semi-final vote leader, it ended with 752 votes. In 4th was last years runner up Rumplestiltskin's Dagger "Once Upon A Time" finishing with 466 votes. The dog known as Bear on "Person of Interest" finished 5th with 308. Stephen Amell The 3 time winner Jensen Ackles has been dethroned by another CW stud. Stephen Amell from Arrow wins this years Sexiest Actor with 1,365 votes & a 479 vote margin of victory, breaking both previous records held by Ackles for total votes in 2011- 1087 and largest margin of victory in 2012- 270. The 3X winner made the list still in an unfamiliar place for him, 2nd, with 886 votes, his lowest total in the 4 years of this award. In 3rd was the 2012 runner up to Ackles, who somehow wasnt even in the finals at all last year, Nathan Fillion with 660 votes. Coming in 4th was another 2012 finalist that did not make it in 2013, Kris Holden-Ried, 9th in 2012, made 4th this year with 560 votes after not making the finals last year. Finalists from last year that finished in the finals this year as well include, Mads Mikkelsen (5th last year) in 6th this year with 451 votes. Last years 3rd place finalist Colin O'Donoghue comes in 8th this year with 186. Benedict Cumberbatch, the 2013 runner up slips to 9th with 155. Johnny Depp who was 8th last year, 1 of only three men to make every final finished 10th with 154. Jared Padalecki, the 2 time 3rd place finalist, who was tied with this years winner Stephen Amell last year in 6th, finished in 11th. Chris Evans in 5th with 483 votes returned to the finals for the first time since 2011 where he finished 11th. The highest ranked newcomer to the finals was Ian Somerhalder finished 7th with 214. Tom Hiddleston in 12th with 134, Shemar Moore in 13th with 125, Chris Pratt in 14th with 91, Jamie Dornan in 15th with 63 and Hugh Dancy in 16th with 57 1st STEPHEN AMELL 1,365 *New Record* 2nd JENSEN ACKLES 886 3rd NATHAN FILLION 660 4th Kris Holden-Ried 560 5th Chris Evans 483 6th Mads Mikkelsen 451 7th Ian Somerhalder 214 8th Colin O'Donoghue 186 9th Benedict Cumberbatch 155 10th Johnny Depp 154 11th Jared Padalecki 142 12th Tom Hiddleston 134 13th Shemar Moore 125 14th Chris Pratt 91 15th Jamie Dornan 63 16th Hugh Dancy 57 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Sexiest Actress is.... Emily Bett Rickards Something is for certain this year in the BOTVAs, Arrow fans are making their mark. The Sexiest Actress this year went to the actress from Arrow with a category record 1,365 votes (oddly, exact same total as the Sexiest Actor winner had this year) & 1/4 of all the votes. With 388 more votes than the 2012 Winner Stana Katic, this marks the largest margin of victory in the 4 years of the award. Formerly Erica Durance in 2011 with 176 was the largest margin of victory, Jennifer Lawrence last year had the largest vote total prior to this year with 1114 The 2012 Winner & last years 6th place finalist Stana Katic came in 2nd with 976. Last two years runner up Zoie Palmer finished 3rd this year, and last two years 3rd place finalist Anna Silk finished 4th. Other finalists from last year, the 2013 Winner Jennifer Lawrence finished in a tie for 5th with 314 votes, Jennifer Morrison (5th) was 9th this year with 93, Kat Dennings (9th) finished 10th this year wth 85 & Anna Torv (11th) finished 14th with 49 votes. This year, those same top 3 finalists from last year are back & in the serious mix for this years honour. Joining them are 1st time finalist Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs who finished 2nd to Stephen Amell from Arrow for the semi-final vote, and Mads Mikkelsen from hannibal, who finished 4th, a spot higher than he finished in the finals of last years vote. While the top 5 from last year all made the finals this year, the bottom half of last years top 10 was not so lucky, only 7th place James Spader from The Blacklist & 10th place Hugh Dancy from hannibal is returning. Ousted were Johnny Lee Miller of Elementary, Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds and Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest. New to the party besides Gorham are, Paul Blackthorne and Colton Haynes from Arrow, giving them FOUR finalists. Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, and Ben McKenzie from the rookie drama Gotham. The Best Action Or Drama Actress category has been the "Stana Katic Award" since its inception in 2011 as the actress from Castle has won all 3 times, making her the only actor or actress to win her award every year since its existence. But this year, it might not go her way if Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow has any say in it. The leading vote getting in the semi-finals had more than Katic & 3rd place fellow Arrow cast member Susanna Thompson combined. Three more Arrow cast made the finals with Caity Lotz in 4th, Willa Holland in 5th & Katie Cassidy in 12th, giving Arrow FIVE finalists. Surely vote splitting will be a major concern for the finalists there, giving Katic a bit of a chance still as she was the only finalist from Castle with Molly Quinn just missing out by 5 votes. Despite the seemingly lopsided rrow & Stana Katic race, there are other contenders. Lucy Liu from Elementary finished 3rd last year in the finals to Katic & Rickards, and comes in this year in 6th in the semi-finals. Amy Acker of Person Of Interest was also a finalist last year, finishing 5th and narrowly made it in this year in 11th. Grace Park finished 6th last year & finished 8th in this years semi-finals. Other newcomers besides the 4 newcomers from Arrow include Pauley Perrette from NCIS, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Helene Joy from Murdoch Mysteries. Two finalists from last year Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy & Kerry Washington from Scandal failed to make the finals this year, along with Celina Jade from Arrow & Taraji P. Henson from Person Of Interest who are no longer eligible. The Best Action or Drama Program category will again look like a fight between the defending champion Arrow & the former 2 time champion Castle. Perennial contender Criminal Minds finished 3rd last year and finished 8th in the semi-final voting to make it 5 consecutive years in the finals, the ONLY Drama to have done so. Last years New Program runner up Hannibal finished 3rd in the semi-final vote, cementing itself as a contender this year. In 4th is 1st time finalist Covert Affairs. Joining Covert Affairs on the 1st time finalist list is Sherlock, Murdoch Mysteries & The Blacklist. Only 5 of last years finalists made it to the finals this year. Missing the mark this time were retired Breaking Bad, along with Rookie Blue, Elementary, Grey's Anatomy & The Mentalist. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
