The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Action Or Drama Program is.... Arrow (CW) Last year Arrow beat the defending two time champion Castle to win the honour, it was a mild upset. This year, Arrow returns to the top and it seemed like a foregone conclussion through much of the voting. With this win, Arrow nabs 9 Awards this year. While the show spent much of 2014 killing off characters close to the shows lead character Oiliver Queen, the shows fans have become a nearly unstoppable force on these awards. With 2587 votes, the show sets a new categorry record for most votes, and largest margin of victory 1,499 over runner up 2011 & 2012 winner Castle with 1088 votes. In 3rd is Sherlock in its 1st finals with 772 votes. In 4th was Covert Affairs with 531 votes in the shows 1st & seemingly only finals appearance on news that it has been canceled. In 5th is Person Of Interest with 358 votes. In 6th Criminal Minds, the only show to be in all 5 finals for the category, down from 3rd last year. In 7th this year is Hannibal in its first finals appearance. In 8th is The Blacklist in its 1st year of eligibility after finishing 6th in the new program category last year. In 9th is Murdoch Mysteries, the 1st ever show to make the finals for Canadian station CBC. In 10th is Hawaii Five-O, down from 7th & arking the shows worst finish in the category in its 4 years in the finals. 1st ARROW (CW) 2587

The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Action or Drama Actor is.... Christopher Gorham "Covert Affairs" It seemed a foregone conclussion that this years winner would be from Castle or Arrow based on the first two rounds of voting & years prior voting. Instead Christopher Gorham "Covert Affairs" pulls out a quite frankly, unexpected win. Gorham who brings to life blind CIA officer Auggie Anderson on the show pulled out all the stops to win. Using twitter & the social celebrity networking site WhoSay to encourage fans to vote for him. This is the 1st time Best Action or Drama Actor Award has been won by someone from a show that has no other awards. This is Covert Affairs 1st & only award as the show recently was canceled by USA. Runner up Stephen Amell "Arrow" was 3rd last year narrowly beat out the 2013 winner, his co-star John Barrowman by 4 votes. Fair to say the vote split of these 2, and the other 2 Arrow cast on the ballot had some play in this years winner. In 4th is the 2 time winner of the award Nathan Fillion "Castle". Well back in 5th is James Spader "The Blacklist" in his 2nd finals appearance, up from last years 7th. In 6th is Mads Mikkelsen "Hannibal" down 1 spot from 5th last year. In 7th is Yannick Bisson "Murdoch Mysteries" in his 1st ever finals apperance. In 8th is Alex O’Loughlin "Hawaii Five’O" dropped from the 4th place finish of last year in his 3rd consecutive finals appearance. In 9th is Ben McKenzie from the rookie hit "Gotham". In 10th is Hugh Dancy "Hannibal" finishing in the same place he did last year. In 11th & 12 are 2 more "Arrow" cast in their first finals appearances, Colton Haynes 11th & Paul Blackthorne 12th. 1st CHRISTOPHER GORHAM "Covert Affairs" 1792
2nd STEPHEN AMELL "Arrow" 1557 3rd JOHN BARROWMAN "Arrow" 1553 4th Nathan Fillion "Castle" 1084 5th James Spader "The Blacklist" 305 6th Mads Mikkelsen "Hannibal" 193 7th Yannick Bisson "Murdoch Mysteries" 169 8th Alex O’Loughlin "Hawaii Five-O" 141 9th Ben McKenzie "Gotham" 124 10th Hugh Dancy "Hannibal" 105 11th Colton Haynes "Arrow" 87 12th Paul Blackthorne "Arrow" 53 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Action Or Drama Actress Winner - EMILY BETT RICKARDS "Arrow"1/31/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Action or Drama Actress is.... Emily Bett Rickards "Arrow" After last years near miss, it was not a large shock that this years winner for Best Action or Drama Actress is Emily Bett rickards from "Arrow. In 2013 this years runner up Stana Katic "Castle" won her 3rd consecutive award with a narrow 4 vote win over Rickards. This year Emily left no doubt who would win with a 1912 vote total and a 700 vote margin of victory, both category records. Katic with 1212 finds herself in 2nd. In 3rd was a tie between Maggie Smith of "Downton Abbey" in her 1st finals appearance and Amy Acker "Person of Interest" who was 5th last year. In 5th is Pauley Perrette "NCIS" marking the 1st ever finals appearance for the show in any category. In 6th was last years 3rd place finalist Lucy Liu "Elementary". In 7th Helene Joy "Murdoch Mysteries" in her 1st finals appearance. In 8th is Katie Cassidy "Arrow" in her 1st finals appearance. In 9th is Grace Park "Hawaii Five-O" down from her 6th place finish last year. 10th thru 12 are all from "Arrow" Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland & Caity Lotz all in their 1st finals for Best Sci-Fi or fantasy Actress. 1st EMILY BETT RICKARDS "Arrow" 1912

Arrow
After back-to-back wins for another CW show "Supernatural" the network wins again, this time with their 3rd crime fighting vigilante show "Arrow". With 1271 votes, Arrow set a new record for most votes in the category, previously held by Supernatural in 2012 with 706 . Also largest margin of victory with 300, previous record was 218 by Supernatural in 2012 Last years runner up, grabbed the same honour this year. Lost Girl finished 2nd with 971 votes, marking the 2nd highest vote total of a show in the 3 years of this award. The former champion Supernatural rounds out the top 3 with 684 votes. Continual contender Castle finished 4th for its 2nd time in the 3 years of the award, improving on its 6th place from last year. Orphan Black nabbed 5th, a sharp increase from its 10th place finish last year. Once Upon A Time finished 6th, just downf rom last years 5th place finish. The Walking Dead in 9th is an improvement on last years 13th, but still down from the 1st year when it finished 6th. Game Of Thrones in 10th slips a bit from its 7th place spot last year. Doctor Who finished 11th, a sharp drop from the 4th place finish the show had last year. The Big Bang Theory finishes 15th after being 9th last year. Newcomers to the finals, Sherlock came in 7th, Murdoch Mysteries was 8th, The Flash finished 12th in its rookie year, Orange Is The New Black finishes 13th, Agents Of SHIELD was 14th. 1st ARROW 1271 *New Record* 2nd LOST GIRL 971 3rd SUPERNATURAL 684 4th Castle 661 5th Orphan Black 314 6th Once Upon A Time 233 7th Sherlock 147 8th Murdoch Mysteries 139 9th The Walking Dead 119 10th Game Of Thrones 105 11th Doctor Who 94 12th The Flash 94 13th Orange Is The New Black 99 14th Agents Of SHIELD 74 15th The Big Bang Theory 61 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Recurring Actress is.... Alaina Huffman "Supernatural"
Alaina Huffman with 624 votes joins the ranks of Julia Maxwell, Rachel Miner & Felicia Day as "Supernatural" alum to win the Best Recurring Actress Award. Just like their male cohorts, SPN has won every single award on the womens side for the recurring categories. Huffman, a repeat finalist in this category, finished 3rd last year. Without Felicia Day or Anna Torv from "Fringe" to compete against this year, she won quite handily ahead of another Supernatural alum Erica Carroll in 2nd with 429 votes. In 3rd, last years 4th place finalist Gillian Anderson "Hannibal" with 361 votes, Anderson held the lead breifly opening day, then was passed by Huffman & never again did the lead change. In 4th was Katrina Law "Arrow" just ahead of "Lost Girl" star Anna Silk in a very shocking 5th. In 6th was last years 5th place finalist, and this years Best Youth Actress winner, Bex Taylor-Klaus from "Arrow". In 7th, another "Lost Girl" actress Ksenia Solo. Finishing 8th was "Murdoch Mysteries" star Arwen Humphries. In 9th was Celina Jade for "Arrow" just ahead of Alex Kingston, also from "Arrow". 1st ALAINA HUFFMAN "Supernatural" 624 2nd ERICA CARROLL "Supernatural" 429 3rd GILLIAN ANDERSON "Hannibal" 361 4th Katrina Law "Arrow" 187 5th Anna Silk "Lost Girl" 171 6th Bex Taylor-Klaus "Arrow" 164 7th Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" 121 8th Arwen Humphries "Murdoch Mysteries" 90 9th Celina Jade "Arrow" 77 10th Alex Kingston "Arrow" 70 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Episode Winner - THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow"1/23/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Episode is.... The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
This years winner for Best Episode is NOT from Supernatural.... seriously. With a new category record 952 votes The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won, beating out the season 2 finale of the same show, Unthinkable by a category record 193 votes. The popularity of the Felicity Smoak character might not be any more apparent than by this win. Simply having her name in the title seemed to be enough for her fans to vote for it despite it clearly not being the best of its own show from the last year. The episode featured the secondary characters backstory about her early day sof her computer hacking and cleverly tied in a current day story related to her past to make it fit. The runner up was another Arrow episode Unthinkable. The season 2 finale. Perhaps if it was titled "Felicity Smoak's Unthinkable" it would have won instead as it had the lead for a couple days in the middle of the voting. In 3rd was Veritas from "Castle" which led in voting early on till Arrow fans rallied behind their episodes. Rounding out the top 10 were Like Hell Part 1 "Lost Girl" which was from the "late addition" vote in. Dark Horse "Lost Girl" was 5th. Fan Fiction from "Supernatural" was the highest any SPN episode faired at 6th, Waves "Lost Girl" was 7th, Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" was 8th, the Arrow/Flash cross over episode for "Arrow" The Brave & The Bold, came in 9th. Rounding out the top 10 was Streets Of Fire from "Arrow". In my analysis of the semi-final voting I really felt Supernatural, Arrow, Lost Girl & Castle would struggle to win because of vote splitting, yet those shows dominated the entire top 10 list. Only THREE of the top 20 The Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" in 11th, Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" & What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" were the only entries from their shows. 1st THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow" 952 2nd UNTHINKABLE "Arrow" 759 3rd VERITAS "Castle" 655 4th Like Hell part 1 "Lost Girl" 531 5th Dark Horse "Lost Girl" 499 6th Fan Fiction "Supernatural" 483 7th Waves "Lost Girl" 479 8th Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" 462 9th The Brave & The Bold "Arrow" 354 10th Streets Of Fire "Arrow" 328 11th Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" 323 12th End Of A Line "Lost Girl" 233 13th Origin "Lost Girl" 228 14th Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" 222 15th That 70s Show "Castle" 199 16th Soul Survivor "Supernatural" 181 17th No Sanctuary "The Walking Dead" 170 18th Do You Believe In Miracles "Supernatural" 168 19th First Born "Supernatural" 153 20th What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" 145 21st The Sign Of Three "Sherlock" 130 22nd Listen "Doctor Who" 124 23rd Kill Switch "Castle" 107 24th The Empty Hearse "Sherlock" 106 25th Girls, Girls, Girls "Supernatural" 104 26th The Lion And The Rose "Game Of Thrones" 103 27th Seeing Red "Arrow" 84 28th Deep Breath "Doctor Who" 80 29th Paper Moon "Supernatural" 49 30th Mothers Little Helper "Supernatural" 47 The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. But 1st we need candidates to compete in the finals. The results below are for the categories of Best Action or Drama Actor, Actress & Program Best Action or Drama Actor STEPHEN AMELL (Arrow) 633 CHRISTOPHER GORHAM (Covert Affairs) 403 JOHN BARROWMAN (Arrow) 399 MADS MIKKELSEN (Hannibal) 390 NATHAN FILLION (Castle) 361 ALEX O'LOUGHLIN 228 (Hawaii Five-O) 228 HUGH DANCY (Hannibal) 199 PAUL BLACKTHORNE(Arrow) 189 COLTON HAYNES (Arrow) 187 YANNICK BISSON (Murdoch Mysteries) 177 JAMES SPADER (The Blacklist) 150 BEN MCKENZIE (Gotham) 137 JON HUERTAS (Castle) 126, JOHNNY LEE MILLER (Elementary) 119, MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER (Criminal Minds) 116, JIM CAVIEZEL (Person Of Interest) 115, SHEMAR MOORE (Criminal Minds) 112, DAVID TENNANT (Gracepoint) 102, PATRICK DEMPSEY (Grey's Anatomy) 96, ALLAN HAWCO (Republic Of Doyle) 50 Best Action or Drama Actress EMILY BETT RICKARDS (Arrow) 648 STANA KATIC (Castle) 376 SUSANNA THOMPSON (Arrow) 254 CAITY LOTZ (Arrow) 178 WILLA HOLLAND (Arrow) 174 LUCY LIU (Elementary) 173 PAULEY PERRETTE (NCIS) 168 GRACE PARK (Hawaii Five-O) 165 MAGGIE SMITH (Downton Abbey) 154 HELENE JOY (Murdoch Mysteries) 144 AMY ACKER (Person Of Interest) 136 KATIE CASSIDY (Arrow) 133 MOLLY QUINN (Castle) 128, MARISKA HARTIGAY "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) 117, MEGAN BOONE (The Blacklist) 107, ELLEN POMPEO (Grey's Anatomy) 99, KERRY WASHINGTON (Scandal) 93, VERA FARMIGA (Bates Motel) 90, GEORGINA REILLY (Murdoch Mysteries) 67, ERICA DURANCE (Saving Hope) 54, KRYSTIN PELLERIN (Republic Of Doyle) 37, MONICA POTTER (Parenthood) 35 Best Action or Drama Program
ARROW 783 CASTLE 396 HANNIBAL 394 COVERT AFFAIRS 344 HAWAII FIVE-O 234 SHERLOCK 226 MURDOCH MYSTERIES 173 CRIMINAL MINDS 157 PERSON OF INTEREST 154 THE BLACKLIST 150 ELEMENTARY 129, RIZZOLI & ISLES 126, GREY'S ANATOMY 105, THE MENTALIST 90, DOWNTON ABBEY 81, CHICAGO FIRE 74, REVENGE 72, THE NEWSROOM 68, REPUBLIC OF DOYLE 51, PARENTHOOD 45, THE KILLING 43 The Best Action or Drama actor category had 1 of the few notable upsets of recent memory last year when secondary star John barrowman of Arrow beat out his own shows lead, and the defending 2 time winner Nathan Fillion from Castle to take the award. This year, those same top 3 finalists from last year are back & in the serious mix for this years honour. Joining them are 1st time finalist Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs who finished 2nd to Stephen Amell from Arrow for the semi-final vote, and Mads Mikkelsen from hannibal, who finished 4th, a spot higher than he finished in the finals of last years vote. While the top 5 from last year all made the finals this year, the bottom half of last years top 10 was not so lucky, only 7th place James Spader from The Blacklist & 10th place Hugh Dancy from hannibal is returning. Ousted were Johnny Lee Miller of Elementary, Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds and Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest. New to the party besides Gorham are, Paul Blackthorne and Colton Haynes from Arrow, giving them FOUR finalists. Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, and Ben McKenzie from the rookie drama Gotham. The Best Action Or Drama Actress category has been the "Stana Katic Award" since its inception in 2011 as the actress from Castle has won all 3 times, making her the only actor or actress to win her award every year since its existence. But this year, it might not go her way if Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow has any say in it. The leading vote getting in the semi-finals had more than Katic & 3rd place fellow Arrow cast member Susanna Thompson combined. Three more Arrow cast made the finals with Caity Lotz in 4th, Willa Holland in 5th & Katie Cassidy in 12th, giving Arrow FIVE finalists. Surely vote splitting will be a major concern for the finalists there, giving Katic a bit of a chance still as she was the only finalist from Castle with Molly Quinn just missing out by 5 votes. Despite the seemingly lopsided rrow & Stana Katic race, there are other contenders. Lucy Liu from Elementary finished 3rd last year in the finals to Katic & Rickards, and comes in this year in 6th in the semi-finals. Amy Acker of Person Of Interest was also a finalist last year, finishing 5th and narrowly made it in this year in 11th. Grace Park finished 6th last year & finished 8th in this years semi-finals. Other newcomers besides the 4 newcomers from Arrow include Pauley Perrette from NCIS, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Helene Joy from Murdoch Mysteries. Two finalists from last year Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy & Kerry Washington from Scandal failed to make the finals this year, along with Celina Jade from Arrow & Taraji P. Henson from Person Of Interest who are no longer eligible. The Best Action or Drama Program category will again look like a fight between the defending champion Arrow & the former 2 time champion Castle. Perennial contender Criminal Minds finished 3rd last year and finished 8th in the semi-final voting to make it 5 consecutive years in the finals, the ONLY Drama to have done so. Last years New Program runner up Hannibal finished 3rd in the semi-final vote, cementing itself as a contender this year. In 4th is 1st time finalist Covert Affairs. Joining Covert Affairs on the 1st time finalist list is Sherlock, Murdoch Mysteries & The Blacklist. Only 5 of last years finalists made it to the finals this year. Missing the mark this time were retired Breaking Bad, along with Rookie Blue, Elementary, Grey's Anatomy & The Mentalist. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
