The 2017 Best Of TV Awards winner in the category of Best Action or Drama Program is - Sherlock (BBC) This years winner for Best Action or Drama Program is Sherlock, giving them their 1st award in this category. Sherlock won with 131 votes. This was only the shows 2nd finals appearance, the last coming in 2014 when it finished 3rd. With a limited run every season, and seasons only coming every 2 years, it is a show many fans often forget about come voting time. Somehow, this year, it bucked that trend and won. With benedict Cumberbatch as the shows lead Sherlock Holmes, and Martin Freeman as John Watson, the show has constantly been an online favorite. But here, because of the time of year the awards go on, it never seems to have managed to get its appreciation here. Mark Gatiss, Louise Brealey, Una Stubbs, and Rupert graves fill out this shows cast. With Amanda Abbington, Lindsay Duncan, Sian Brooke & Andrew Scott as notable guest stars this season. Runner Up was The Last Tycoon with 110 votes in its first finals appearance. Lucifer won with 155 votes. The show that focuses on the devil himself, Lucifer Morningstar had a breakout type year on these awards, and in general. With this years Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor & Actress winners Tom Ellis & Lesley Ann Brandt headlining a cast that includes D.B. Woodside, Rachael Harris, Kevin Alejandro, Lauren German & Tricia Helfer, along with the additions of Aimee Garcia & Tom Welling more recently, the show has watched its popularity grow in the short 3 seasons it has been around. Runner Up was 5 Time Category Winner, Supernatural with 134 votes. Third was Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency with 88 votes in their first & only finals appearance as the show was canceled. The Big Bang Theory won with 123 votes. The group of science nerds from Southern California once again dominated this category. With the exception of 2015, they have won at least 2 of the 3 Comedy categories every single year.
