 The 2016 Best Of TV Awards winner in the category of Best Animated Program is The Simpsons (FOX) This years awards see the only winner ever in the category defend their title. The Simpsons won their 4th title in a row. With more votes than the 2nd & 3rd place finishers combined, the dominance of this program in this category was on display again. Runner Up Family Guy had 74 votes for their second runner up finish, to go along with two 3rd place finishes. Archer Finishes 3rd with 71 votes, improving from back to back 5th place finishes the previous two years. South Park finishes 4th with 48 votes tying their 2011 & 2015 highest ranking. Bojack Horseman was 5th with 41 votes in its 1st finals.

They also set a category record for most votes, and largest margin of victory with 576 votes, and a 310 vote margin of victory. For the 3rd consecutive time, a different runner up emerges. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in its 1st ever finals managed a distant second, edging out last years 3rd place finalist & 2nd place finalist in 2011 Family Guy by 19 votes. South Park rebounded from a 6th place finish last year to get back to the 4th place spot that they had in 2011. Archer maintained the 5th place spot they had last year while Bob-s Burgers dropped from 4th to 6th this year. Last years winning show, Arrow notched 5 finalists, despite the maximum 3 rule, due to a tie in the semi-final voting for 3rd place from the show, and nabbing 1 of the spots in the run off late addition voting. Other shows putting in multiple finalists the show with 2 Best Episode awards Supernatural with 4, Castle with 4, Daredevil, Doctor Who, Hannibal, Lost Girl, The Flash, The Walking Dead, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with 3 Agents Of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, iZombie with 2. There are 8 shows with only 1 finalist, all 8 are 1st time finalists in the category. The Best Director Category will see the two time winner Jensen Ackles having some competition this time from "Arrow" director Lexi Alexander for Beyond Redemption and 2014 semi-finalist "Person of Interest" director Chris Fisher for If-Then-Else. With Hannibal having 3 finalists, Person of Interest, Supernatural and The Walking Dead all having two finalists each, the potential for vote splitting on those shows is going to give the lone Arrow candidate a serious chance to win. The Best Animated Program Category looks again like it will be dominated by The Simpsons. With very few serious contenders in the field, the longest running prime time animated series of all time looks poised to win its 3rd straight award. Perennial contenders Family Guy and South Park look to be the most probable competition. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Archer and Bobs Burgers will all be in the finals as well. Only 4 of last years finalists made the finals this year. With only 1 of the finalists last year being retired, that means 5 couple from last year did not make this years finals who were there last year. Crazier yet, Once Upon A Time had 2 couples in last year, neither of them made it this year... including last years runner ups in the finals, but a completely different couple did. Last years winner Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis from Lost Girl are back, despite their penalties and have brought along another couple from their show Kenzie & Hale Santiago. The couple known as Doccubus main competition looks to be coming from newcomer couple Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from Arrow, Olicity garnered nearly double the votes of the 2 time champ. Richard Castle & Kate Beckett of Castle (aka - Caskett), the other winner of this award in 2012 is still in the fight too, along with last years break out couple Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson from Glee (aka - Klaine) who finished 3rd in this years semi-final voting. In the category of "odd" has to be the case of Felicity Smoak. The character (played by the same actress) is going into the finals in 2 different couples....on 2 different shows. Definitely a 1st. The Animated category returns after being removed for 2 years due to a lack of contenders and interest. The former champion is again looking poised to win again as The Simpsons won the semi-finals. After finishing 2nd in the opening round to a show that failed to make the finals, it seems pretty clear the winner is probably going to the longest running prime time animated program ever. Family Guy, South Park & The Legend Of Korra all look like they will at least give the champion SOME fight, but this seems more of a battle for 2nd than any potential winner coming out of the group.
