The 2015 Best Of TV Awards Winner for Best Episode is If-Then-Else "Person Of Interest". This was the 1st time Person of Interest had any episodes in the finals of this category, and lo & behold, If-Then-Else, the 11th episode of their season, and first of 2015, wins. Directed by Chris Fisher, in the episode we find Reese, Finch, Fusco & Root known by its fans as Team Machine heading to the New York Stock Exchange after a crippling attack on it by Samaratan, while their other member Shaw tracks a man on a subway that is considered key to all of whats going on. In a bit of a nod to Groundhog Day, The Machine plays thru various scenarios when the team ends up in trouble to find the best of the bad options they have and takes the viewers on a ride as it plays out each scenario before rewinding right back to the start of their troubles. Shaw ends up in the middle of a suicide attempt on the train & has to deviate from her original plan to assure no one ends up dead. We get a couple of scenes of Root flirting heavily with Shaw in the episode, with Shaw eventually telling Root that "yeah Root, maybe someday". Eventually Shaw makes it to the NYSE just in time to help her team & improve the teams chances. In the end the machine helps the team escape, but they are left with a terrible decision in the end. One of them will have to stay behind to trigger the button to help the elevator they have escaped to to go. Root tries to stop Shaw, before Shaw gives her a big kiss & then pushes her back away from the door as she closes it & goes to the button as Root is left yelling at the cage door. The episode ends with the elevator door closing and the survival of Shaw unknown at the time with Samaratan operative Martine standing over top of Shaw with a gun pointed at her. After last years Win, Arrow nabs 2nd place this year with their mid-season finale "Dark Waters". In 3rd is "Mr & Mrs. Castle" from Castle. The episode "Out Of Time" from The Flash nabbed 4th. "Just My Imagination" from the 3X Winning show Supernatural took 5th. Supernatural also took 6th with the Impala-centric episode "Baby". Last years winning show, Arrow notched 5 finalists, despite the maximum 3 rule, due to a tie in the semi-final voting for 3rd place from the show, and nabbing 1 of the spots in the run off late addition voting.
Other shows putting in multiple finalists the show with 2 Best Episode awards Supernatural with 4, Castle with 4, Daredevil, Doctor Who, Hannibal, Lost Girl, The Flash, The Walking Dead, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with 3 Agents Of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, iZombie with 2. There are 8 shows with only 1 finalist, all 8 are 1st time finalists in the category. The Best Director Category will see the two time winner Jensen Ackles having some competition this time from "Arrow" director Lexi Alexander for Beyond Redemption and 2014 semi-finalist "Person of Interest" director Chris Fisher for If-Then-Else. With Hannibal having 3 finalists, Person of Interest, Supernatural and The Walking Dead all having two finalists each, the potential for vote splitting on those shows is going to give the lone Arrow candidate a serious chance to win. The Best Animated Program Category looks again like it will be dominated by The Simpsons. With very few serious contenders in the field, the longest running prime time animated series of all time looks poised to win its 3rd straight award. Perennial contenders Family Guy and South Park look to be the most probable competition. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Archer and Bobs Burgers will all be in the finals as well. The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days.. Voting, and a complete list of nominees in all categories can be found HERE The 2015 Best Of TV Awards are about to start the Finals soon. The 6th annual BOTVA's are still closing out some polls for the run off round before we advance to the finals. We've already shattered the previous record for votes in the first round combined. With over 487,000 votes. The 2015 BOTVA's all time record of 575,000 votes in a year. The Semi-Final rounds for Best Talk Show Host, Writing & Stunts categories took place a couple weeks ago. The only winner of this award in the 3 years of its existence seems poised to take it again. The two time runner up Jimmy Fallon finds himself finishing 2nd again to Ellen in this round. Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Conan O'Brien all make the finals for a fourth time, along with John Oliver in his 2nd finals. Last years field had 8 finalists, this year only 6. Former 2X finalists David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel both missed the finals with Kimmel not even making the semi-finals.
The Best Writing Category has most of the same shows that made the inagural awards final round last year. Only Orange Is The New Black and the currently inactive Sherlock did not make it back to this years finals. A few new shows to the finals made the finals this year. Person of Interest and Agents Of SHIELD were strong contenders, both finishing in the top 4 in the semi-finals. Another pack of four newcomers to the finals followed not too much furtner behind, The 100, Once Upon A Time, Agent Carter & Daredevil all made the finals as well. Last years winner, Arrow, is back in the finals as the vote leader in the semi-finals, after a modest 5th place showing in the opening round. In a rare feat, Arrow actually increased its vote total from round 1 where there was no limit to voting, to round 2 where there was a 1 per voting restriction. the two opening round voting goliaths, hannibal & Person of Interest had somewhat different round 2 successes. While both qualified for the finals, POI managed to stick around in 2nd, while Hannibal fell back to 10th. last years runner up, Lost Girl also qualified, but barely, sneaking in down at 11th. The Best Stunts Category also won by Arrow last year looks poised for a possible repeat performance this year. Much like the writing category, almost everyone from last year is back. Only Supernatural didnt make it back to the finals this year, being replaced by newcomer Daredevil. The difference between last year & this year seems to be who the contenders to Arrows title might be. Last years runner ups Lost Girl and the eliminated Supernatural dropped considerably this year, while two also rans in the finals last year Person Of Interest and The Flash find themselves going into the finals as the contenders. The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days.. Arrow (CW) Last year Arrow beat the defending two time champion Castle to win the honour, it was a mild upset. This year, Arrow returns to the top and it seemed like a foregone conclussion through much of the voting. With this win, Arrow nabs 9 Awards this year. While the show spent much of 2014 killing off characters close to the shows lead character Oiliver Queen, the shows fans have become a nearly unstoppable force on these awards. With 2587 votes, the show sets a new categorry record for most votes, and largest margin of victory 1,499 over runner up 2011 & 2012 winner Castle with 1088 votes. In 3rd is Sherlock in its 1st finals with 772 votes. In 4th was Covert Affairs with 531 votes in the shows 1st & seemingly only finals appearance on news that it has been canceled.
