The Best Comedy show category looks to be potentially a 3peat for the gang from CBS nerdy comedy The Big Bang Theory. The defending 2X champs however seem to have more serious contenders than previous years, as NBC college comedy "Community" comes in 2nd after being in 4th in 2010, and 3rd last year. CBS "How I Met Your Mother" last years runner up comes in 3rd, USA Network fake-psychic crime dramedy "Psych" comes in 4th after finishing 5th last year. ABC "Modern Family" rounds out the final 5 this year.

Best sci-fi/fantasy Show category has been all Supernatural from day 1. The 2010 & 2011 winner however has a serious challenger this year, as Showcase crime drama "Lost Girl" has stepped up to challenge the 2X winner. "Supernatural" finished a distant 2nd in the semi-finals after finishing a surprisingly average 3rd in the nomination round. The 2011 winner for Best New Show ABC's "Once Upon A Time" came in 3rd, FOX sci-fi cult classic "Fringe" will go into the finals 4th after leading the nomination round. AMC zombie apocalypse drama & 2010 Best New Show winner "The Walking Dead" nabbing the final spot.

Best action/drama show category turned from a Person Of Interest VS everyone battle in the nomination round, into a Leverage VS Hawaii Five-O battle in the semi-final round. The recently cancelled TNT series "Leverage" seems to have rallied its fans everywhere, including here, as they went from limping into the semis in 13th to going into the finals as the leaders. CBS crime drama remake "Hawaii Five-O" went from 3rd to 2nd in voting this round. The 2011 winners in this category ABC crime drama "Castle" nabbed 3rd, also 1 spot up from their nomination round spot of 4th. USA Netowork crime drama "White Collar" after nabbing the last spot in the nomination round, goes into the finals in 5th place. The nomination round leaders, Person of Interest & The Mentalist both made the finals, but were down considerably in support finishing 8th & 9th in the semi-finals..

The Best New Program category seems to be a two horse race. The CBS Sherlock Holmes knock off "Elementary" leading the semi-final vote with The CW vigilante crime fighter "Arrow" 2nd, reversing the order of the 2 from the nomination round. Canadian sci-fi series Continuum making a 3rd place showing ahead of recently cancelled ABC political/war thriller Last Resort & another Canadian sci-fi show "Primeval New World".

"Hawaii Five-O" star Alex O'Loughlin took the lead spot, ahead of "Castle" star & the 2011 winner, Nathan Fillion. 3rd was the nomination round leader "Person Of Interest" star Jim Caviezel. "Burn Notice" star Bruce Campbell grabbed 4th, as Michael Emerson of "Person Of Interest" rounded out the top 5.

When I created the Supporting actor/actress categories, it didnt really occur to me that someone might win it 2 years in a row for the same show... The guidelines I put in place, where the Supporting awards are given to actors who have a minimum 3 & maximumum 7 appearances in the year is vastly different than the major awards "supporting" actor/actress awards. Because of this, I didnt think there woud be too many times where there would be someone up for the award twice, in a row, let alone win it... Best Supporting Actor category was dominated by Supernatural cast members, as they took the top 4 spots. The winner of last years award, Mark Sheppard is headed into the final as the semi-finals leader, besting his other SPN bretheren Ty Olsson, Jim Beaver & Osric Chau. "Fringe" star Michael Cerveris took 5th. I felt compelled to extend this category to 7 because of the SPN dominance "Dexter" baddie Ray Stevenson & "Fringe" baddie Jared Harris tied for the final spot.

The Best Guest star finals appear to be a Supernatural vs Fringe battle as 5 of the 6 finalists come form those 2 shows. With 5 of the 10 semi-finalists it was a near mathematical probability Supernatural would have at least someone in the finals. SPN guest star DJ Qualls leader in both rounds, goes into the finals as the favorite. Another SPN'er was 2nd this round, Felicia Day. Fringe sporadically seen mastermind Leonard Nimoy was 3rd, Supernatural's Mark Pellegrino 4th, Fringe guest star Rebecca Mader nabbed 5th, while Wil Wheaton of The Big Bang Theory in the final couple hours closed a 5 vote gap to tie Mader for the 5th spot.

With last years winner Erica Durance gone, and the 2010 Best Actress winner Anna Torv's show "Fringe" winding down, competition for the Sci-fi/fantasy crown could be left to just Lost Girl & Once Upon A Time next year if this seasons vote means much. "Lost Girl" nabbed 1st, 3rd & 4th with Zoie Palmer, Anna Silk & Ksenia Solo. Michelle Dockery from "Downton Abbey" 3rd, Mireille Enos "The Killing" a shocking 4th & Jennifer Carpenter "Dexter" taking 5th by just 2 votes over finalist from last year Sharon Gless from "Burn Notice".

Best Supporting Actress category is of course different here than in major awards. Here we base it off how many episodes you are in, so a variety of actresses who might not normally get recognized since they stand between regular & guest star roles get recognized. A minimum of 3, maximimum of 7 appearances is what is required. Perfect example is the leader going into the finals, "Hawaii Five-O" star Michelle Borth. Potentially a full timer down the road, she has yet to get enough credits to be completely considered one (at the time of the nominations). Runner ups were 2 "Supernatural" girls Rachel Miner & Liane Balaban. 4th goes to "Dexter" bad girl Yvonne Strahovski and the final spot goes to "Fringe" short term actress Georgina Haig. Two Once Upon A Time cast were narrowly edged out as Barbara Hershey & Jamie Chung just missed the list.

The Favorite TV show category, a new 1 to the awards had very little in the way of surprises to me. The top 5 shows were basically45 of the top vote producing shows in these awards & 1 minor shocker. Lost Girl beat out Supernatural for top spot, while Hawaii Five-O nabbed a slightly surprising 3rd. Castle was 4th, Fringe 5th. A show that missed the list just barely, Person of Interest, which just proves if fan sites dont check the polls every couple of days, they might miss 1 of their nominees.

The Non-Human Category still seems to confuse some people, as the nomination round saw lots of votes wasted on characters that were clearly played BY humans (making them void). In the semi-finals, with no write in voting allowed, a more clear path emerged for the contenders. With a small delegation of fans from Person Of Interest fan boards finding these awards, they made their mysterious all knowing device that spies on everyone "The Machine" the runaway leader in voting, beating out former champ "The Impala" from Supernatural. Last years runner up also dipped 1 spot as Gene the cow from "Fringe" came in 3rd. Newcomer to the finalists "The Blueberry" from Psych, and rounding out your 2012 BOTVA Finalists the cleverly named monkey from Community "Annies Boobs".

Best Episode category had the same 2 shows that were the leaders after the nomination round leading the semi-finals. USA Network comedy-crime drama Psych episode "Heeeeere's Lassie" was top again with The CW Networks Supernatural episode "The Girl With The Dungeon And Dragons Tattoo" coming in 2nd. Another Supernatural episode was 3rd "Survival Of The Fittest" while Castle nabbed a 4th spot with "Undead Again", edging out 2 Fringe episodes in 5th & 6th "The End Of All Things" & "Brave New World Pt 1&2". "Before The Dying Fire" From The Walking Dead, "Linchpin" Castle, "Are You...?" Dexter, and "Santabarbaratown" Psych round out the rest of the finalists. Not making the list were the 3rd & 4th ranked shows from the nominations round, both from rookie CW Network show, Arrow.

The Best Director category has been taken over by the Supernatural fans, as they pushed through the shows star Jensen Ackles in the nomination round with write in votes since he directed an episode, as well regular director there Guy Norman Bee in 2nd. Jon Cassar & Joe Chappelle, both from Fringe episodes nabbed 3rd & 4th. David Crabtree for an episode from Psych, and Ernest R. Dickerson for an episode from The Walking Dead are the other finalists.

I dont usually speak up on voting decisions...but I am going to here. Jensen Ackles is a COMPETENT director from what I've seen..but Best? No. There are categories on here for favorite character, sexiest actor/actress, even the Best Actor/actress categories are more open to debate, but Jensen Ackles as best director would be a farce and you all know it...anfy of you saying otherwise are crazy. Did you legitimately watch the episode he directed & think "wow, that episode was put together far better than any other I've seen this year"?? No, you didnt. in the finals, try voting on the product you saw, and not the name attached to it.

Again, the Best Couple category is being dominated by the all girl couple of Bo & Lauren Lewis from "Lost Girl". The other 4 spots in the finals were taken by couples that have had merged nicknames by their fanbases, Richard Castle & Kate Beckett, more affectionately known as "Caskett" by the Castle fans came in 2nd, "POlivia" the Fringe couple of Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham were 3rd, the real life couple James Roday & Maggie Lawson characters Shawn Spencer & Juliet O'Hara aka "Shules" from Psych nabbed 4th ahead of The Big Bang Theory super brained odd couple "ShAmy" Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler. Slightly shocking to me was that the Once Upon A Time couple of Snow & Charming didnt make the finals & more shockingly The Vampire Diaries "Delena" didnt even seem to register a pulse.
