Last years winning show, Arrow notched 5 finalists, despite the maximum 3 rule, due to a tie in the semi-final voting for 3rd place from the show, and nabbing 1 of the spots in the run off late addition voting.
Other shows putting in multiple finalists the show with 2 Best Episode awards Supernatural with 4, Castle with 4, Daredevil, Doctor Who, Hannibal, Lost Girl, The Flash, The Walking Dead, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with 3 Agents Of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, iZombie with 2. There are 8 shows with only 1 finalist, all 8 are 1st time finalists in the category. The Best Director Category will see the two time winner Jensen Ackles having some competition this time from "Arrow" director Lexi Alexander for Beyond Redemption and 2014 semi-finalist "Person of Interest" director Chris Fisher for If-Then-Else. With Hannibal having 3 finalists, Person of Interest, Supernatural and The Walking Dead all having two finalists each, the potential for vote splitting on those shows is going to give the lone Arrow candidate a serious chance to win. The Best Animated Program Category looks again like it will be dominated by The Simpsons. With very few serious contenders in the field, the longest running prime time animated series of all time looks poised to win its 3rd straight award. Perennial contenders Family Guy and South Park look to be the most probable competition. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Archer and Bobs Burgers will all be in the finals as well. The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days.. Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Director Winner - JENSEN ACKLES "Soul Survivor" (Supernatural)1/26/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Director is.... Jensen Ackles "Soul Survivor" - SUPERNATURAL
I suppose as long as he is willing to direct 1 episode a year, the fans will vote for it. Jensen Ackles, 1 of the stars of "Supernatural" wins his 2nd Best Director award in 3 years for "Soul Survivor" this year. With 1,032 votes it sets a new category record, and 706 vote lead is also a category record. Well back in 2nd was Director X for a "Lost Girl" episode Waves. John Behring was 3rd for his work on Unthinkable, the "Arrow" season 2 finale. In 4th Thomas J. Wright "Supernatural" Do You Believe in Miracles" managed to syphon 137 votes away from Jensen Ackles. In 5th & 6th were Amanda Tapping’s "Continuum" episodes Wasting Minute & Waning Minute. Neil Marshall "Game Of Thrones" finished 7th for The Watchers Of The Wall. In 8th was Nick Hurran for his work on the "Sherlock" season 3 finale His Last Vow. Pamel Fryman "How I Met Your Mother" nabbed 9th with the episode How Your Mother Met Me. Roundng out the top 10 was Douglas Aarniokoski fr his work on Seeing Red from "Arrow". 1st JENSEN ACKLES "Soul Survivor" - SUPERNATURAL 1032 *New Record* 2nd DIRECTOR X "Waves" - LOST GIRL 326 3rd JOHN BEHRING "Unthinkable" - ARROW 243 4th Thomas J. Arrow has 2 of the top 3, including John Behring for "Unthinkable" as the top vote getter, narrowly beating out 2012 winner Jensen Ackles for "Soul Survivor" on Supernatural. Douglas Aarniokoski on "Seeing Red" rounds out the bookends of the Arrow Supernatural Arrow trio. Amanda Tapping managed 2 finalist spots with her 2 part Continuum episodes. Besides 2012 winner Ackles, Pamela Fryman "How Your Mother Met Me" is the only other previous contender for Best Director, making the semi-finals last year. Last years winning show Glee, had no finalists this year as their 2 semi-finalist contenders did not advance. The Best Episode category, aka - "favorite Supernatural episode" in the years past could be a hard one to predict. Supernatural is well represented in the finals. SEVEN finalists for the 3X Winning show, Arrow and Lost Girl managed 5, while Castle has 4. While it would SEEM to be a safe bet with Arrow & Supernatural dominating the top 8 spots that they are a shoe in to win, theres then the fact that in the finals the amount of challengers you can vote for will be limited to 2 or 3. Vote splitting is always a problem when a show shoves too many of its challengers into a finals. Perhaps The Flash or Murdoch Mysteries with their 1 singular nominee will win because their fans will not be split on who to vote for. Also, an error occurred in listing for a couple days of this category. One of the Arrow finalists, The Secret Origins Of Felicity Smoak was mistakenly listed as Draw Back Your Bow for awhile, so if you voted for DBYB & wonder where it is.... is was changed to TSOOFS during the round after the error was noticed. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards opening round is winding down as the last group of the record 27categories is currently being voted on by you, the fans HERE. With 23 of the categories already wrapped... here is the results from several of the categories. Best Episode, Director, Non-Human Character or Prop, Youth Actor & Actress category results below. Names BOLDED are moving on to the semi-finals which start next week. Just a reminder, the next 2 rounds is NOT unlimited voting & there is no more write in/nominations. If your favorite did not get selected in round 1, sorry. There was a month of nominations and a few days of voting to have nominated them enough to get in. Lots of originally non-nominated challengers are in the semi-finals. Write In Vote campaigns in Best. The director of probably the most talked about episode of Glee in recent years, Brad Falchuk won the honour of Best Director with his work on "The Quarterback", an episode that was surely a challenge for not just the cast, but the crew too as they paid tribute to 1 of their shows biggest stars after the death of Cory Monteith. Falchuk won with 496 votes. Runner up was Philip Sgriccia for the (Supernatural) season finale "Sacrifice" with 450 votes.
