The Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. THE WALKING DEAD (AMC)
Just like the best actor in sci-fi/fantasy category, fans of the AMC hit "The Walking Dead' about a group of survivors in a zombie riddled apocalpytic America flooded this site with votes for their show & actor. Norman Reedus, an actor on the show tweeted to his 200K+ followers to support him & the show in these awards, and they did. The former 2X champion "Supernatural" never stood a chance without support from 1 of their main stars. Critically acclaimed in its 1st season, the 2nd year of the hit show saw fans openly panning The Walking Dead as its pace slowed substantially, but they flocked back this year and have deemed it the best sci-fi/fantasy program this year. In 3rd was the fantasy fairie-tale characters in the real world drama "Once Upon A Time". Showcase Sci-fi hit "Lost Girl" was 4, and FOX brilliant sci-fi cult classic about a family detined to save the world from tyrranical overlords "Fringe" rounded out the finalists. Best Of TV Awards 2012 Winner "Best Sci-fi Or Fantasy Actor" NORMAN REEDUS (The Walking Dead)1/26/2013 The Best Actor in an Sci-fi Or Fantasy series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. NORMAN REEDUS "THE WALKING DEAD".
Anyone thats followed my awards from the start probably would have lost their shirts betting on this, as the 8 time Best Of TV Awards winner Jensen Ackles was defeated in his quest to 3-peat as best actor. Instead, Norman Reedus protrayal as the tough as nails survivalist Daryl Dixon on "The Walking Dead" not just bumped off the 2X champ, but crushed him...and all it took was 1 tweet from the man himself. When Mr. Reedus sent out a simple tweet asking his 200K+ twitter followers to vote for him & the show, they responded fast. My site had its highest traffic volume day in recorded history as nearly 12000 unique users viewer my site that day. The previous record was about 5000. With the winner wrapped up in mere hours, Jensen Ackles from "Supernatural" was just playing out the vote to keep 2nd, which he did handily. In the final season of "Fringe" the man who saved the world John Noble nabbed 3rd, ahead of 2 more Supernatural stars Misha Collins & Jared Padalecki. Norman Reedus didnt just win his category, he essentially changed the voting for all 6 categories that were up for voting at that time as fans of The Walking Dead voted on all the categories and essentially swayed some results other than the sci-fi actor & show categories. Norman Reedus beat runner up Jensen Ackles by 3226 votes, back in 3rd was John Noble 783 votes behind the runner up & only 24 votes ahead of 4th place Misha Collins. Rounding out the finalists was Jared Padalecki only 7 votes behind Norman Reedus becomes the 1st person to defeat Jensen Ackles in ANY category. This is the largest victory margain ever in any category. This is also the largest vote total for any actor or actress. Jensen Ackles 1501 votes is the most by any actor/actress finalist to be runner up. Jensen Ackles & John Noble are the only actors to be finalists for an acting award here 3 years in a row. Final vote totals Norman Reedus "The Walking Dead" 4727 Jensen Ackles "Supernatural" 1501 John Noble "Fringe" 718 Misha Collins "Supernatural" 694 Jared Padalecki "Supernatural" 687 The Best Actress in an Sci-Fi or Fantasy series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. JENNIFER MORRISON "ONCE UPON A TIME".
Winning this award is finally a redemption for Ms. Morrison. She has been a finalist for 4 previous awards (sexiest actress 2012, Favorite character, Supporting actress & best drama/action actress 2011) with 2 runner ups & no awards. Her role as the nomadic bounty hunter turned saviour of fairie tale characters has put her back on the map after leaving "House". The 2010 Best Actress winner, the FBI agent turned enemy of the futuristic overlords of earth, Anna Torv from "Fringe" finished 2nd in the final season of the show. In 3rd was another "Once Upon A Time" actress Lana Parrilla as the evil queen/mayor of Storybrooke. 4th thru 6th were all from "Lost Girl" and I had assumed Zoie Palmer would probably win this award... but with an influx of new voters, mainly from The Walking Dead & Castle, changing the results of categories they werent even in, the 3 girls from Lost Girl. Anna Silk & Ksenia Solo round out the finalists. Jennifer Morrison beat runner up Anna Torv by 212 votes, back in 3rd was Lana Parrilla 62 votes behind the runner up & 408 votes ahead of 4th place Zoie Palmer. In 5th was Anna Silk 138 votes behind 4th & 106 ahead of Ksenia Solo, the 6th place finalist. Jennifer Morrison takes tha vacated title that was previously held by Erica Durance from Smallville. Before the actress category was split into 3 categories, the 2010 "Best actress" winner, Anna Torv has since finished runner up in the 2 years since. All of the finalists, with the exception of Zoie Palmer, were up for a best actress award last year, Morrison & Parrilla for drama/action, and Solo, Silk & Torv for sci-fi. Final vote totals Jennifer Morrison "Once Upon A Time" 1338 Anna Torv "Fringe" 1126 Lana Parrilla "Once Upon A Time" 1064 Zoie Palmer "Lost Girl" 656 Anna Silk "Lost Girl" 518 Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" 412 The Best Action Or Drama series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. CASTLE (ABC).
Winning the award for a 2nd time in a row, the show about a crime drama writer who becomes a crime fighter for the NYPD becomes the 1st repeat winner of this category, after it last year beat the inagural winner "Dexter" for the award. With the will they -wont they love mystery of the shows 2 lead characters resolved, a lot of questions on whether fans would stick around seem to have been answered as the show squeezed out a victory over another ABC drama, this one about the lives of the doctors at Seattles Grace Hospital "Grey's Anatomy". The 1st ever winner, the serial killer of serial killers "Dexter" climbs back up 1 spot to 3rd this year. The recently cancelled group of bad guys that make the best good guys "Leverage" takes 4th edging out last years runner up, the psycholigical crime drama "Criminal Minds". The action packed crime drama "Hawaii Five-O" snags 6th, and the fake psychic police consultant "The Mentalist" takes 7th. The man in the suit and his possee from "Person of Interest" take 8th. In 9th is the CIA turned enemy of the country turned spy turned enemy turned spy, rinse & repeat & his possee on "Burn Notice". Rounding out the finalists is the drama about a con-man turned police informant on "White Collar". Castle beat runner up Greys Anatomy by 70 votes, 3rd place Dexter was 171 votes behind. In 4th place was Leverage 160 votes behind, and 55 ahead of the 5th place Criminal Minds. In 6th was Hawaii Five-O 343 votes bac of 5th & 80 votes ahead of 7th The Mentalist. In 8th was Person Of Interest who missed 7th by just 5 votes, while beating 9th place Burn Notice by 146. White Collar was 10th, 45 votes behind. Castle repeats as Best action/drama program & the show picks up all the action/drama awards (Fillion - actr, Katic - actress) for the 2nd consecutive year. 8 of last years 10 finalists were back in the finals this year. Newcomers White Collar & Person Of Interest (up in the new program category last year) made the finals at the expense of recently ended House & CSI. Final vote totals Castle (ABC) 1390 Greys Anatomy (ABC) 1320 Dexter (HBO) 1149 Leverage (TNT) 989 Criminal Minds (CBS) 934 Hawaii Five-O (CBS 591 The Mentalist (CBS) 511 Person Of Interest (CBS) 506 Burn Notice (USA) 360 White Collar (USA) 315 The Best Actor in an Action Or Drama series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. NATHAN FILLION "CASTLE".
Winning the award for a 2nd time, Fillion has really not had too much in the way of challenge so far. Last year Hugh Laurie from "House" posed a bit of a threat, but was eventually thwarted, this year it was Alex O'Loughlin from "Hawaii Five-O" won the semi-final vote, however the wave of Castle fans flooded in & by the end of day 2 of the finals voting I knew in my mind this was over already. The man who brings crime fwriter turned crime fighter Richard Castle to life had enough nerve wracking moments this year to display his acting chops, whether it was engaging in romantic scenes with his co-star, staring down possible death or being a traumatized father seeing his daughter 1/2 dressed at a science fiction convention, Castle had a wild year & Fillion delivered it as well as anyone could.. Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson from "Person Of Interest" along with Bruce Campbell of "Burn Notice" were the other finalists and well back of the top 2 in the finals. Nathan Fillion beat runner up Alex O'Loughlin by 1127 votes, back in 3rd was Jim Caviezel 365 votes behind the runner up & only 8 votes ahead of 4th place Bruce Campbell. Rounding out the finalists was Michael Emerson 200 votes behind Nathan Fillion defends his title. Interestingly, there was 3 seperate leaders for the 3 rounds of voting. Alex O'Loughlin won the semi-finals round, Jim Caviezel won the nomination round. Fillion is the only finalist from last year in this years finals. Bruce Campbell is the only finalist not even nominated last year. Final vote totals Nathan Fillion "Castle" 2173 Alex O'Loughlin "Hawaii Five-O" 1046 Jim Caviezel "Person Of Interest" 681 Bruce Campbell "Burn Notice" 673 Michael Emerson "Person Of Interest" 473 The Best Actress In An Action Or Drama Program of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. STANA KATIC "CASTLE".
Early on it looked like a 3 horse race as Katic, Ellen Pompeo, the eventual runner up from "Grey's Anatomy" & Jennifer Carpenter "Dexter were within mere votes of each other for the 1st couple days. However, eventually the rush of support for Castle pushed on & eventually eliminated Carpenter from contention & in the last day had enough of a push to give the modest breathing room Stana had over Ellen to turn it into a comfortable win. This category was influenced stats wise by a rush of voters that came in from The Walking Dead, as their fans voted on the awards that their show ere in at that time in the sci-fi/fantasy categories, which were on at the same time as the Action/drama categories. Michelle Dockery from "Downton Abbey" and Mireille Enos of "The Killing" got left behind early by the throngs of supporters for the top 3. Eventually Katic, the actress who plays "Castle" detective Kate Beckett triumphed. Stana Katic beat runner up Ellen Pompeo by 281 votes. In 3rd was Jennifer Carpenter 292 votes out of 2nd & 635 votes ahead of 4th place Michelle Dockery who finished 306 votes ahead of the final finalist Mireille Enos. Stana Katic wins this award for the 2nd year in a row. She is also the only actress to make the finals last year & this year in this category. Despite being in the same roles last year, Pompeo, Carpenter & Dockery were not even nominated last year, and Enos didnt get out of the nomination round... of course, with the "Sci-fi" category now being re-named "Sci-fi or fantasy" category, nominees from Once Upon A Time & Game Of Thrones who provided challenges last year have moved, leaving the door open for new challengers. Final vote totals Stana Katic "Castle" 1787 Ellen Pompeo "Grey's Anatomy" 1506 Jennifer Carpenter "Dexter" 1214 Michelle Dockery "Downton Abbey" 579 Mireille Enos "The Killing" 273 The Best Comedy Program of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. THE BIG BANG THEORY (CBS).
With the Best actor & Best actress award this year, the win for Best Comedy seemed inevitable for the CBS comedy about a group of nerds and their girls. As the show has developed & matured, its gone from a group of brilliant nerds (Jim Parsons as "Sheldon Cooper", Johnny Galecki as "Leonard Hofstadter", Kunal Nayyar as "Raj Koothrappalli" and Simon Helberg as "Howard Wolowitz") and 1 girl ( 2011 Best Comedy Actress Kaley Cuoco as "Penny") to a group of nerds and 3 girls, as the additions of this years Best Comedy Actress Mayim Bialik as "Amy Farrah Fowler" & Melissa Rauch as "Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz" have rounded out an already talented cast even more. Runner up this year is the NBC comedy about people at a Community College "Community". Despite their network screwing with them purposely repeatedly, the fans of the show keep demanding more & show it over & over again by making their voices heard on the internet, here being no different. The runner up last year "How I Met Your Mother" finished 3rd this year as the series starts to wind down. Comedy crime solvers from "Psych" nabbed 4th, ahead of the popular ABC comedy "Modern Family". "The Big Bang Theory" beat runner up "Community" by 147 votes, 3rd place "How I Met Your Mother" was narrowly beat out for 2nd by just 4 votes, while beating 4th place "Psych" by 59 votes. Rounding out the finalists was "Modern family" 11 votes back The Big Bang Theory wins the 3rd consecutive honour & sweeps this years Comedy categories with Best actor (Parsons) & actress (Bialik) giving them 6 total Comedy honours in the 3 years of these awards (10- Best comedy show, 11 - comedy show, actress, 12- comedy show, actress & actor). Modern Family was the only finalist to not be a finalist last year. Community has moved up 1 spot each year from 4th to 3rd to 2nd. Final vote totals The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 308 Community (NBC) 161 How I Met Your Mother (CBS) 157 Psych (USA) 98 Modern Family (ABC) 87 |
