GAME OF THRONES 336 SUPERNATURAL 308 ONCE UPON A TIME 283 AGENTS OF SHIELD 247 DOCTOR WHO 225 HAVEN 216 ORPHAN BLACK 209 THE WALKING DEAD 183 LOST GIRL 177 THE VAMPIRE DIARIES 140 SLEEPY HOLLOW 131, GRIMM 119, AMERICAN HORROR STORY 97, CONTINUUM 93, REVOLUTION 85, FALLING SKIES 63, WITCHES OF EAST END 58, UNDER THE DOME 57, DEFIANCE 49 The Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor category has generally belonged to Supernatural star Jensen Ackles (2012 Norman Reedus of The Walkign Dead being the only 1 to topple his reign). This year he looks poised for another victory barring another Norman Reedus tweet style like in 2012 from 1 of the challengers. This year, the main challenger appears to be rookie sci-fi or fantasy drama star Grant Gustin from The Flash. With only 7 of last years 12 finalists back this year in the finals (although the entire top 6 is back), there is some new blood. Led of course by semi-finals runner up Grant Gustin, 4th place Clark Gregg of Agents Of SHIELD who was a semi-finalist last year, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game Of Thrones who seemingly replaced Kit Harington as the GoT 2nd challengers this year to Peter Dinklage. Another newcomer, Peter Capaldi from Doctor Who also makes it, and finally Colin O'Donoghue, a semi-finalist last year makes the finals this year. Last years runner up, Eric Balfour from haven is back, as are Peter Dinklage, Robert Carlyle & Misha Collins. Dinklage managed to place 3rd, but the other 2 barely scraped into the finals, in 10th & 11th, just ahead of the 2012 winner Reedus who slipped into the final spot by a mere 9 votes. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actress category will more than likely have a new Winner this year. Last years winner Zoie Palmer is ineligible for the category this year because of the schedule that her show Lost Girl had this season. The 2012 winner Jennifer Morrison from Once Upon A Time is in the finals, but came in 5th, and was 2nd from her own show behind Lana Parrilla, and along with Ginnifer Goodwin makes 3 finalists for her show, and likely will cause a vote split to water down her chances of reclaiming the title. Tatiana Maslany from orphan Black comes in as the odds on favorite after her opening round 3rd place standing, she managed to win the semi-final vote. A 1st time finalist Lena Headey from Game Of Thrones finished 2nd in the semi-final vote ahead of another 1st time finalist Ming-Na Wen for Agents Of SHIELD. Last years runner up Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones came in 7th, while last years 3rd place finalist Emily Rose of Haven came in 4th. Agents Of SHIELD nabbed 2 other finalist spots with Chloe Bennet & Elizabeth Henstridge, giving them as many finalists as Once Upon A Time. Melissa McBride of The Walking Dead and Jenna Coleman from Doctor Who tied for the last 2 spots. Notable ommisions this year are Rachel Nichols from Continuum who finished 6th last year, Emilie de Ravin from Once Upon A Time who finished 8th & Lexa Doig from Continuum who finished 10th. All who made the semi-finals, but missed making the finals by varying margins. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy program category looks like it could be a battle for Supernatural to try & take its 4th title in the category. The semi-final vote went to Game Of Thrones with 336, a bit behind them was Supernatural still well in the mix at 308. Once Upon A Time managed a 3rd place showing. Last years runner up Lost Girl limped in at 9th, while the 3rd place finalist last year Doctor Who was 5th. Newcomers to the finals this year include Agents Of SHIELD in 4th, Orphan Black in 7th & The Vampire Diaries re-entering the finals for the 1st time since 2010 when it was entered as a Drama before the guidelines of the categories were more solidified, snuck in at 10th place. Only absentees from last year were the now retired Fringe, and Continuum. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE

The opening round generated 94,550 total votes. Of those, 5,081 were write-in votes. Unfortunately, only 2,299 were valid write in votes. Leaving 2,782 failed write in votes. More sad, this is not even the worst year percentage wise of ineligible write in votes.
As some of you who follow me on twitter, facebook, tumblr or right here on this site know, I have warned many people this year about writing in nominees in categories they either A- are already nominated in, or B- are not eligible for. As you have surely noticed on prior results posted. Votes for write in votes of already nominated challengers were taken off their total in the round 1 results. HOWEVER, as we all know, when you add up the write in votes, and the votes shown for write in votes...they don't even come close to adding up. This is where the write in votes for people, or shows NOT eligible in a category come in. I have tabulated a SUBSTANTIAL list of them over the 27 categories. As I said repeatedly, doing this would lead to penalties. This year, I have decided the best way to do this is to take votes against a person/character and add them all up, divide them by all the categories they are eligible for round 2 in. So say "Person A" had 72 bad votes, and are eligible in 3 categories, they would have 24 votes against them in each category to be taken off. How this will be done is, this round, 75% of those votes will be taken off. 18, per category. If the person still makes the finals in all 3 categories, the other 25% will be taken out there, costing them 6 votes each category there. If they only make it in 1 category, all the left over votes will go into the 1 category then, meaning 18 votes will be lost by person A in that category in the finals. If they don't make any finals, then the penalties just vanish since the person whose fans made the incorrect votes was eliminated. I saw several "whats it matter, its not hurting anyone" comments. Which I suppose is technically right. I mean I wasn't physically harmed (as far as I know) from counting all the excess votes. HOWEVER, my TIME and patience were wasted to add them all up. Each write in vote has to be added up manually because of the countless spelling and punctuation varieties fans came up with for some of them. For 3 years I have warned fans thru the various social media platforms, as well as on here, this COULD happen....and several fanbases chose to ignore the statements. Thus why this year, those votes WILL be collected off the totals. Perhaps NEXT YEAR, certain fan bases will read things more thoroughly. I did NOT keep track of anyone with less than 3 votes, as about 20% of the nominees had at least 1 against them.... and that's a LOT of people to track. Only the more frequent offenders were catalogued. 1280 - Zoie Palmer/Lauren Lewis (5 selections) 441 - Emmanuelle Vaugier/Evony the Morrigan (1 selection) 71 - Anna Silk/Bo Dennis (4 selections) 46 - Ksenia Solo/Kenzi (3 selections) 27 - Kris Holden-Ried (3 selections) 9 - Lana Parrilla/Evil Queen (3 selections) 7 - Melissa McBride/Carol Peletier (2 selection) 7- Norman Reedus/Daryl Dixon (3 selections) 6 - Emily Bett Rickards/Felicity Smoak (5 selections) 6- Chandler Riggs/Carl Grimes (1 selection) 5- James Roday/Shawn Spencer (3 selections) 4- John Barrowman/Malcolm Merlyn (2 selections) 3- Stephen Amell/Oliver Queen (4 selections) 3- Christopher Gormham/Auggie Anderson (1 selection) 50 - Lost girl (9 selections) 8 - Once Upon A Time (4 selections) 7- The Walking Dead (6 selections) 6- Supernatural (11 selections) 4- Murdoch Mysteries (5 selections) 3- Orphan Black (2 selections) 3- Outlander (1 selection) 3- The 100 (1 selection) The largest vote total for a candidate in round 1 was - 4,996 for Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis "Lost Girl" in Best Couple. The smallest vote total of a qualifier for the semi-finals was - 22 Greg Mottola "Run" (The Newsroom) in Best Director The Best Of TV Awards 2013 winner in the category of Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actress is Zoie Palmer "Lost Girl". The fanbase for "Lost Girl" has show over the years here they are a passionate bunch. Constantly contenders for show & actress awards, Finally, they have their 1st major award here, as Zoie Palmer takes the 2013 Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actress award. With the 2012 winner Jennifer Morrison missing the finals, and the runner up Anna Torv not eligible for the award, Palmer, 4th in 2012, was suddenly a serious consideration for 2013 & narrowly won, beating out "Game Of Thrones" Emilia Clarke by 3 votes, 505 to 502. In 3rd was Emily Rose "Haven" which I would consider the 2013 break-out show for making an impact here, with 493 votes. In 4th was Lana Parrilla "Once Upon A Time". In 5th Tatiana Maslany "Orphan Black". In 6th Rachel Nichols "Continuum". In 7th Emilie de Ravin "Once Upon A Time". In 8th Anna Silk "Lost Girl". In 9th Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl". In 10th Lexa Doig "Continuum". Day 1 Emily Rose took a quick & large lead & held on to it thru most of the voting. Day 5 Zoie Palmer took the lead. Day 7 Palmer & Emilia Clarke shared the lead 6 times between them before Palmer managed to hold on in the end. Zoie Palmer win by just 3 votes is the smallest in category history. Previous record was 212 in 2012 by Jennifer Morrison. RESULTS 1st ZOIE PALMER "Lost Girl" 505 2nd Emilia Clarke "Game Of Thrones" 502 3rd Emily Rose "Haven" 493 4th Lana Parrilla "Once Upon A Time" 456" 5th Tatiana Maslany "Orphan Black" 438 6th Rachel Nichols "Continuum" 328 7th Emilie de Ravin "Once Upon A Time" 311 8th Anna Silk "Lost Girl" 308 9th Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" 171 10th Lexa Doig "Continuum" 159 Best Of TV Awards 2013 - Semi-final results for Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor, Actress and Program1/18/2014 The Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor, Actress & Program semi-final voting produced a couple minor out of left field shockers. Best Program Category leader was a finalist for best New Program last year. The Canadian sci-fi cop from the future show "Continuum" beat out former 2X champ "Supernatural" 488 to 446 votes. Not too far back in 3rd is 2X finalist contender "Lost Girl" at 431 votes. Rounding out the top 5, 1st time finalist "Doctor Who" & 2011 best New Program winner "Once Upon A Time". The rest of the finalists are - "Game Of Thrones", "Haven", 3X finalist "Fringe" & the defending champion "The Walking Dead" who limped in to the finals in the last spot. Missing the finals - "Grimm" & 2010 finalist "Warehouse 13" were well back at 60 & 61 votes behind. Best Actor category, after a 1 year anomoly last year that saw a member of The Walking Dead win, seems to once again be going all Supernatural's way. The 2010 Best Actor & 2011 winner of this category Jensen Ackles finds himself in a battle with his co-star, Misha Collins. Collins narrowly beating the 2X champ by just 3 votes 610 to 607. Back in 3rd is "Continuum" leading man Victor Webster at 385 votes. Rounding out the top 5. the 3x finalist Jared Padalecki "Supernatural" & Robert Carlyle "Once Upon A Time". Finalist last year Zoie Palmer "Lost Girl" who plays Dr. Lauren Lewis, a regular finalist on our awards & season end contests, led voting in the semi-finals with 462 votes. Missing the finals - Jennifer Spence "Continuum" by just 12 votes behind her cast mate. Defending champion Jennifer Morrison "Once Upon A Time" came 31 votes short of a finals spot. The finals started January 5, 2014 in some categories. These categories start later tonight, January 18, 2014 HERE. The Sci-fi and Fantasy categories are often some of the most voted on, but its usually with clear run away winners in each one. This year, looks like that wont be happening. The Sci-fi/fantasy program category, which last year was dominated by The Walking Dead after the shows star Norman Reedus told fans to vote, seems to have some real competition this year. Lost Girl lead round 1 voting with 8941 votes. Continuum was 2nd & for most of the time till the last few hours, was continually leapfrogging LG for 1st. Haven rounded out the top 3 not too far behind either. Rounding out the top 5, the 2010 & 2011 winner Supernatural & 2011 New Show winner Once Upon A Time. The rest of the semi-finalists include Doctor Who, 2012 Winner The Walking Dead, Fringe, Game Of Thrones, Warehouse 13, Falling Skies, The Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Teen Wolf & Primeval New World. All of last years finalists made the semi-finals this year. The Sci-fi/fantasy actor category might not go to last years winner, OR the 2 time winner Jensen Ackles, neither of which even snagged a top 3 spot. Robert Carlyle "Once Upon A Time" had a dominating 16,588 1st round votes for a commanding lead. Well back, with 5817 was Misha Collins "Supernatural", rounding out the top 3 was Michael Raymond James "Once Upon A Time" The top 5 is filled out with 2011 winner & 2010 Best Actor winner Jensen Ackles "Supernatura; & Victor Webster "Continuum". Till those categories are officially done, here is CURRENT list of semi-finalists for these categories. Best Episode. With much, much more competition this year, the 2 time winners of the award, Supernatural will be in for a fight this year to three-peat. Once a candidate has been nominated once, no more nominations are required.... so please don't nominate people already listed above The Best Actress in an Sci-Fi or Fantasy series of 2012 as voted by you the fans was.. JENNIFER MORRISON "ONCE UPON A TIME".
Winning this award is finally a redemption for Ms. Morrison. She has been a finalist for 4 previous awards (sexiest actress 2012, Favorite character, Supporting actress & best drama/action actress 2011) with 2 runner ups & no awards. Her role as the nomadic bounty hunter turned saviour of fairie tale characters has put her back on the map after leaving "House". The 2010 Best Actress winner, the FBI agent turned enemy of the futuristic overlords of earth, Anna Torv from "Fringe" finished 2nd in the final season of the show. In 3rd was another "Once Upon A Time" actress Lana Parrilla as the evil queen/mayor of Storybrooke. 4th thru 6th were all from "Lost Girl" and I had assumed Zoie Palmer would probably win this award... but with an influx of new voters, mainly from The Walking Dead & Castle, changing the results of categories they werent even in, the 3 girls from Lost Girl. Anna Silk & Ksenia Solo round out the finalists. Jennifer Morrison beat runner up Anna Torv by 212 votes, back in 3rd was Lana Parrilla 62 votes behind the runner up & 408 votes ahead of 4th place Zoie Palmer. In 5th was Anna Silk 138 votes behind 4th & 106 ahead of Ksenia Solo, the 6th place finalist. Jennifer Morrison takes tha vacated title that was previously held by Erica Durance from Smallville. Before the actress category was split into 3 categories, the 2010 "Best actress" winner, Anna Torv has since finished runner up in the 2 years since. All of the finalists, with the exception of Zoie Palmer, were up for a best actress award last year, Morrison & Parrilla for drama/action, and Solo, Silk & Torv for sci-fi. Final vote totals Jennifer Morrison "Once Upon A Time" 1338 Anna Torv "Fringe" 1126 Lana Parrilla "Once Upon A Time" 1064 Zoie Palmer "Lost Girl" 656 Anna Silk "Lost Girl" 518 Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" 412 |
