The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Comedy Program is.... The Big Bang Theory (CBS) Fivepeat for The Big Bang Theory for Best Comedy Program. Now officially, the only 5 time winner in any category. The show about a group of nerdy, socially awkward scientists and their girlfriends has been a hit everywhere for several years. TBBT crushed both the most votes record of 892 & margin of victory 439 that it set last year with an incredible 1,720 votes & a margin of victory of 1,190 over 3 time 2nd place finalist How I Met Your Mother with just 530 votes. In 3rd, alos in its last year is Psych with 526 giving it the shows 1st top 3 finish after 2 4ths & a 5th in years prior. In 4th was Modern Family up 1 spot from the 5th place its had the last two years. In 5th was 2010 runner up & last years 3rd place finalist Glee. In 6th was 2 Broke Girls, the same place it ended last year. In 7th Brooklyn Nine-Nine in its 1st year of eligibility. I shudder to think what the margin of victory might be next year with the 2nd & 3rd place finalists this year now retired. Jensen Ackles, 1 of the stars of "Supernatural" wins his 2nd Best Director award in 3 years for "Soul Survivor" this year. With 1,032 votes it sets a new category record, and 706 vote lead is also a category record. Well back in 2nd was Director X for a "Lost Girl" episode Waves. John Behring was 3rd for his work on Unthinkable, the "Arrow" season 2 finale. In 4th Thomas J. Wright "Supernatural" Do You Believe in Miracles" managed to syphon 137 votes away from Jensen Ackles. In 5th & 6th were Amanda Tapping’s "Continuum" episodes Wasting Minute & Waning Minute. Neil Marshall "Game Of Thrones" finished 7th for The Watchers Of The Wall. Neil Patrick harris of How I Met Your Mother winning the inagural title, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory winning in 2012, Chris Colfer of Glee winning last years. This year, they go into the finals as the top 3 vote getters in the semi-finals with last years winner Colfer finishing with a massive lead. The likelyhood that this years winner will not be a former winner is pretty unlikely as 4th & 5th are both from shows that the top 3 are from, and finished well back. Perrenial 1st round powerhouse Timothy Omundson, in his characters swan song will take 1 last crack to win, but odds are steep as his co-star James Roday from Psych also made the finals, which will split the limited vote pootl of this show probably. Every finalist from last year is back this year except the late Cory Monteith from Glee. Andy Samberg of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the only newcomer to the category finals. The Comedy Actress award looks poised to he another Big Bang Theory showdown with the only winners in the shows history. 2 Time winner Kaley Cuoco looks to defend her 2013 award against her co-star 2012 winner Mayim Bialik. Last years 3rd place finalist Alyson Hannigan from How I Met Your Mother, in her final run at the honour, again looks poised for a 3rd place finish if the semi-finals are an indication. 7 of the 10 finalists last year are back, only Zooey Deschanel, Alison Brie & Cobie Smulders are not back. Orange Is The New Black actresses Uzo Aduba & Taylor Schilling find themselves in the finals, along with Sofia Vergara from Modern Family for her 1st time and Amy Poehler of Parks & Recreation. The Comedy Program looks poised to stay in the hands of The Big Bang Theory. Arrow has 2 of the top 3, including John Behring for "Unthinkable" as the top vote getter, narrowly beating out 2012 winner Jensen Ackles for "Soul Survivor" on Supernatural. Douglas Aarniokoski on "Seeing Red" rounds out the bookends of the Arrow Supernatural Arrow trio. Amanda Tapping managed 2 finalist spots with her 2 part Continuum episodes. Besides 2012 winner Ackles, Pamela Fryman "How Your Mother Met Me" is the only other previous contender for Best Director, making the semi-finals last year. Last years winning show Glee, had no finalists this year as their 2 semi-finalist contenders did not advance. The Best Episode category, aka - "favorite Supernatural episode" in the years past could be a hard one to predict. Supernatural is well represented in the finals. SEVEN finalists for the 3X Winning show, Arrow and Lost Girl managed 5, while Castle has 4. While it would SEEM to be a safe bet with Arrow & Supernatural dominating the top 8 spots that they are a shoe in to win, theres then the fact that in the finals the amount of challengers you can vote for will be limited to 2 or 3. Vote splitting is always a problem when a show shoves too many of its challengers into a finals. Perhaps The Flash or Murdoch Mysteries with their 1 singular nominee will win because their fans will not be split on who to vote for. Also, an error occurred in listing for a couple days of this category. One of the Arrow finalists, The Secret Origins Of Felicity Smoak was mistakenly listed as Draw Back Your Bow for awhile, so if you voted for DBYB & wonder where it is.... is was changed to TSOOFS during the round after the error was noticed. While the actor category has had 3 winners from 3 different shows, and TBBT has split the best actress honours between two of their lead females, the show just cant be stopped. The group of 4 geeks & a hot girl has branched out over the past few years, and now sees a 7 character cast that seems to be nowhere near the end of its road in its 7th season. The Big Bang Theory nabbed 892 votes. Well back in 2nd is another CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother" with 453 votes. In 3rd was FOX hit "Glee" with 311 votes. In 4th "Psych". In 5th "Modern Family". Most unexpected win this year may be Chris Colfer. Not even nominated last year, and only a semi-finalist in 2011, Colfer won this year despite being last after the 1st 2 days of the voting. Once fans of the man who brings openly gay character Kurt Hummel to life on "Glee" realized he was in the finals, they rallied support for him quickly. Colfer won with 917 votes. Runner up was the 2012 Winner Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" with 727 votes. In 3rd was the 2011 Winner Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" with 624 votes.
