Neil Patrick harris of How I Met Your Mother winning the inagural title, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory winning in 2012, Chris Colfer of Glee winning last years. This year, they go into the finals as the top 3 vote getters in the semi-finals with last years winner Colfer finishing with a massive lead. The likelyhood that this years winner will not be a former winner is pretty unlikely as 4th & 5th are both from shows that the top 3 are from, and finished well back. Perrenial 1st round powerhouse Timothy Omundson, in his characters swan song will take 1 last crack to win, but odds are steep as his co-star James Roday from Psych also made the finals, which will split the limited vote pootl of this show probably. Every finalist from last year is back this year except the late Cory Monteith from Glee. Andy Samberg of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the only newcomer to the category finals. The Comedy Actress award looks poised to he another Big Bang Theory showdown with the only winners in the shows history. 2 Time winner Kaley Cuoco looks to defend her 2013 award against her co-star 2012 winner Mayim Bialik. Last years 3rd place finalist Alyson Hannigan from How I Met Your Mother, in her final run at the honour, again looks poised for a 3rd place finish if the semi-finals are an indication. 7 of the 10 finalists last year are back, only Zooey Deschanel, Alison Brie & Cobie Smulders are not back. Orange Is The New Black actresses Uzo Aduba & Taylor Schilling find themselves in the finals, along with Sofia Vergara from Modern Family for her 1st time and Amy Poehler of Parks & Recreation. The Comedy Program looks poised to stay in the hands of The Big Bang Theory. The only show to win ever Best Show category it is eligible for since the invention of these awards has the inside track on winning a 5th straight with continual contenders Glee & How I Met Your Mother making up the best chance at an upset. Psych in its final run will also take 1 last crack at the title in its 4th & final finals. Only newcomer to the mix this year is Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a semi-finalists in the New Progrma category last year. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE

JIM PARSONS "THE BIG BANG THEORY".
Last year The Big Bang Theory was thwarted from sweeping the comedy categories by "How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris. Not so this year. Jim Parsons, the man who plays the super brilliant, stubbornly ignorant, socially awkward Dr. Sheldon Cooper managed to take an award that has been given to him by practically every other awards ceremony and website in the past couple years. With Neil Patrick Harris' character of Barney Stinson becoming more mature & settling down, his role of ladies man has been hindered & a,logn with it, seemingly, his popularity. Danny Pudi as the wonderfully complex & simple Abed on "Community" garnered a 3rd place finish ahead "Psych" star Timothy Omundson wo potrays the by the book detective "carlton "Lassie" Lassiter". Cory Monteith from "Glee' finished well back in 5th. Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" beat runner up Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" by 86 votes, 3rd place Danny Pudi "Community" was 59 behind 2nd and 80 ahead of 4th place Timothy Omundson from "Psych". Well back in 5th was Cory Monteith "Glee" 44 votes behind 4th Jim Parsons beats defending champion Neil Patrick Harris. This is the 2nd win for best comedy actor by a CBS show. Timothy Omundson is the only finalist this year who was not in last years finals. Final vote totals Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" 305 Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" 219 Danny Pudi "Community" 160 Timothy Omundson "Psych" 80 Cory Monteith "Glee" 36 Here are the results for the Semi-finals categories of the Canadagraphs BEST OF TV AWARDS 2012.
This set of categories dealt with Best actor in comedy, sci-fi/fantasy, or action/drama, as well as Supporting actor. FINALISTS are in BOLD text. The Best Comedy actor category this year has had an unexpected challenger.... "Psych" star Timothy Omundson has taken the lead in both rounds of voting. Last years runner up "The Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons has been 2nd in both rounds. The 2011 winner Neil Patrick harris from "How I Met Your Mother" has been 3rd in both rounds. Cory Monteith from "Glee" nabbed 4th, while Danny Pudi of "Community" takes the final spot. Results for Best Comedy actor Semi-finals voting Timothy Omundson "Psych" 474 Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" 130 Neil Patrick Harris "How I Met Your Mother" 124 Cory Monteith "Glee" 105 Danny Pudi "Community" 75 Johnny Galecki "The Big Bang Theory" 58 James Roday "Psych" 53 Dule Hill "Psych" 51 Jason Segel "How I Met Your Mother" 49 Donald Glover "Community" 39 Alec Baldwin "30 Rock" 27 Charlie Sheen "Anger Management" 17 Best sci-fi/fantasy actor category looks again to be a likely runaway win for last years winner, and the 2010 Best Actor winner Jensen Ackles of "Supernatural". His castmates Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins round out the top 3, while "Fringe" star John Noble takes 4th & Norman Reedus from "The Walking Dead" squeaks into the final spot by 6 votes ahead of "The Secret Circle" star Gale Harold. Results for Best Sci-fi or Fantasy actor Semi-finals voting Jensen Ackles "Supernatural" 679 Jared Padalecki "Supernatural" 311 Misha Collins "Supernatural" 171 John Noble "Fringe" 159 Norman Reedus "The Walking Dead" 158 Gale Harold "The Secret Circle" 152 Joshua Jackson "Fringe" 145 Andrew Lincoln "The Walking Dead" 102 Robert Carlyle "Once Upon A Time" 98 Peter Dinklage "Game Of Thrones" 78 Ian Somerhalder "The Vampire Diaries" 70 Josh Dallas "Once Upon A Time" 68 Michael Kopsa "Fringe" 61 Seth Gabel "Fringe" 59 Best action/drama actor category looked like it might be a Person Of Interest uncontested sweep after the nomination round, but the semi-finals saw a different leader. "Hawaii Five-O" star Alex O'Loughlin took the lead spot, ahead of "Castle" star & the 2011 winner, Nathan Fillion. 3rd was the nomination round leader "Person Of Interest" star Jim Caviezel. "Burn Notice" star Bruce Campbell grabbed 4th, as Michael Emerson of "Person Of Interest" rounded out the top 5. Results for Best Action or Drama actor Semi-finals voting Alex O'Loughlin "Hawaii Five-O" 439 Nathan Fillion "Castle" 288 Jim Caviezel "Person Of Interest" 248 Bruce Campbell "Burn Notice" 222 Michael Emerson "Person Of Interest" 208 Michael C. Hall "Dexter" 160 Jeffrey Donovan "Burn Notice" 121 Hugh Laurie "House" 99 Damian Lewis "Homeland" 75 Thomas Gibson "Criminal Minds" 69 Shemar Moore "Criminal Minds" 64 Joel Kinnaman "The Killing" 58 Timothy Olyphant "Justified" 48 Charlie Hunnam "Sons Of Anarchy" 42 Gabriel Mann "Revenge" 26 When I created the Supporting actor/actress categories, it didnt really occur to me that someone might win it 2 years in a row for the same show... The guidelines I put in place, where the Supporting awards are given to actors who have a minimum 3 & maximumum 7 appearances in the year is vastly different than the major awards "supporting" actor/actress awards. Because of this, I didnt think there woud be too many times where there would be someone up for the award twice, in a row, let alone win it... Best Supporting Actor category was dominated by Supernatural cast members, as they took the top 4 spots. The winner of last years award, Mark Sheppard is headed into the final as the semi-finals leader, besting his other SPN bretheren Ty Olsson, Jim Beaver & Osric Chau. "Fringe" star Michael Cerveris took 5th. I felt compelled to extend this category to 7 because of the SPN dominance "Dexter" baddie Ray Stevenson & "Fringe" baddie Jared Harris tied for the final spot. Results for Best Supporting Actor Semi-finals voting Mark Sheppard "Supernatural" 259 Ty Olsson "Supernatural" 147 Jim Beaver "Supernatural" 143 Osric Chau "Supernatural" 106 Michael Cerveris "Fringe" 83 Ray Stevenson "Dexter" 82 Jared Harris "Fringe" 82 Kurt Fuller "Psych" 68 Wil Wheaton "Eureka" 39 Shaun Smyth "Fringe" 21 The Best Guest star finals appear to be a Supernatural vs Fringe battle as 5 of the 6 finalists come form those 2 shows. With 5 of the 10 semi-finalists it was a near mathematical probability Supernatural would have at least someone in the finals. SPN guest star DJ Qualls leader in both rounds, goes into the finals as the favorite. Another SPN'er was 2nd this round, Felicia Day. Fringe sporadically seen mastermind Leonard Nimoy was 3rd, Supernatural's Mark Pellegrino 4th, Fringe guest star Rebecca Mader nabbed 5th, while Wil Wheaton of The Big Bang Theory in the final couple hours closed a 5 vote gap to tie Mader for the 5th spot. Results for Best Guest Star Semi-finals voting DJ Qualls "Supernatural" 106 Felicia Day "Supernatural" 92 Leonard Nimoy "Fringe" 89 Mark Pellegrino "Supernatural" 75 Rebecca Mader "Fringe" 61 Wil Wheaton "The Big Bang Theory" 61 Cary Elwes "Psych" 50 Mark Sheppard "Leverage" 45 Kevin McNally "Supernatural" 42 Madison McLoughlin "Supernatural" 27 FINALS VOTING will start in early January Here http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/best-of-tv-awards.html |
