This years winner of Favorite Character is also this years winner of our annual May Madness Character tournament. Samantha Groves - aka Root, played by Amy Acker from "Person of Interest" wins the award this year. Finishing 23rd last year, Root has really made her mark in the past year online. The psychopathic assassin that has turned more good than evil recently was really taken for a ride this year. She started the year by fighting Samaratan as they tried to destroy the stock market, got a kiss from her crush and of course help try to save the life of The Machine. The win my Root is the 2nd in a row for a female character. 4th place finisher this year Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won last year, ending a 4 year run of this years runner up Dean Winchester "Supernatural". In 3rd was a newcomer to the BOTVA finals Lexa The Commander "The 100". Sam Winchester finishes 5th for the 2nd time, and 4th top 5 finish in his 6 years in the finals. Kate Beckett "Castle" finishes an all time best 6th this year, 1 spot up from last year in her 4th finals. Oliver Queen/ The Green Arrow "Arrow" is 7th one spot down from last year in his 3rd finals. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" is 8th place tie in her 4th finals. Clarke Griffin "The 100" makes it into the top 10 in also in 8th place in her first finals. Liv Moore "iZombie" also on her first finals, makes it into 10th. SUPERNATURAL (CW) Four wins in 5 years for the show about a couple brothers who hunt evil things, while angels & demons help & hinder their jobs. Supernatural wins in the smallest margin of victory in the history of the category, 925 votes narrowly beats this years runner up, last years 3rd place finalist Doctor Who by 18, with 907. In 3rd is the 2011 Best New Program winner & last years 6th place finalist Once Upon A Time with 742 votes. In 4th is Agents of SHIELD with 572. In 5th is Game Of Thrones, the same spot it had last year. In 6th is the 2012 Sci-Fi or Fantasy Program winner The Walking Dead. In 7th is last years runner up Lost Girl. The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Couple is.... Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow" I suppose the characters played by this years Sexiest Actor & Actress Winners seemed like a safe bet for the Best Couple category. Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from "Arrow" or as theya re more known by their fans "Olicity" win this years Best Couple. Beating out the 2X champions from "Lost Girl" Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis & the 2013 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" With 1,745 Olicity sets a new record for votes in this category i the finals, breaking the old mark of 1,350 by last years winners Lauren & Bo. The 482 vote margin of victory also is a new record, breaing last years mark of 266. Olicity had the lead in voting from the beginning of voting & never relinquished it. The couple known as Doccubus from "Lost Girl" Lauren & Bo came in 2nd with a total of 1,263. Which was well ahead of the 2012 Champions Richard & Kate (Caskett) from "Castle" in 3rd. Well back in 4th was Captain Hook & Emma Swan (Captain Swan) from "Once Upon A Time" with 308 votes. Last year 2 OUAT couples made the finals, this year neither of them were back, seemingly being replaced by CaptainSwan. In 5th is another Lost Girl duo, Kenzi & Hale Santiago. This year he looks poised for another victory barring another Norman Reedus tweet style like in 2012 from 1 of the challengers. This year, the main challenger appears to be rookie sci-fi or fantasy drama star Grant Gustin from The Flash. With only 7 of last years 12 finalists back this year in the finals (although the entire top 6 is back), there is some new blood. Led of course by semi-finals runner up Grant Gustin, 4th place Clark Gregg of Agents Of SHIELD who was a semi-finalist last year, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game Of Thrones who seemingly replaced Kit Harington as the GoT 2nd challengers this year to Peter Dinklage. Another newcomer, Peter Capaldi from Doctor Who also makes it, and finally Colin O'Donoghue, a semi-finalist last year makes the finals this year. Last years runner up, Eric Balfour from haven is back, as are Peter Dinklage, Robert Carlyle & Misha Collins. Dinklage managed to place 3rd, but the other 2 barely scraped into the finals, in 10th & 11th, just ahead of the 2012 winner Reedus who slipped into the final spot by a mere 9 votes. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actress category will more than likely have a new Winner this year. Last years winner Zoie Palmer is ineligible for the category this year because of the schedule that her show Lost Girl had this season. The 2012 winner Jennifer Morrison from Once Upon A Time is in the finals, but came in 5th, and was 2nd from her own show behind Lana Parrilla, and along with Ginnifer Goodwin makes 3 finalists for her show, and likely will cause a vote split to water down her chances of reclaiming the title. Tatiana Maslany from orphan Black comes in as the odds on favorite after her opening round 3rd place standing, she managed to win the semi-final vote. A 1st time finalist Lena Headey from Game Of Thrones finished 2nd in the semi-final vote ahead of another 1st time finalist Ming-Na Wen for Agents Of SHIELD. Last years runner up Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones came in 7th, while last years 3rd place finalist Emily Rose of Haven came in 4th. Agents Of SHIELD nabbed 2 other finalist spots with Chloe Bennet & Elizabeth Henstridge, giving them as many finalists as Once Upon A Time. Melissa McBride of The Walking Dead and Jenna Coleman from Doctor Who tied for the last 2 spots. Notable ommisions this year are Rachel Nichols from Continuum who finished 6th last year, Emilie de Ravin from Once Upon A Time who finished 8th & Lexa Doig from Continuum who finished 10th. All who made the semi-finals, but missed making the finals by varying margins. The Sci-Fi or Fantasy program category looks like it could be a battle for Supernatural to try & take its 4th title in the category. The semi-final vote went to Game Of Thrones with 336, a bit behind them was Supernatural still well in the mix at 308. Once Upon A Time managed a 3rd place showing. Last years runner up Lost Girl limped in at 9th, while the 3rd place finalist last year Doctor Who was 5th. Newcomers to the finals this year include Agents Of SHIELD in 4th, Orphan Black in 7th & The Vampire Diaries re-entering the finals for the 1st time since 2010 when it was entered as a Drama before the guidelines of the categories were more solidified, snuck in at 10th place. Crazier yet, Once Upon A Time had 2 couples in last year, neither of them made it this year... including last years runner ups in the finals, but a completely different couple did. Last years winner Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis from Lost Girl are back, despite their penalties and have brought along another couple from their show Kenzie & Hale Santiago. The couple known as Doccubus main competition looks to be coming from newcomer couple Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from Arrow, Olicity garnered nearly double the votes of the 2 time champ. Richard Castle & Kate Beckett of Castle (aka - Caskett), the other winner of this award in 2012 is still in the fight too, along with last years break out couple Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson from Glee (aka - Klaine) who finished 3rd in this years semi-final voting. In the category of "odd" has to be the case of Felicity Smoak. The character (played by the same actress) is going into the finals in 2 different couples....on 2 different shows. Definitely a 1st. The Animated category returns after being removed for 2 years due to a lack of contenders and interest. The former champion is again looking poised to win again as The Simpsons won the semi-finals. After finishing 2nd in the opening round to a show that failed to make the finals, it seems pretty clear the winner is probably going to the longest running prime time animated program ever. Family Guy, South Park & The Legend Of Korra all look like they will at least give the champion SOME fight, but this seems more of a battle for 2nd than any potential winner coming out of the group. After a setback last year that say the 2011 Champions lose to the couple from Castle Richard & Kate, the 1st ever same sex couple nominated for our awards reclaimed their title. Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo of "Lost Girl" or as their fanbase call them Doccubus (Doctor & Succbus), finished 2nd last year by a mere 58 votes, but didnt have the same heartbreak this year, as their 1350 votes took the title back. Runner up was "Once Upon A Time" couple Mr.Gold & Belle (Rumbelle) were well back with 1084 votes. In 3rd was the 1st ever all male couple to make the finals, Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) from "Glee" nabbed 867 votes to finish 3rd. Rounding out the top 5, 2012 Champion Richard Castle & Kate Beckett (Caskett) from "Castle" were well back in 4th, Prince Charming & Snow White (Snowing) "Once Upon A Time" finished 5th. Day 1 had Klaine with 5 leads, Rumbelle 4, Duccubus 3, ShAmy & Polivia also held the lead. Day 2 was Klaine. Day 3 saw Doccubus with 3 leads, Klaine & Caskett also had the lead, Da4 on Doccubus had the lead minus a 3-4 hr spot where Rumbelle had the lead on day 5. Doccubus 1350 votes sets a new category record, breaking Doccubus 2011 total of 1170. This is also the 1st category record to have a winner that won in a previous year but not consecutively. Winning last years & runner up, they look poised to try & do that again this year with 4 finalists. Philip Sgriccia "Sacrifice" (Supernatural) led with 137 votes, just 9 ahead of last years runner up, back for another crack at it with 2 finalists Guy Norman Bee "Devil May Care" at 128 votes & "Taxi Driver" (Supernatural) in 4th with 113. Sandwiched in between the pair of finalists from Bee is Jeannot Szwarc "LARP And The Real Girl" (Supernatural) at 123 votes. Rounding out the top 5 is a non-SPN challenger John Fawcett "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (Orphan Black) Other finalists are - David Barrett "Sacrifice" (Arrow), Joel Wyman "An Enemy Of Fate" (Fringe), Brad Falchuk "The Quarterback" (Glee) & Shawn Piller "Fallout" (Haven). Missing the finals - Ron Underwood "Things We Said Today" (Grey's Anatomy) was 24 votes back & Pamela Fryman "Something New" (How I Met Your Mother) was 25 votes back. The Best Couple category is again looking like it will be "Lost Girl" VS the rest. The 2011 winners & 2012 runner-ups are again coming out swinging in the early rounds. The 1st ever same sex couple to get nominated in the awards, Bo & Dr. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" grabbed 871 votes in round 2, more than the next 3 combined. Well back in 2nd was Rumplestiltskins Storybrooke alias Mr. Gold & Belle from "Once Upon A Time" at 334, the 2012 champs crime fighting duo Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" were 3rd with 260. In 4th was easily the most awkward couple on TV Dr. Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler of "The Big Bang Theory". Rounding out the top 5 are the real lie soon to be parents TV characters Prince Charming & Snow White from "Once Upon A Time".
