The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Stunts is.... Arrow
The inagural Best Stunts award goes to "Arrow" from The CW. For a show where jumping off roof tops, motorbike chases while shooting arrows & 3 or more person fight sequences is pretty much the norm, it really is no shocker that Arrow was the winner. Early on in voting (day 1) Agents Of SHIELD & Hawaii Five-0 both held short leads before Arrow took over the lead & never looked back. The Arrow stunt team consists of many people in front of & behind the scenes, but of note James Bamford the stunt co-ordinator, Simon Burnett, Curtis Braconnier and Atlin Mitchell as the primary stunt team are responsible for much of what you see on the screen every week. Runner up was Lost Girl. In 3rd was Supernatural. Well back in 4th was Agents Of SHIELD, 5th was Game Of Thrones. Despite a hot start, Hawaii Five-O finished well back in 6th, just ahead of The Flash which went from last to 7th in the last 48 hrs of voting. The Blacklist came in 8th, Person of Interest was 9th & Doctor Who rounded out the finalists in 10th. 1st ARROW (CW) 1,687 2nd LOST GIRL (Showcase) 985 3rd SUPERNATURAL (CW) 718 4th Agents Of SHIELD (ABC) 344 5th Game Of Thrones (HBO) 278 6th Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) 158 7th The Flash (CW) 136 8th The Blacklist (NBC) 130 9th Person of Interest (CBS) 107 10th Doctor Who (BBC One) 78

The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Couple is.... Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
I suppose the characters played by this years Sexiest Actor & Actress Winners seemed like a safe bet for the Best Couple category. Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from "Arrow" or as theya re more known by their fans "Olicity" win this years Best Couple. Beating out the 2X champions from "Lost Girl" Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis & the 2013 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" With 1,745 Olicity sets a new record for votes in this category i the finals, breaking the old mark of 1,350 by last years winners Lauren & Bo. The 482 vote margin of victory also is a new record, breaing last years mark of 266. Olicity had the lead in voting from the beginning of voting & never relinquished it. The couple known as Doccubus from "Lost Girl" Lauren & Bo came in 2nd with a total of 1,263. Which was well ahead of the 2012 Champions Richard & Kate (Caskett) from "Castle" in 3rd. Well back in 4th was Captain Hook & Emma Swan (Captain Swan) from "Once Upon A Time" with 308 votes. Last year 2 OUAT couples made the finals, this year neither of them were back, seemingly being replaced by CaptainSwan. In 5th is another Lost Girl duo, Kenzi & Hale Santiago. In 6th was last years 3rd place finalists Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) from "Glee". In 7th, up 2 spots from last year is "The Vampire Diaries" couple of Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena). In 8th was Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins from "Hawaii Five-O". In 9th is the odd cross-over couple of Barry Allen & Felicity Smoak (Barricity) "The Flash", making Felicity Smoak the 1st ever character in the finals for 2 different shows. In 10th is Thea Queen & Roy Harper from "Arrow". 1st OLIVER QUEEN & FELICITY SMOAK (Olicity) "Arrow" 1,745 2nd LAUREN LEWIS & BO DENNIS (Doccubus) "Lost Girl" 1,263 3rd RICHARD CASTLE & KATE BECKETT (Caskett) "Castle" 918 4th Emma Swan & Captain Hook (Captain Swan) "Once Upon A Time" 308 5th Kenzi & Hale Santiago "Lost Girl" 231 6th Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) "Glee" 204 7th Damon Salvatore & Elena Gilbert (Delena) "The Vampire Diaries) 195 8th Steve McGarrett & Catherine Rollins "Hawaii Five-0" 139 9th Barry Allen & Felicity Smoak (Barricity) "The Flash" 94 10th Thea Queen & Roy Harper "Arrow" 52 The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. But 1st we need candidates to compete in the finals. The results below are for the categories of Best Action or Drama Actor, Actress & Program Best Action or Drama Actor STEPHEN AMELL (Arrow) 633 CHRISTOPHER GORHAM (Covert Affairs) 403 JOHN BARROWMAN (Arrow) 399 MADS MIKKELSEN (Hannibal) 390 NATHAN FILLION (Castle) 361 ALEX O'LOUGHLIN 228 (Hawaii Five-O) 228 HUGH DANCY (Hannibal) 199 PAUL BLACKTHORNE(Arrow) 189 COLTON HAYNES (Arrow) 187 YANNICK BISSON (Murdoch Mysteries) 177 JAMES SPADER (The Blacklist) 150 BEN MCKENZIE (Gotham) 137 JON HUERTAS (Castle) 126, JOHNNY LEE MILLER (Elementary) 119, MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER (Criminal Minds) 116, JIM CAVIEZEL (Person Of Interest) 115, SHEMAR MOORE (Criminal Minds) 112, DAVID TENNANT (Gracepoint) 102, PATRICK DEMPSEY (Grey's Anatomy) 96, ALLAN HAWCO (Republic Of Doyle) 50 Best Action or Drama Actress EMILY BETT RICKARDS (Arrow) 648 STANA KATIC (Castle) 376 SUSANNA THOMPSON (Arrow) 254 CAITY LOTZ (Arrow) 178 WILLA HOLLAND (Arrow) 174 LUCY LIU (Elementary) 173 PAULEY PERRETTE (NCIS) 168 GRACE PARK (Hawaii Five-O) 165 MAGGIE SMITH (Downton Abbey) 154 HELENE JOY (Murdoch Mysteries) 144 AMY ACKER (Person Of Interest) 136 KATIE CASSIDY (Arrow) 133 MOLLY QUINN (Castle) 128, MARISKA HARTIGAY "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) 117, MEGAN BOONE (The Blacklist) 107, ELLEN POMPEO (Grey's Anatomy) 99, KERRY WASHINGTON (Scandal) 93, VERA FARMIGA (Bates Motel) 90, GEORGINA REILLY (Murdoch Mysteries) 67, ERICA DURANCE (Saving Hope) 54, KRYSTIN PELLERIN (Republic Of Doyle) 37, MONICA POTTER (Parenthood) 35 Best Action or Drama Program

This year, those same top 3 finalists from last year are back & in the serious mix for this years honour. Joining them are 1st time finalist Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs who finished 2nd to Stephen Amell from Arrow for the semi-final vote, and Mads Mikkelsen from hannibal, who finished 4th, a spot higher than he finished in the finals of last years vote. While the top 5 from last year all made the finals this year, the bottom half of last years top 10 was not so lucky, only 7th place James Spader from The Blacklist & 10th place Hugh Dancy from hannibal is returning. Ousted were Johnny Lee Miller of Elementary, Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds and Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest. New to the party besides Gorham are, Paul Blackthorne and Colton Haynes from Arrow, giving them FOUR finalists. Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, and Ben McKenzie from the rookie drama Gotham. The Best Action Or Drama Actress category has been the "Stana Katic Award" since its inception in 2011 as the actress from Castle has won all 3 times, making her the only actor or actress to win her award every year since its existence. But this year, it might not go her way if Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow has any say in it. The leading vote getting in the semi-finals had more than Katic & 3rd place fellow Arrow cast member Susanna Thompson combined. Three more Arrow cast made the finals with Caity Lotz in 4th, Willa Holland in 5th & Katie Cassidy in 12th, giving Arrow FIVE finalists. Surely vote splitting will be a major concern for the finalists there, giving Katic a bit of a chance still as she was the only finalist from Castle with Molly Quinn just missing out by 5 votes. Despite the seemingly lopsided rrow & Stana Katic race, there are other contenders. Lucy Liu from Elementary finished 3rd last year in the finals to Katic & Rickards, and comes in this year in 6th in the semi-finals. Amy Acker of Person Of Interest was also a finalist last year, finishing 5th and narrowly made it in this year in 11th. Grace Park finished 6th last year & finished 8th in this years semi-finals. Other newcomers besides the 4 newcomers from Arrow include Pauley Perrette from NCIS, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Helene Joy from Murdoch Mysteries. Two finalists from last year Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy & Kerry Washington from Scandal failed to make the finals this year, along with Celina Jade from Arrow & Taraji P. Henson from Person Of Interest who are no longer eligible. The Best Action or Drama Program category will again look like a fight between the defending champion Arrow & the former 2 time champion Castle. Perennial contender Criminal Minds finished 3rd last year and finished 8th in the semi-final voting to make it 5 consecutive years in the finals, the ONLY Drama to have done so. Last years New Program runner up Hannibal finished 3rd in the semi-final vote, cementing itself as a contender this year. In 4th is 1st time finalist Covert Affairs. Joining Covert Affairs on the 1st time finalist list is Sherlock, Murdoch Mysteries & The Blacklist. Only 5 of last years finalists made it to the finals this year. Missing the mark this time were retired Breaking Bad, along with Rookie Blue, Elementary, Grey's Anatomy & The Mentalist. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. It should also be noted that finalist Outlander led the opening round, and has won several other online polls in the last year of note. Despite their mediocre finish in the semi-finals heare, a win cant be ruled out for this internet phenomenon. Of course How To Get Away With Murder & Gotham will also do their best to rally more fans for the finals. Last years runner up Lost Girl took 3rd and is still a threat if their fans decide to try. Only shows that did not make the finals that did last season were Continuum, Hannibal, Hawaii Five-O, Sleepy Hollow & retired Fringe. Newcomers to the finals are Agents Of SHIELD, Murdoch Mysteries, Orange Is The New Black, Sherlock & The Flash. The Favorite Character category again sees the defending 4 time champion Dean Winchester "Supernatural" not going in as the favorite based on the Semi-Final vote. This year however, he has 1 less challenger to threaten his title as the 2012 & 2013 runner up was penalized heavily for her fans refusal to follow rules, and it cost her. Castiel from "Supernatural", last years semi-final runer up & finalist 3rd place competitor goes into the finals as the semi-final leader. 20 of the 25 finalists last year are in again. Only exclusions are the now retired Fringe duo of Walter Bishop & Olivia Dunham, How I Met Your Mother character Barney Stinson in his last run, Sherlock Holmes from Elementary, although should be noted Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock is in this year, and finally Dr. Lauren Lewis of Lost Girl who only failed to make it due to a fan boycott due to the penalties levied....although they had no problem putting their 2 other stars through. Newcomers are plenty, most notable Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow, Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock & William Murdoch & Julia Ogden of Murdoch Mysteries. All of whom passed 100 votes in the semi-finals. Arrow has 2 of the top 3, including John Behring for "Unthinkable" as the top vote getter, narrowly beating out 2012 winner Jensen Ackles for "Soul Survivor" on Supernatural. Douglas Aarniokoski on "Seeing Red" rounds out the bookends of the Arrow Supernatural Arrow trio. Amanda Tapping managed 2 finalist spots with her 2 part Continuum episodes. Besides 2012 winner Ackles, Pamela Fryman "How Your Mother Met Me" is the only other previous contender for Best Director, making the semi-finals last year. Last years winning show Glee, had no finalists this year as their 2 semi-finalist contenders did not advance. The Best Episode category, aka - "favorite Supernatural episode" in the years past could be a hard one to predict. Supernatural is well represented in the finals. SEVEN finalists for the 3X Winning show, Arrow and Lost Girl managed 5, while Castle has 4. While it would SEEM to be a safe bet with Arrow & Supernatural dominating the top 8 spots that they are a shoe in to win, theres then the fact that in the finals the amount of challengers you can vote for will be limited to 2 or 3. Vote splitting is always a problem when a show shoves too many of its challengers into a finals. Perhaps The Flash or Murdoch Mysteries with their 1 singular nominee will win because their fans will not be split on who to vote for. Also, an error occurred in listing for a couple days of this category. One of the Arrow finalists, The Secret Origins Of Felicity Smoak was mistakenly listed as Draw Back Your Bow for awhile, so if you voted for DBYB & wonder where it is.... is was changed to TSOOFS during the round after the error was noticed. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE The 2014 Best Of TV Awards Semi-Finals are now Closed. The Finals for the 5th annual BOTVA's will begin in early 2015. Only 4 of last years finalists made the finals this year. With only 1 of the finalists last year being retired, that means 5 couple from last year did not make this years finals who were there last year. Crazier yet, Once Upon A Time had 2 couples in last year, neither of them made it this year... including last years runner ups in the finals, but a completely different couple did. Last years winner Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis from Lost Girl are back, despite their penalties and have brought along another couple from their show Kenzie & Hale Santiago. The couple known as Doccubus main competition looks to be coming from newcomer couple Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from Arrow, Olicity garnered nearly double the votes of the 2 time champ. Richard Castle & Kate Beckett of Castle (aka - Caskett), the other winner of this award in 2012 is still in the fight too, along with last years break out couple Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson from Glee (aka - Klaine) who finished 3rd in this years semi-final voting. In the category of "odd" has to be the case of Felicity Smoak. The character (played by the same actress) is going into the finals in 2 different couples....on 2 different shows. Definitely a 1st. The Animated category returns after being removed for 2 years due to a lack of contenders and interest. The former champion is again looking poised to win again as The Simpsons won the semi-finals. After finishing 2nd in the opening round to a show that failed to make the finals, it seems pretty clear the winner is probably going to the longest running prime time animated program ever. Family Guy, South Park & The Legend Of Korra all look like they will at least give the champion SOME fight, but this seems more of a battle for 2nd than any potential winner coming out of the group. The Finals for these categories will take place in January 2015 HERE |
