The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Favorite TV Character is.... Felicity Smoak "Arrow" After 4 years of Dean Winchester from "Supernatural" as the pollsters Favorite Character, we have a new winner. Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards) "Arrow" won the honour this year with a new record 1,340 votes, surpassing the old record from 2011 of 1165 by Dean Winchester. Her margin of victor of 318 is also a new record, breaking the record of 186 from last year by Dean Winchester. Ms. Smoak has had an interesting year. She had her crush tell her he loves her, was used to help her crush/boss take down Deathstroke, and got a new boss at her day job. Felicity has certainly become a fan favorite in the short time of the show. This was the 2nd year felicity was in the finals, finishing 4th last year & showing she might be a force to be reckoned with someday. Runner up this year goes to Kenzi from "Lost Girl" with 1,022 votes. This is the 3rd year in a row that someone from the show was runner up, after 2 consecutive years of Lauren Lewis being there the fans opted this time to choose a character that died this past year on the show. Last year Kenzi was 14th. After 4 consecutive awards, Dean Winchester "Supernatural" finishes in an unfamiliar 3rd with 822 votes. In 4th is Bo Dennis "Lost Girl" 786, up from the 7th place she was last year. In 5th was Richard Castle "Castle" with 779, the characters highest ever finish was 13th last year. In 6th was Oliver Queen/Arrow "Arrow" up from lat years 11th place finish. In 7th was Kate Beckett "Castle" which is a sharp rise from the 19th she placed last year. Regina Mills/Evil Queen "Once Upon A Time" was 8th, dropping slightly from 6th last year, Hannibal Lecter "Hannibal" finished 9th one spot lower than his 8th place finish last year. Sam Winchester was 12th, dropping from his 5th place spot last year. While Castiel "Supernatural" last years 3rd place finalist, and the only person besides Dean Winchester to be on the top 5 list every yead, dropped all the way to 13th this year. Kurt Hummel slipped to 14th this year after being 10th last year. Emma Swan "Once Upon A Time" in 24th returns to the finals for the 1st time since 2012. Odd statistical anomaly, Amy Farrah Fowler "The Big Bang Theory" in 40th has made the finals 4 times, and has finished last in 3 of the 4 years. With this years finals extended from 25 to 40 finalists, theres quite a few newcomers to the finals. Newcomers to the list this year include... Malcolm Merlyn "Arrow" in 10th, Sara Lance/Canary "Arrow" in 11th, William Murdoch "Murdoch Mysteries" 15th, Sherlock Holmes "Sherlock" 16th, Julia Ogden "Murdoch Mysteries" 17th, The Doctor "Doctor Who" 20th, Daryl Dixon "The Walking Dead" 21st, Philip Coulson "Agents Of SHIELD" 22nd, Samantha Groves/Root "Person Of Interest" 23rd, Barry Allen/The Flash "The flash" 26th, Skye "Agents Of SHIELD" 27th, Raymond Reddington "The Blacklist" 29th, Spencer Reid "Criminal Minds" 30th, Clara Oswald "Doctor Who" 32nd, Carol Peletier "The Walking Dead" 34th, Nyssa al Ghul "Arrow" 35th, Oswald Cobblepot "Gotham" 36th, Rick Grimes "The Walking Dead" 38th and John Watson "Sherlock" 39th. 1st FELICITY SMOAK "ARROW" 1340 *New Record*

The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Guest Star is.... Osric Chau "Supernatural"
For the 3rd consecutive year a Supernatural Guest Star wins this award. Osric Chau, the 2013 Recurring Actor Award winner nabs the 2014 honour for Best Guest Star. Only a 31 vote margin of victory over another SPN familiar face, Kim Rhodes in 2nd, Rhodes held the lead several times as her and Chau leapfrogged each other a few times in the last 3 days before Chau took enough of a lead to not be caught. This is the smallest margin of victory in this category to date. In 3rd was "Agent Of SHIELD" guest Star Lucy Lawless. Another Supernatural guest star, Rob Benedict nabbed 4th ahead of Person of Interest guest star Winston Duke in 5th, Duke held the lead for much of the 1st two days of voting before slowing down considerably. Shockingly, considering the dominance she has had in all her other categories so far this year, Emily Bett Rickards finished a mediocre 6th in the guest star category for her spot on "The Flash" just ahead of Stephen Amell for the same episode. In 8th was "Once Upon A Time" guest star Rose McGowanjust ahead of 9th place Cliff Simon from "Castle" and rounding out the top 10 was a rare 3 way tie with Colin O'Donnell "Arrow", Hugh Dillon "Continuum" & Bob Newhart "The Big Bang Theory" all tying for the spot. Deon Richmond "Psych" nabbed 13th ahead of Natalie Dormer "Elementary" in 14th. Grant Gustin "Arrow" took 15th ahead of Robert Knepper 16th, Michael Rowe 17th & Charlotte Ross back in 18th also all from "Arrow. 1st OSRIC CHAU "Supernatural" 433 2nd KIM RHODES "Supernatural" 402 3rd LUCY LAWLESS "Agents Of SHIELD" 304 4th Rob Benedict "Supernatural" 259 5th Winston Duke "Person of Interest" 224 6th Emily Bett Rickards "The Flash" 194 7th Stephen Amell "The Flash" 103 8th Rose McGowan "Once Upon A Time" 87 9th Cliff Simon "Castle" 82 10th (tie) Colin Donnell "Arrow" 79 10th (tie) Hugh Dillon "Continuum" 79 10th (10th) Bob Newhart "The Big Bang Theory" 79 13th Deon Richmond "Psych" 65 14th Natalie Dormer "Elementary" 63 15th Grant Gustin "Arrow" 58 16th Robert Knepper "Arrow" 55 17th Michael Rowe "Arrow" 41 18th Charlotte Ross "Arrow" 29 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Recurring Actress is.... Alaina Huffman "Supernatural"
Alaina Huffman with 624 votes joins the ranks of Julia Maxwell, Rachel Miner & Felicia Day as "Supernatural" alum to win the Best Recurring Actress Award. Just like their male cohorts, SPN has won every single award on the womens side for the recurring categories. Huffman, a repeat finalist in this category, finished 3rd last year. Without Felicia Day or Anna Torv from "Fringe" to compete against this year, she won quite handily ahead of another Supernatural alum Erica Carroll in 2nd with 429 votes. In 3rd, last years 4th place finalist Gillian Anderson "Hannibal" with 361 votes, Anderson held the lead breifly opening day, then was passed by Huffman & never again did the lead change. In 4th was Katrina Law "Arrow" just ahead of "Lost Girl" star Anna Silk in a very shocking 5th. In 6th was last years 5th place finalist, and this years Best Youth Actress winner, Bex Taylor-Klaus from "Arrow". In 7th, another "Lost Girl" actress Ksenia Solo. Finishing 8th was "Murdoch Mysteries" star Arwen Humphries. In 9th was Celina Jade for "Arrow" just ahead of Alex Kingston, also from "Arrow". 1st ALAINA HUFFMAN "Supernatural" 624 2nd ERICA CARROLL "Supernatural" 429 3rd GILLIAN ANDERSON "Hannibal" 361 4th Katrina Law "Arrow" 187 5th Anna Silk "Lost Girl" 171 6th Bex Taylor-Klaus "Arrow" 164 7th Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" 121 8th Arwen Humphries "Murdoch Mysteries" 90 9th Celina Jade "Arrow" 77 10th Alex Kingston "Arrow" 70 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Recurring Actor is.... Tahmoh Penikett "Supernatural"
You have to hand it to Supernatural fans. While other shows like Castle & Arrow have dominated voting in their respective categories some years for the Best Program, actor & actress in their categories, their lack of support of recurring & guest stars on their shows is quite evident by the combined ZERO top 3 finishes in any of those categories. "Supernatural" on the other hand celebrates its 4th Recurring Actor Award with Tahmoh Penikett winning this year with 698 votes. In 2nd was Kris Holden-Ried "Lost Girl" as the show was forced to compete for the awards offered to those with 3 to 7 appearance in the year due to the odd schedule the show had. The same for 3rd place finalist "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch who had the lead for about a day at the beginning before Penikett passed him. In 4th was Travis Aaron Wade "Supernatural" well ahead of 5th place finisher "Arrow" actor Brandon Routh. A tie for 6th between "Person of Interest" star Enrico Colantoni & "Supernatural" star Curtis Armstrong. 8th was "Once Upon A Time" star Michael raymond James. In 9th was the other "Sherlock" star Martin Freeman. 10th place tie between David Nykl & J.R. With 3 finals nominations in 2 years for this award, Bex Taylor-Klaus wins in her final year of eligibility for the award for her role as the smart mouthed street kid "Sin" on "Arrow" with 524 votes. Bex finished 8th last year for her role on "The Killing" and also finished 5th for this role on "Arrow". Bex managed to beat out last years winner Maisie Williams "Game Of Thrones" who came well back in 2nd with 280 votes. The 244 vote margin is a new category record. Coming in 3rd was Sasha Pieterse "Pretty Little Liars" in her 1st finals appearance. In 4th is newcomer Camren Bicondova from the rookie hit "Gotham", ahead of 5th place Brighton Sharbino in her last year on "The Walking Dead’ was up from her 7th place finish last year. Last years 3rd place finalist Sophie Turner "Game Of Thrones" finished back in 6th this year. Taissa Farmiga "American Horror Story" also drops from 4th to 7th this year. In 8th is Zoe de Grand’Maison "Orphan Black", 9th was Danielel Campbell "The Originals", 10th was Skyler Wexler "Orphan Black" & Telior Grubbs "Hawaii Five-0" rounds out the finalists in 11th. 1st BEX TAYLOR-KLAUS "Arrow" 524 2nd MAISIE WILLIAMS "Game Of Thrones" 280 3rd SASHA PIETERSE "Pretty Little Liars" 246 4th Camren Bicondova "Gotham" 155 5th Brighton Sharbino "The Walking Dead" 129 6th Sophie Turner "Game Of Thrones" 117 7th Taissa Farmiga "American Horror Story" 103 8th Zoe de Grand’Maison "Orphan Black" 85 8th Danielle Campbell "The Originals" 81 9th Skyler Wexler "Orphan Black" 78 10th Teilor Grubbs "Hawaii Five-0" 61 Best Of TV Awards 2014 - Best Episode Winner - THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow"1/23/2015 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Episode is.... The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow"
This years winner for Best Episode is NOT from Supernatural.... seriously. With a new category record 952 votes The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak "Arrow" won, beating out the season 2 finale of the same show, Unthinkable by a category record 193 votes. The popularity of the Felicity Smoak character might not be any more apparent than by this win. Simply having her name in the title seemed to be enough for her fans to vote for it despite it clearly not being the best of its own show from the last year. The episode featured the secondary characters backstory about her early day sof her computer hacking and cleverly tied in a current day story related to her past to make it fit. The runner up was another Arrow episode Unthinkable. The season 2 finale. Perhaps if it was titled "Felicity Smoak's Unthinkable" it would have won instead as it had the lead for a couple days in the middle of the voting. In 3rd was Veritas from "Castle" which led in voting early on till Arrow fans rallied behind their episodes. Rounding out the top 10 were Like Hell Part 1 "Lost Girl" which was from the "late addition" vote in. Dark Horse "Lost Girl" was 5th. Fan Fiction from "Supernatural" was the highest any SPN episode faired at 6th, Waves "Lost Girl" was 7th, Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" was 8th, the Arrow/Flash cross over episode for "Arrow" The Brave & The Bold, came in 9th. Rounding out the top 10 was Streets Of Fire from "Arrow". In my analysis of the semi-final voting I really felt Supernatural, Arrow, Lost Girl & Castle would struggle to win because of vote splitting, yet those shows dominated the entire top 10 list. Only THREE of the top 20 The Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" in 11th, Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" & What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" were the only entries from their shows. 1st THE SECRET ORIGIN OF FELICITY SMOAK "Arrow" 952 2nd UNTHINKABLE "Arrow" 759 3rd VERITAS "Castle" 655 4th Like Hell part 1 "Lost Girl" 531 5th Dark Horse "Lost Girl" 499 6th Fan Fiction "Supernatural" 483 7th Waves "Lost Girl" 479 8th Once Upon A Time In The West "Castle" 462 9th The Brave & The Bold "Arrow" 354 10th Streets Of Fire "Arrow" 328 11th Flash VS Arrow "The Flash" 323 12th End Of A Line "Lost Girl" 233 13th Origin "Lost Girl" 228 14th Theres No Place Like Home "Once Upon A Time" 222 15th That 70s Show "Castle" 199 16th Soul Survivor "Supernatural" 181 17th No Sanctuary "The Walking Dead" 170 18th Do You Believe In Miracles "Supernatural" 168 19th First Born "Supernatural" 153 20th What Lies Buried "Murdoch Mysteries" 145 21st The Sign Of Three "Sherlock" 130 22nd Listen "Doctor Who" 124 23rd Kill Switch "Castle" 107 24th The Empty Hearse "Sherlock" 106 25th Girls, Girls, Girls "Supernatural" 104 26th The Lion And The Rose "Game Of Thrones" 103 27th Seeing Red "Arrow" 84 28th Deep Breath "Doctor Who" 80 29th Paper Moon "Supernatural" 49 30th Mothers Little Helper "Supernatural" 47 The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Writing is.... Congratulations on the inagural winner of the Best Writing award, Arrow. With 1,206 votes the show handily beat its competitors. Runner up was Lost Girl with 724 votes, in 3rd was Castle with 686. Both of which early on had the leads in voting before Arrow took over & never looked back. The writing team for Arrow has many people on it, but the main writers are Marc Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg. In 4th was Supernatural, just ahead of Hannibal in 5th, another NBC show The Blacklist finished 10th. British shows made an impact on the list with Sherlock in 6th & Doctor Who in 11th.
