The 2015 Best Of TV Awards are about to start the Finals soon. The 6th annual BOTVA's are still closing out some polls for the run off round before we advance to the finals. We've already shattered the previous record for votes in the first round combined. With over 487,000 votes. The 2015 BOTVA's all time record of 575,000 votes in a year. The Semi-Final rounds for Best Comedy Program, Actor & Actress categories took place a couple weeks ago. Both last years runner up How I Met Your Mother, and 3rd place Psych, are no longer eligible, leaving a large gap between last eyars contenders and the champ.TBBT, looking for its 6th straight win, led semi-final voting by a near 5 to 3 margin over the 2nd place show Orange Is The New Black, making the finals for the first time. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern family, Glee & 2 Broke Girls all find themselves back in the finals. New Girl returns to the finals, after being there in 2013. Jane The Virgin, Shameless, The Goldbergs and Veep all make their debuts in the finals. The Best Comedy Actor Category will see the winners of the last 3 awards battle it out again. Two time winner & defending champion Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory" had a slight lead over 2013 winner Chris Colfer "Glee" in the semi-finals. With 5 of last years 10 finalists not making the finals this year, either thru being voted out, or no longer eligible, there is a new crop of contenders to make a run at the two champs. Timothy Omundson "Galavant" is back in the finals, after making it there 3 times in a row for his work on "Psych". Simon Helberg returns a 3rd time to join his "The Big Bang Theory" star Jim parsons in the finals along with 1st time finalist Kevin Sussman. Chris Pratt "Parks And Recreation" finds himself back in the finals for the first time since 2011. Andy Samberg and Terry Crews "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" both make the finals, this is Sambergs 2nd time after making it last year. Tituss Burgess "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt", William H. Macy "Shameless", Don Cheadle "House Of Lies", Charlie Day "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" and "Modern family" duo Ed O'Neil and Ty Burrell all find themselves in the finals for the first time. The Best Comedy Actress Category seems to be headed for another battle between the two 2X Winners in this c ategory from The Big Bang Theory. Kaley Cuoco (2011, 2013) and Mayim Bialik (2012, 2014) have dominated this category since its inception, winning all 4 titles between them. This year, things are so close that the semi-finals saw the pair TIE for first. Last years final was decided by TWO (2) votes. So the tie isnt really too big of a shocker. Their co-star Melissa Rauch will again join them in the finals for the 3rd consecutive year. The Big Bang Theory trio will see their competition this year come from the likes of 3X finalist Kat Dennings "2 Broke Girls" with a 3rd place finish in the semi-finals, she looks to improve on her career best 5th place last year.. Orange Is The New Black duo of Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba are back in the finals after making them for the 1st time last year. Glee again has Jane Lynch (in her 5th try) and Lea Michele ( her 4th try). Zooey Deschanel "New Girl" returns for a 3rd time to the final after missing last years finals. Sofia Vergara "Modern Family" and Amy Poehler "Parks And Recreation" both return to the finals for their 2nd time. Newcomers to the finals include "Jane The Virgin" Golden Globe winning actress Gina Rodriguez, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" star Ellie Kemper, "Fresh off the Boat" star Constance Wu, Chelsea Peretti from "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", Wendi McLendon-Covey "The Goldbergs" and Anna Faris "Mom". The Final round of the 2015 Best Of TV Awards will be under way with some categories soon. Each voting round will last 3 to 6 days.. The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Comedy Program is.... The Big Bang Theory (CBS) Fivepeat for The Big Bang Theory for Best Comedy Program. Now officially, the only 5 time winner in any category. The show about a group of nerdy, socially awkward scientists and their girlfriends has been a hit everywhere for several years. TBBT crushed both the most votes record of 892 & margin of victory 439 that it set last year with an incredible 1,720 votes & a margin of victory of 1,190 over 3 time 2nd place finalist How I Met Your Mother with just 530 votes. In 3rd, alos in its last year is Psych with 526 giving it the shows 1st top 3 finish after 2 4ths & a 5th in years prior. In 4th was Modern Family up 1 spot from the 5th place its had the last two years. In 5th was 2010 runner up & last years 3rd place finalist Glee. In 6th was 2 Broke Girls, the same place it ended last year. In 7th Brooklyn Nine-Nine in its 1st year of eligibility. I shudder to think what the margin of victory might be next year with the 2nd & 3rd place finalists this year now retired. The Winner of the 2014 Best Of TV Award for Best Couple is.... Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak "Arrow" I suppose the characters played by this years Sexiest Actor & Actress Winners seemed like a safe bet for the Best Couple category. Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from "Arrow" or as theya re more known by their fans "Olicity" win this years Best Couple. Beating out the 2X champions from "Lost Girl" Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis & the 2013 Winners Richard Castle & Kate Beckett from "Castle" With 1,745 Olicity sets a new record for votes in this category i the finals, breaking the old mark of 1,350 by last years winners Lauren & Bo. The 482 vote margin of victory also is a new record, breaing last years mark of 266. Olicity had the lead in voting from the beginning of voting & never relinquished it. The couple known as Doccubus from "Lost Girl" Lauren & Bo came in 2nd with a total of 1,263. Which was well ahead of the 2012 Champions Richard & Kate (Caskett) from "Castle" in 3rd. Well back in 4th was Captain Hook & Emma Swan (Captain Swan) from "Once Upon A Time" with 308 votes. Last year 2 OUAT couples made the finals, this year neither of them were back, seemingly being replaced by CaptainSwan. In 5th is another Lost Girl duo, Kenzi & Hale Santiago. In 6th was last years 3rd place finalists Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson (Klaine) from "Glee". Neil Patrick harris of How I Met Your Mother winning the inagural title, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory winning in 2012, Chris Colfer of Glee winning last years. This year, they go into the finals as the top 3 vote getters in the semi-finals with last years winner Colfer finishing with a massive lead. The likelyhood that this years winner will not be a former winner is pretty unlikely as 4th & 5th are both from shows that the top 3 are from, and finished well back. Perrenial 1st round powerhouse Timothy Omundson, in his characters swan song will take 1 last crack to win, but odds are steep as his co-star James Roday from Psych also made the finals, which will split the limited vote pootl of this show probably. Every finalist from last year is back this year except the late Cory Monteith from Glee. Andy Samberg of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the only newcomer to the category finals. The Comedy Actress award looks poised to he another Big Bang Theory showdown with the only winners in the shows history. 2 Time winner Kaley Cuoco looks to defend her 2013 award against her co-star 2012 winner Mayim Bialik. Last years 3rd place finalist Alyson Hannigan from How I Met Your Mother, in her final run at the honour, again looks poised for a 3rd place finish if the semi-finals are an indication. 7 of the 10 finalists last year are back, only Zooey Deschanel, Alison Brie & Cobie Smulders are not back. Last years runner up Lost Girl took 3rd and is still a threat if their fans decide to try. Only shows that did not make the finals that did last season were Continuum, Hannibal, Hawaii Five-O, Sleepy Hollow & retired Fringe. Newcomers to the finals are Agents Of SHIELD, Murdoch Mysteries, Orange Is The New Black, Sherlock & The Flash. The Favorite Character category again sees the defending 4 time champion Dean Winchester "Supernatural" not going in as the favorite based on the Semi-Final vote. This year however, he has 1 less challenger to threaten his title as the 2012 & 2013 runner up was penalized heavily for her fans refusal to follow rules, and it cost her. Castiel from "Supernatural", last years semi-final runer up & finalist 3rd place competitor goes into the finals as the semi-final leader. 20 of the 25 finalists last year are in again. Only exclusions are the now retired Fringe duo of Walter Bishop & Olivia Dunham, How I Met Your Mother character Barney Stinson in his last run, Sherlock Holmes from Elementary, although should be noted Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock is in this year, and finally Dr. Lauren Lewis of Lost Girl who only failed to make it due to a fan boycott due to the penalties levied....although they had no problem putting their 2 other stars through. Newcomers are plenty, most notable Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow, Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock & William Murdoch & Julia Ogden of Murdoch Mysteries. All of whom passed 100 votes in the semi-finals. Only 4 of last years finalists made the finals this year. With only 1 of the finalists last year being retired, that means 5 couple from last year did not make this years finals who were there last year. Crazier yet, Once Upon A Time had 2 couples in last year, neither of them made it this year... including last years runner ups in the finals, but a completely different couple did. Last years winner Dr. Lauren Lewis & Bo Dennis from Lost Girl are back, despite their penalties and have brought along another couple from their show Kenzie & Hale Santiago. The couple known as Doccubus main competition looks to be coming from newcomer couple Oliver Queen & Felicity Smoak from Arrow, Olicity garnered nearly double the votes of the 2 time champ. Richard Castle & Kate Beckett of Castle (aka - Caskett), the other winner of this award in 2012 is still in the fight too, along with last years break out couple Kurt Hummel & Blaine Anderson from Glee (aka - Klaine) who finished 3rd in this years semi-final voting. In the category of "odd" has to be the case of Felicity Smoak. The character (played by the same actress) is going into the finals in 2 different couples....on 2 different shows. Definitely a 1st. The Animated category returns after being removed for 2 years due to a lack of contenders and interest. The former champion is again looking poised to win again as The Simpsons won the semi-finals. After finishing 2nd in the opening round to a show that failed to make the finals, it seems pretty clear the winner is probably going to the longest running prime time animated program ever. Family Guy, South Park & The Legend Of Korra all look like they will at least give the champion SOME fight, but this seems more of a battle for 2nd than any potential winner coming out of the group. Deans dominance of the category hit a new high this year, as he garnered his largest margain of victory with a 755 votes to runner up, for a 2nd time, is 3X finalist Dr. Lauren Lewis "Lost Girl" 569 votes, giving him a 186 vote victory. In 3rd was 4X finalist Castiel "Supernatural" with 454 votes. In 4th was Felicity Smoak "Arrow", 5th was 4X finalists Sam Winchester "Supernatural", 6th was Regina/Evil Queen "Once Upon A Time". 7th was last years 3rd place finalist & 3X finalist Bo "Lost Girl". In 8th Dr. Hannibal Lecter "Hannibal". 9th was Crowley "Supernatural". 10th Kurt Humme; "Glee".
