The director is Eric Dean Seaton, he directed the The Exorcism Of Nash Wells episode last season. This is also the 150th episode for the series. On this day, they had 3 locations. The first, was a small quiet, rarely used side street not far from the location they use for S.T.A.R. Labs exteriors, and just a block down the road from where Abra Kadabra was killed by Fuerza earlier this season. This early morning shoot had Grant Gustin as The Flash, along with returning star Jessica Parker Kennedy as XS, along with recently announced new addition to the cast, Jordan Fisher, as Bart Allen, aka Impulse. For this scene, they started with stunts, as the stunt double for Impulse did a scene where he, and 1 of the several Godspeeds that were on the set, are thrown across the pavement. Both of them ge tup quickly, and face off, but soon, Impulse finds himself surrounded by a gang of 6 Godspeeds. They raise their arms up, Impulse cowers..... and then the Godspeeds just leave.... a moment later, XS & The Flash come in, and the family have a chat. There were a couple other scenes done on the day at other locations I will get to in a later blog post sometime this weekend, or early next week. There will be some video from these scenes to post in the next couple weeks, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. The director is Geoff Shotz, he directed the Alls Wells That Ends Wells episode earlier this season. The cast & crew of The Flash were busy in downtown Vancouver Friday, with 3 different location shoots (although 2 of them were across the street from each other) In the daytime scene, at the CBC building, they were filming a short little scene that had 2 characters on set. But who were these two characters?? Well, one was the returninf fan favorite villain Godspeed. He was joined by..... Godspeed. Yes, there was multiple Godspeeds, and no, it wasnt a cast of 1 being a stand in, or stunt double for the other. They were both in frame for the filming when they were rolling. I dont know how long they hare been filming before I got there. But they shot this scene for about 15-20 minutes while I was there. It essentially had the pair of Godpseeds standing there, looking around for a moment, and that was it. But it gave me a chance to photograph them in the daytime, so I'm okay with whatever the scene was for. In the background of the scene, they has some U.S. flags flying, a sign for the entrance to the Central City Museum, and them a bit further back, was an ad for Big Belly Burger, featuring their uhhh "new double cheeseburger"??? Seriously? I'm supposed to believe a major burger franchise in the U.S. somehow DID NOT have a double cheeseburger on their menu from day one? Anyways, the crew then crossed the street to the exterior of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, which they have renamed to the Central City Theater. Beside it, they changed a restaurant theres name to "Taco Whiz". Which left me confused. Is it like a Cheese Whiz, but taco flavoured? Or did they name their taco establishment after how fast they will go through your body? In any case, doesnt sound appetizing. Outside of there, the crew filmed a few small scenes, all with Grant Gustin or his stunt double Cody Laudan as The Flash. First scene had Cody getting thrown across the lot by a couple of the Godspeeds. It was a short scene, so I saw 1 take of it. So I am unsure if more stunts were done after, as I left for a bit to go fgrab food, and when we came back, they were setting up for the next shot. Grant finally got on set, and did a scene were he comes zipping in, and observing something weird (I'll get to that in a minute), or being surrounded by the Godspeeds, which now totaled 6 for this scene. Yes, you read that right, there was now SIX Godspeed clones (I know on twitter it was said there was 7, but there was 6.... but at the time of the users tweet, it was fair to be mistaken, as they were all moving around before filming). In the scene, all surrounding Barry as he was on the ground. A bit later, the most WTF moment of the night happened. Barry comes zipping into the scene, looks around, and sees the group of Godpseeds..... having a Royal Rumble. The 6 pack og Godspeeds were all fighting each other, in pairs, and Barrys body language seemed to have a n "ummm ok, what?" look to it. After they finished those scenes, they did a bit more of the fighting scene of the Godspeeds, as Grant left for a long break. I also chose to leave at that time, and headed to their 3rd location, unaware at the time I'd be waiting FOREVER for that one to start. During the break at one point, Grant went over and chatted with a couple of the Godspeeds, which made for a fairly entertaining set of photos, as it looks like hes trying to use the power of love to talk Godspeed out of doing bad things, but it was actually just in between takes. Down the street about 3 blocks away, they were also set up for The Flash to film at. This one was at B.C. Place Stadium. For those that are observant, you know that is the location they use for the exterior of S.T.A.R. Labs, but, they have also used it for other things. But on this day, it was in fact, S.T.A.R. Labs, as the signage outside B.C. Place showed. Now I spent quite a while there waiting for them to film, and they didnt get to filming till close to 2 AM. When they finally did, there was nearly nothing to be seen. So little, that the few photos I did get it I didnt think were worth even posting. All I can confirm from the scenes there, The Flash was there, some of the Godspeeds were there, and at some point The Flash is on the ground. So thats it for this busy night of filming there. Godspeed is back!!! Are you excited? The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Thursday & Friday for episode 11 in a commonly used area, the 1000 block of West Hastings, which includes the commonly used Oceanic Plaza (Flash fans will remember this as where King Shark tried killing Barry in their first meeting... aka Porter Plaza.). I broke the reports on these days down into two blogs, The first one, a daytime scene is HERE. The night shoots are in this post. On the first day, after the daytime scene they shot in that earlier blog post, they moved 1/2 block down the street to in front of Oceanic Plaza. There they did some stunts. On set was the stunt team for The Flash, and the two people mentioned in the previous blog, which at this time I dont know which characters they are. But ONE was Michelle Harrison, who in the past has played Nora Allen, Joan Garrick, and the Speed Force..... so your guess is as good as mine on who she is now. The other is now ID'ed as Christian Magby (source: HERE ) that is dressed in the school sports jacket you see below. I have seen a couple social media posts based off yesterdays photos suggesting this could be a character named "Steadfast" that is part of the Still Force based off the logo on his jacket. But at this time I DO NOT know if that is true. The trio did a stunt where Barrys stunt double Cody Laudan, & the unknown actors stunt double were facing Michelles stunt double. Christians double does something with his hands that looks like he is trying to direct something at Michelles doubles character. A moment later, all 3 of them are sent flying backwards from where they were standing. A little while later, the stunt team wrapped their work, and the actors came in. Grant Gustin joined Michelle & Christian on set. They continued shooting the scene with the dialogue part of the scene. After that, Grant, Michelle, and Christian moved up to the top plaza of Oceanic Plaza to do a scene with 2 others. One of the two is Ennis Esmer who is playing "Psych" that I told you about in these previous blog posts HERE and HERE. This time however, he was maskless. The other, was a younger girl that I now believe to be Sara Alicia Garcia. The 4 of them walked together in a line through the court yard, eventually stopping. Then The Flash walks over to them, and there is a brief interaction between Flash & Michelles character (who after this scene I am starting to think is Nora somehow), before he falls to the ground momentarily. Michelle then reaches down, and picks him up. They look at each other, and then hug. A moment later, Michelles character invites the other 3 over, and The Flash seems to be friendly with them. On the second day they were back down on the street level where the stunt from the night earlier was done. This time, the entire group from the last scene the night before was there. Christian, Sara, and Ennis, were lined up with The Flash, facing Michelles character for most of the scenes. At one point they do a scene where The Flash turns around, facing the same direction Michelles character is facing, and yells at something up high & says "I did what you asked". There also was a scene done where the whole group looked in 1 direction, up high. I also added 2 other photos at the end. They were actually set piece photos. One of a Central City Cab, but the more interesting one, which features the Porter Plaza placard that you may remember from that King Shark episode I referenced earlier, also show a banner right next to it that says "Quickstart Enterprises" which is a TV channel that Johnny Quick (Chambers) and Jesse Quick (Chambers) run in the comics. UPDATE: March 26, 2021 (6:30 PM) - Name of the previously unknown actors is now updated. Christian Magby, and Sara Garcia. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Thursday & Friday in a commonly used area, the 1000 block of West Hastings, which includes the commonly used Oceanic Plaza (Flash fans will remember this as where King Shark tried killing Barry in their first meeting). I will be breaking the reports on these days down into two blogs, because 1 scene seems to be separate from the others, so here is the 1st part of my report. Thursday afternoon filming. At the first location of their 2 day shoot The Flash filmed in an area known as Portal Park, which is just at the corner down from Oceanic Plaza. It was pouring rain the whole time they were there, and I was doing the best I could to keep myself, and my camera dry, while still taking photos. The scene included 2 actors on set. One, a newcomer to the show Christian Magby, (source: HERE )wearing a school sports jacket. On the arm, it said "Owens" (I did a search for a character with that name, and only 2 hits came up. Neither do I think would be this one. A villain sniper simply named Owens, and at some point former Olympic legend Jesse Owens was featured in a comic. I dont THINK its him, just because he is wearing a modern day jacket in it, and Jesse for school sports age would have been during the 1920s/30 ). The other person on set was a returning recurring character. Michelle Harrison was there. Was she Barrys mom Nora Allen? Or is she someone/something else? We know in the past she has been seen by Barry as the speed force. The scene was quite confusing. It had "Nora" speaking to this Owens kid. In it, Nora seems quite mad, as does Owens. The conversation is clearly a tense one, and in the end Owens leaves, but in an interesting twist, he turns around to Nora when he was walking away to do this arm up pose that usually associates someone is about to run away at super speed. So is Owens a speedster? Immediately after, Nora yells out with no sign of Owens in sight any more something that sounded like "you cant run forever Deon/Leon", but I can not be 100% sure of those exact words, as there was a lot of excess noise with traffic, and the rain. I also added 1 photo of a S.T.A.R. Labs van that was driving by. It was NOT part of the scene. They actually use it for moving equipment on set. But sometimes it also is in scenes. But not today. After that scene was done, they moved 1/2 block down to do some night shoots for the next two days. I will have more on those in my next report in the next day or 2. This time however, they were filming on the outside of the building, as opposed to the last time when I could only see snippets of what was going on through the frosted glass on the windows. This episode is being directed by Philip Chipera, in his 4th gig with the show (he was the director of last years unexpected season finale episode, and 2 in 2018). On this day, they were shooting scenes in front of the Westin Bayshore Hotel, which was made this time to look like a place called the "La Salle Building". Why were they there? Who knows. But they shot a couple different sets of scenes there. The first scene was a stunt scene (I didnt stay around for it as I was working 2 sets just a few blocks apart from each other at the same time) with Cody Laudan in The Flash attire. When I returned a couple hours later, Grant Gustin was then on set as The Flash. The scene had The Flash seemingly unable to move forward, before moving backwards. Then a person who I had seen on set 2 months earlier, started walking towards where The Flash just was, before stopping and wiping his hands against each other in that "mission accomplished" way people do that. That character is Psych, played by Ennis Esmer. With a daytime scene, I was able to get much more clear, and detailed photos of the Psych outfit. You can now see more of the details in his mask, and that he seems to wear purple gloves as well. That was then the end of their scene, and the next set was getting set up. In the later scene, Candice Patton was there as Iris West Allen, along with Victoria Park as Kamilla Hwang, and Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia, to shoot a scene of the trio seemingly working as "Team Citizen" for the blog Iris started up, the Central City Citizen. In the scene, the trio walk towards a limo that is pulling up at the front doors of the building. A well dressed woman is there, and Team Citizen stop to talk to the woman, and Kamilla seems to show her something that seems to maybe be on a phone. The woman walks away from them, and is then confronted by Psych. The woman & Psych have a conversation that at times seems friendly, but then in the end Psych does something to cause the mystery woman to crumble to the ground, much like The Flash did a couple months earlier when I saw them at a different set. Then they did a cut where Iris is suddenly 20-30 feet closer to where the woman & Psych were, from where she was. They had a bit more time to shoot that day, but I didnt see any sign that anything substantially different might be getting filmed, so I called it a day. They were filming scenes for episode 707, with Alexandra La Roche directing. (director of Goldfaced episode, as well as 5 other episodes of The Flash, plus 7 other Arrowverse episodes over the years on Legends Of Tomorrow and Arrow). The first location was in a lot attached to B.C. Place, which many know as the place for exterior shots of S.T.A.R. Labs. This is a location they have used at least once before as shown in this previous set HERE .... but not since season 1. Again, like back then, they used it as a parking lot at the CCPD. This time, the location had several Police cars, and 1 Meta Human Task Force vehicle there. The scene had Jesse L Martin as Joe West, shooting a scene with Carmen Moore. In the scene, we see Joe speed walking after this woman, who is named Kristin Kramer, through the lot. According to the synopsis for episode 7x05, Kristin is "a member of the "Governor's Municipal Logistics Commission" (whatever thats supposed to be) As she gets to her car, he confronts her, and the pair have a serious, but not seemingly hostile, talk. It seemed like Joe was trying to reason with her for some reason. But what could that be? They did shoot another scene after that at the side of that Meta Human truck, but there was no reasonable angle to see what was going on. What I can say is, immediately before they started shooting that scene, Danielle Panabaker showed up in Killer Frost attire. I can not say if she was in this scene, but her timing compared to when they started filming would suggest she could have been. As well, based off the second set below, I think its probable she was in the scene..... just what was the premise of the scene is completely unknown though. The second location was in a parking lot across the street from B.C. Place, in a place that really is only used for parking now, but used to be a popular sports bar back in the day. I actually passed that location first on my way to the earlier location, so I stopped and took a couple close up shot of the doors & posters while the chance was there. A few hours later, the crew moved to this location. Many of the Police vehichles from the first location were moved over to this location. Including that Meta Human task force vehicle. In this night scene, they had made the empty building look like a pub, even decorated with fake signage out on the street promoting the now recurring made up band Sickada (seen on this season 7 set on a poster) at O'Shaughnessy's Pub. Outside the pub, the CCPD had set up to take down someone.... but who??. Well, much to my shock, KILLER FROST! The woman from the earlier scene, Kristen Kramer, was now at this location yelling orders at Frost to come out with her hands up. She tells her she has 2 minutes to come out, then 1 minute, then says time is up, and tells the squad of Meta Human Task Force members to move in, before seeing Frost move towards the front door with her hands up. She then tells the task force members to stand down, as Frost comes out, and agrees to being handcuffed. So you can start your speculations on WHY is a group that you would think Captain West would have some control over, is pursuing Frost now. How did she go from helping Team Flash in episode 3 of this season (HERE) to being hunted by the CCPD? Is this what the earlier interaction at the other set was over? On my walk back over there before the scene started, I got there moments before Danielle got to the set. She was wearing a face shield, instead of a mask. I have seen both versions being used by different crews, but she was the 1st cast member I had seen on The Flash using this method. I got to speak to her momentarily & congratulate her on her new child. She was, as always, pleasant & thanked me. It was quite cold this night, and there was only about an hour left in filming at that location when I decided that I needed to call it a night. Perhaps more was filmed after, but considering how little time was left on their time there, it seems unlikely much else came of the scene. I will have some video of these scenes later on this month. You can this when its up, as well as my other past videos on my Youtube channel. The Flash season 7 will air Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S. starting February 23, 2021. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Wednesday in 3 different spots around downtown Vancouver. In the morning, and early afternoon, they were shooting in the conference centre part of the Bayshore Hotel, near Stanley Park. Because of the position of some of the cranes, and the part they were actually in, there was almost nothing to see from this location. Only details I can pass along is, the scene had a bunch of blinking strobe lights going on, and Grant Gustin was on set as The Flash. I also briefly saw Carlos Valdes as he left at the end of the shoot, but never saw him in the scene. I know 1 of the two Danielles was on set, as I heard them reference her wrapping, but I dont know if it was Danielle Panabaker, or Danielle Nicolet. At one point as many as 6 different cast style transportation vehicles were waiting around, so there could have been more. The set up there, left it a bit of a challenge to figure out much of anything. I saw Grant on a break, and as he was leaving. Besides that, I saw him inside for brief moments through a small break between the equipment, trees, and frosted glass. I also saw an unknown guy being led by a crew member back to set all covered up. So I added 1 photo of him in there too, in case he turns out to be something, but he could just be a background character... but they rarely escort background to & from sets. The one detail from the shoot that DID catch my attention is.... what is The Flash wearing on the front of his head in the 1st photo? Is this the same device he had on when he was trying to prevent Grodd from controlling him. They would wrap this location around 3 PMish, and move across the downtown core to two other locations they would shoot night scenes for. For the evening shoots. There was two different sets going on at the exact same time. I walked by the B.C. Place set 1st, but it didnt look like they were close to starting, so I went to check out the other location at the Vancouver Public Library. At that location, they were already under way... or at least further along in their process. They had Cody Laudan out there in The Flash costume getting ready to do a stunt as The Flash where he gets thrown across the grounds. After they did this short stunt, the team took a while to set up for the next take, so I went back to the other set. On that set, I had to laugh that they covered up 1 real construction crews banners, with their own for "Central Construction". Outside B.C. Place Stadium (aka - the exterior location for S.T.A.R. Labs ) the crew worked on scene out on the sidewalk part, far enough away from the stadium that its probably not playing into this scene. The first thing I saw there when I got there was a guy in a wardrobe jacket being led away from the set. At first glance (which was short, and from quite a distance.... I actually thought it was 1 of the Samuroids from season 4 at first glance, till I looked at my camera after. After seeing this mystery character, I waited around for him to return..... only to keep getting teased with him walking to & from set with the jacket covering him, but not actually shooting. While he was off, they filmed a scene with a single actress walking along on the phone with a coffee, wearing a Jitters shirt. She clearly sees this mystery character, screams, drops her coffee, and runs away. Finally, a bit later, they did a scene with the mystery character. Imagine my surprise when after not having a wardrobe jacket covering him, I saw he was dressed like a member of the ancient Roman Army. It bears repeating, this is a Flash set, not Legends Of Tomorrow. The scene is even sillier than it already sounds, as this Roman army guy runs across the grounds at a group of guys, and swings his sword around, seemingly killing them, before turning around celebrating by throwing his hands in the air, and putting his sword away..... if you can make sense of that scene, you are doing better than me at this. After that insanity, I went back to the other location where I knew The Flash was working, and I thought, would get some sense of normalcy again. Silly me. When I got there they were setting up to do a scene where The Flash, with Grant now on set as him, comes zipping in, and faces.... someone or something? The director was yelling instructions to him over a loudspeaker, telling him its a nightmare, and he cant escape it, and at some point he is overcome by something and ends up on the ground. While all this is going on, a man in a random red & black halloween looking mask also appears, before disappearing. A bit later, they filmed scenes of just the mystery masked man close ups, before wrapping for the night. EDIT: March 12, 2021 - Actor in the red & black mask has been identified as Ennis Esmer, and the character is Psych. This is certainly going to go down as the oddest set for The Flash I will have covered to date.
