The Flash cast & crew filmed scenes on Thursday & Friday nights, which went well into Friday & Saturday mornings in downtown Vancouver this week. On top of that, I also caught them out at Central Park in Burnaby back on Tuesday for a scene there, that I did not see, but saw who was on set. The outdoor scene in the middle of the forest in Central Park had 2 actors on set, along with director Danielle Panabaker. Those actors being Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, and the return of Arrow star Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen. The photos below are of them in their wardrobe for the scene, and not their personal wear. When the cast & crew got to downtown Vancouver 2 nights later, they were met by substantially more onlookers, and substantially more rain. This was 1 of the wettest sets I have been to in a long time. The set, at the Vancouver Art Gallery, was surrounded by fencing (a thing them, and them only have done the past couple times they have filmed at this location). On set for this, along with Danielle as director, were Grant as The Flash, Stephen as The Green Arrow, along with the other 3 announced returning guest stars for this episode, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West /Kid Flash, David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Ramsey Rosso/ Bloodwork. I got there early enough to see rehearsals done, and in 1 scene saw Diggle holding a bazooka. But I never saw him USE it in any of the scenes I saw shot (he may have, and it was out of view of the parts I could see.) The scenes on the Thursday night shoot had all 5 of them on set at different periods, in different combinations. I am unsure if all 5 were in 1 scene together, as the way scenes are shot, doesnt always tell that in person. But the way it played out, I BELIEVE this is all part of the same scene. At one point, a scene with Spartan & Green Arrow had Spartan speed walk up to GA & hug him, as if this was the 1st time they had seen each other since Crisis. Immediately after that, the pair would go off screen, and Kid Flash & Flash would come in, do a scene where the pair were seemingly pulling on some type of rope, or other item that can be pulled. Barry then yells out to Oliver that he has a clear shot now. A bit later, there was a scene with Arrow, Flash & Kid Flash standing together in a line (unclear if Diggle was also there, due to equipment impeding parts of the scene). It is unclear what the scene entailed, as they eventually all moved out of my view shortly after. Another scene on the night that was done, is 1 everybody is probably waiting for. The Green Arrow perched on top of a truck, yells out with quite some force "Ramsey Rosso, You Have Failed This City" as he aims his bow, and shoots in to the distance. Later on, they had Stephen and David out on set doing a scene, in it they had Sendhil raised a few feet into the air as Ramsey Rosso. I dont know the full context of it. Thats just what I know was happening. At one point, late in the night, David, Grant, Danielle, and Stephen posed together for a photo (unsure whose phone it was on, but I am sure 1 of them will post it on social media in the not too distant future). I missed that shot, but another photgrapher that was there, was generous enough to lend me 1 of his frames of it. Late in the eevening, myself, and a couple other fans managed to get Keiynan to stop & sign some autographs, and take a photo. It was raining harder then than maybe any other point in the evening. Fortunately, my umbrella did its job & kept them dry. Not long after that, I called it a night, and went home to recoup for the next day. On the 2nd night, they returned to the same location to film more scenes. On this night, I saw far less than the night before. Partially because of where they shot in the courtyard, and partially because of fans the night before ruining the best spot. I had crew tell me on multiple occasions throughout the night, that the reason that 1 of the streets was all blocked off with scrims (the large black tarps they use primarily for lighting, but sometimes privacy) was to stop fans from congrgating there, as the night before they were a constant nuisance to the people working in the tents that were right beside there with all their chatter.
So that misfortune, combined with my physical exhaustion & soreness from the night before, saw me far less motivated on night two. I spent a good chunk of it doing a Live Chat where fans got to see me wish Grant a Happy Birthday in real time near the end of the stream, and socializing with others that came out to the set. Before they started filming, Grant stopped to sign some autographs for myself, and one of the other regulars. He then stopped again later to do photos with people when he wrapped. The early part of the night had Grant, Keiynan, Sendhil, and Stephen on set (I actually never saw David all night, even though his trailer appeared to be in use). For the mostpart, I wasnt able to see a lot, just that most of the action seemed to take place around a towncar. At one point they did a scene with The Flash & Green Arrow seemingly getting up from the ground, but that was really all I could see of the scenes before their lunch break. After lunch, the only scene I saw shot was a stunt scene I had seen breifly being practiced 2 days before, with a bunch of men in SWAT gear attacking the Green Arrow, and he kicking their asses. I called this second night a bit earlier than the first night due to how sore I was after that 1st night, and the fact there seemed to be very little cast left. There will be some video from scenes from this episode to post in the next few weeks, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR THE FLASH SEASON 4 EPISODE 1 "THE FLASH REBORN" AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE EPISODE. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read possible spoilers about it prior to seeing it, do not continue reading the article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The cast & crew of The Flash got their season off to a start with filming in early July in downtown Vancouver in & around an area known as Cathedral Square. In the early part of the day, a scene was shot with Carlos Valdes as Vibe, Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash, Jesse L Martin as Joe West and returning guest star Britnie Oldford as Peek-a-boo shooting a scene I got there in time for the very last take of it, so I didnt really get to see much of that filming. After a break, they resumed filming further down the alley. This time, a scene involving Keiynan, but he wasnt dressed as Wally west, or Kid Flash, but he was dressed in the Barry Allen Flash uniform. In this scene he was taking on a samurai looking creature that I have seen referred to as a Samuroid in most places. The pair seem to get into a fight that sees the Samuroid throw Wally..err Kid Flash...uhhh I mean .... Flash? by using his samurai sword as a catapult. During breaks, Keiynan tried to stay cool by using a portable fan, and kept himself alert by doing little sprints in the alley after takes. The Flash returns to The CW in the U.S. on Tuesday October 10, 2017 You can view my other behind the scenes photos of The Flash HERE You can see my autographs gallery for The Flash HERE THIS IS A POST ABOUT SCENES SHOT FOR THE FLASH SEASON 3 FINALE. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE, AND DONT WANT TO SEE OR READ ABOUT ANY POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM THE EPISODE, DO NOT CONTINUE READING OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS BELOW. . . . . last warning . . * - article revised to include information after the episode aired. Original article stated Anne Dudek (Tracy Brand) and not Michelle Harrison (Nora Allen) was in the scene. It is info that was on the official call sheet for the day. The Flash shot several scenes out in public in the last week of filming, including the much talked about Funeral scene HERE. This set is about their 2 night shoots. The first one was the same night as the funeral scene. They moved to B.C. Place to shoot the big spoilery finale scene you have likely seen almost everywhere. In the scene, you can see Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells), John Wesley Shipp (Jay Garrick), Jesse L Martin (Joe West), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West), Candice Patton (Iris West), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon), Tom Felton (Julian Albert), Jessica Camacho (Gypsy) and Michelle harrison (Nora Allen) The scene shows Barry go around to everyone in the group and say some good byes to them, including a kiss with Iris, before he turns around, and for reasons I dont really know.... leaves with Nora*. In the other night scene shot a few days later at Victory Square. The crew and cast shot scenes in the same location we all know as where Iris dies in episode 309. A few cast were there at various times throughout the night....but I was too tired to stay in the wet weather to watch it all happen. Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L Martin, Candice Patton and Grant Gustin were all scheduled to work that night. I only saw Gustin and Patton working during the time I was there. What I did see though was a confrontation between The Flash & Savitar. Grant was doing scenes where he holds a big ass gun and shoots at Savitar. But does he hit him?? the way the scene plays out, it seems he doesnt. You can catch The Flash on Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S.A. and on CTV in Canada. You can find our other BTS blog posts on The Flash HERE You can find out autograph gallery for The Flash HERE THIS POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON 3 FINALE OF THE FLASH. If you do not want to see or read any possible spoilers for this episode, please do not read on or view the photos below. . . . last warning . . The Flash shot scenes for their 3rd season finale in a couple locations last week. First was a scene at Mountain View Cemetery in East Vancouver with every main cast member, and a couple guest stars. In fact the only notable member missing for the scene was Violett Beane. So, start your theorizing now on whos funeral they were there for. At the cemetery we had Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash), Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe), Tom Cavanagh (H.R. Wells/Harrison Wells), Tom Felton (Julian Dorn), John Wesley Shipp (Jay Garrick/The Flash), Jessica Camacho (Cindy Reynolds/Gypsy) & Anne Dudek (Tracy Brand) So whos funeral is it? Well, if you take the time to look down the cast list, your first instinct would be to assume Jessie Quick, since Violett Beane is not on set. A smaller possibility could be Cecile, Joes love interest since Danielle Nicolet is also not there & it would seem more probable to kill off a secondary characters love interest than 1 of the iconic speedsters. But the answer isnt as clear as that theory would suggest. The one thing we all know about The Flash universe, and I have seen almost no one talk about is, the infinite versions of each others characters there are. We've seen Tom Cavanagh play 5 different versions of himself already.... so when I finally tell you whos funeral they were all at, you'll go "ohh of course... I forgot about the multiple versions of each other.". So yes, the funeral is for a character played by someone that is also at the funeral. Thats the first thing we all need to know before I go any further. So you can cross Jessie Quick & Cecile off your list. Now its reasonable to assume that the crew didnt get together for a tear filled funeral to mourn a 2nd version of Anne Dudeks character since we barely know her 1st version. You know what, I could go on for an hour telling you why it could/couldnt be each other. Its for H.R. Wells. The version of Wells we see in the photos is Harrison (E2) "Harry" Wells, Jessies father, version of Wells. With the team all there I know it left a lot of people theorizing (I've read/watched some of these theories, and I have seen the more obvious assumptions like Iris West, or Joe West, to the more improbable ideas that its Barry Allen or even "Savitar".) about who is it and why and how etc. So you can start going around to all the different bloggers/vloggers you follow who had their sure fire ideas on who it could be and were wrong, and tell them they are wrong.... I know you want to. Its what the internet lives to do. Just remember when you do so, you were almost definitely wrong yourself. There was very little of the scenes we could see and nothing we could hear. So piecing together what some of the photos during takes, which were few & far between is hard to decipher the context. I can tell you 80-90% of the photos in this post are from the cast AFTER the scenes were cut, as the vast majority of the scene took place behind two massive low lying trees (convenient, or intentionally planned). The one part we do see is Barry consoling Cisco. Theres also a scene were we see Barry, Cisco and I believe someone else (not entirely sure anymore) over at a different tree talking with Caitlin. At the end of their talk, Caitlin walks away from them thru the graveyard. In between takes, many of the cast were in pretty great moods on the rare sunny day Vancouver has had of late. Tom Felton walked around playing his guitar from time to time, and even let Mr. Cavanagh use it for a bit. Danielle Panabaker seemed to either be skipping thru, or maybe trying not to step, on the gravestones after one of her takes, of course theres the post I tweeted with Carlos Valdes seemingly trying to lift up the dead weight of Grant Gustin in 1 moment. For the most part, the cast seemed to be 1 big happy group. With more or less everyone, including newcomer Anne Dudek, seemingly walking to & from set with other cast chatting. The why & the how, is a bit less clear... although I had my own theories on it. But I wont go into that, because I dont do theory posts here very often/ever. This set was pretty rare by The Flash standards, as most of the time a location shoot has 1-3 characters on set. With 10 (9 regulars/recurrings & Anne Dudek) this was easily the largest single day of cast on set I can recall. So no shock, it was also the best for meeting the cast. with the exception of Anne Dudek (who no one but me even knew), Jesse L Martin & Candice Patton, everyone in the cast signed autographs &/or took photos with people at some point throughout the day. A later shoot, which many of you found on youtube saw that same cast shooting a scene, minus Danielle. I will have a post on that coming up soon.... but for now, here is the daytime shoot photos. The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. If you have not seen the episode, and do not want to see or read about any spoilers, please do not continue reading or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . The 3rd annual all-DC Comics programs on The CW Cross Over event is about to happen. This time, 4 shows join the mix, as Supergirl joins on with last years additions to the party Legends Of Tomorrow. Of course they will team up with the original 2 from the first cross over, The Flash & The CW's pioneer of this superhero themed show push, Arrow. On a night in October, I managed to catch The Flash filming scenes outside B.C. Place (aka - the exterior of S.T.A.R. Labs) for their portion of the cross over. On set was a variety of characters from 3 of the 4 shows. From Legends Of Tomorrow was Mick Rory (Heatwave) & Sara Lance (White Canary). From Arrow was Oliver Queen (The Green Arrow), John Diggle (Spartan) & Thea Queen (Speedy) and from The Flash was Barry Allen (The Flash) and Wally West (Kid Flash). While I was told that ALL the actors of these characters were going to be on set the night of this shoot, I cant confirm ever seeing some of them. I saw Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell and Keiynan Lonsdale at various points. But whether or not Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, David Ramsey & Willa Holland ever were on set the night I was there is unknown. I certainly didnt stay for the whole shoot, as it was dark, cold and the only vantage point was from a bridge sidewalk nowhere near anything. MOST of the scenes I saw shot consisted of the stunt team doing work, with Grant, Stephen and Keiynan coming in for the required close up scenes. There seemed to be a lot going on, and frankly I didnt make a lot of sense of what I saw. I know at one point the Green Arrow & The Flash are tossed thru the air, and another time Kid Flash gets tossed thru the air. But what exactly caused all the chaos, I dont know. The 4 show Cross Over event starts Monday November 28th on Supergirl, followed by The Flash on Tuesday, Arrow on Wednesday & finishing on Legends Of Tomorrow in Thursday December 1st, all on The CW. THIS POST CONTAINS PHOTOS AND SCENE DESCRIPTIONS FOR EPISODE 301 OF "THE FLASH". If you do not want to see or read any potential spoilers to that episode before seeing it. Do not continue reading this article or viewing the photos below. . . . last warning . . Better late than never, right? Sorry for the delay in posting this, I had some delays with Comic-Con week, as well as a gag order from 1 of my sources on announcing what I can confirm now about the new character till a specific date. Thus the later than expected post of this. The Flash started filming season 3 earlier this month in studio. The 1st location shoot for the show was in downtown Vancouver on Tuesday, the 12th. Of course, we all saw the first promo photos of Keiynan Lonsdale in his Kid Flash outfit earlier in the day, and there was a reason for that. The production knew they were going to be filming in a very public spot with Keiynan suited up. What they DIDNT either A- Anticipate, or B - care about, was divulging the 2nd suited up speedster also on set that day. Todd Lasance (Spartacus, The Vampire Diaries) was on set as a mysterious 2nd speedster in a black suit. I have heard 2 different names used for him on set "Rival Flash" and "Enemy Flash" were used to describe him. What his OFFICIAL character name will be, is currently not known by me. But there has been a massive amount of speculation online, most of it pointing towards Black Flash, which isn't a very bad guess based on the colour scheme. Of course, with Flashpoint taking place, who knows what we were really seeing there. All we do know is other speedsters are here.... including Kid Flash. This was the 2nd location of the day. The first one had Grant Gustin & another actress doing a scene. The first scene of the day at this location had Grant Gustin dressed as Barry Allen and Keiynan as Kid Flash doing a scene where Kid Flash is falling from the sky, and Barry is trying to help him with his "tornado arm" thing hes done before. Whether it worked or not, I don't know. Because Barry had to race over to a dumpster to find Kid Flash laying in there unconscious. Barry then removes the mask to discover Wally West is Kid Flash. A later scene had those two, with Todd Lasance where it seems Lonsdale & Lasance are facing off in a battle while Barry seemingly watches from the sidelines. During the day I got autographs from Grant Gustin after rehearsals earlier in the day. After they wrapped for the night, I got Keiynan Lonsdale on some brand new Kid Flash photos that were just released that day. So all in all for me, a great day. The Flash returns this season on The CW in October. For more behind the scenes photos of The Flash filming, check out our "Flash Blog" section and of course for autographs of The Flash you can find those HERE THIS POST CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 222 OF "THE FLASH". If you have not yet seen the episode and do not want to read or see possible spoilers from the episode, do not continue reading or viewing the photos. . . . last warning . . The Flash shot scenes for episode 222 in downtown Vancouver a few weeks ago. They used a couple of locations on this night, most notable a building on Melville Street that they have used before (as as Arrow and others.). Later they moved out to the VERY open and public shoot on Burrard Street. The opening scene. The Melville location had a couple of recognizable names on location. Carlos Valdes was there, along with former Arrow star Katie Cassidy who was dressed a bit differently from her Black Canary days, as she was there to portray the role of "Black Siren" the E2 version of Laurel Lance. The scene was done inside, so we cant tell you what happened... but everyone that was there managed to meet the pair when they wrapped the scene. After that, the production moved to the alley behind the building with a scene that had two actresses (which i confused for pretty much everyone on the DC roster at 1 point or another while I was staring at them from a block away, thought girl in red might be Katie Cassidy, then Willa Holland, thought the other girl might be candice Patton, then Malese Jow.) that at this time I dont know who/what role they were playing, seem to be getting chased by a cloaked villain at the end of the alley. At this time I cant say much on what the scene entailed as I suspect a lot of VFX was going to be added in later. If anyone has any insight as to who the two actresses are, or the villian, please let me know so I can credit them properly. While that alley scene was going on, several of us met Grant Gustin as he left his holding area which was right near the first set, to go to the next location. In the late shoot.. over on Burrard Street saw Katie Cassidy out in full Black Siren garb facing off with Grant Gustin dressed as The Flash, and with a little assistance from Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West. I can confirm that Siren & The Flash had a face to face sizing up, and that from all accounts of the scene I saw their stunt personnel play out, it looks like E2 Laurel was getting the best of Barry, and seemed to use something similar to the Canary cry device Black Canary had on Arrow.
I know a lot of people are wondering if we will see Laurel on The Flash full time now that she is dead on Arrow. My feeling was this was a 1 off telling of E2 Laurel. Maybe I'll be wrong, but currently nothing has suggested other than that yet. The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada, and this episode will air TOMORROW NIGHT, May 17, 2016.
