The Flash cast & crew filmed scenes on Wednesday & Thursday nights, which went well into Thursday & Friday mornings in downtown Vancouver this week. In my previous blog that you can find HERE we had Grant Gustin as The Flash, as well as Javicia Leslie as Red Death, along with a stunt woman playing Batwoman, as well as a stunt double for Red Death also being in the scenes. This time, Grant, and Javicia were back again, but this time Javicia was in her Batwoman attire, while Red Death was being played exclusively by a stunt double. But they were also joined by 3 sort of unexpected returning characters. Andy Mientus (who was there working during his birthday, and the crew & cast sang him Happy Birthday when he wrapped, and gave him a little cake) was back as Hartley Rathaway / Pied Piper, he was joined by 2 of the most polarizing characters in the history of the show that fans either love unconditionally, or loathe, for the same reasons. Max Adler was back as Jaco Birch / The Hotness, and Damion Poitier was back as Keith / Goldface. Like the night before, scenes had Batwoman teaming up with The Flash in an effort to stop Red Death. This time, they were teaming up with the three unexpected former villains, turned anti-heroes. The early part of the night I didnt see a lot of what was going on because of the angles available, As the night went on, the 1st scene I got a really good look at seemed to just have the 5 characters standing around together, looking to be having a chat. Whether this is before, or after the big battle, was not known. The actors between takes were having a good time, and all seemed to be having some laughs on set. I then found another angle which only showed me the 3 returning characters standing together for that scene, as The Flash & Batwoman were blocked out by equipment. A bit later, after Grant and Javicia had wrapped for the night, they did more scenes with the trio of anti-heroes doing a scene with Red Death. It was VERY HARD to see any of it again because of the angles available, but I did get a little peek thru part of 1 of the burned out cars in the scene to see The Hotness and Pied Piper using their skills to try & combat something (presumably Red Death since I didnt see another character there), and then were thrown backwards, with Goldface by this same thing. After the trio wrapped. They did scenes with the stunt double for Red Death, and Batwoman, doing a fighting scene, where they traded blows through the wreckage of the burned out cars. That was the last I saw of the set. It was cold, and late, so even though they still had a couple more hours of filming left, I called it a night. Based off what I saw that night, along with a recent social media post form Javicia herself. It seems this arc ends in episode 5. Great to see her back 1 last time before the Arrowverse bids a farewell. Before she wrapped that night, she stopped and took some photos with fans, and signed some stuff, including for 1 fan, a Red Death Funko, which she said something that i didnt know if it was a question, or a statement of face, but was something like "I'm the first person to play a live action Red Death". I didnt hear her whole quote, just that part, so I dont know if she was asking the person she was signing it for if they knew, or if she was saying it as a fact. But it was cool to see someone from the Arrowverse acknowledge it in some capacity that its the character everyone knew it was, despite WBDs PR departments incompetent attempt to mislead. There will be some video from scenes from this episode to post in the next few weeks, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 6 EPISODE 18, AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. The Flash was on location for episode 18 of the 6th season in downtown Vancouver around the same location they had the final battle with Bloodwork for the end of the first half of season 6. It was a busy area for filming last night, as Batwoman was filming quite literally on the next block over. But I spent my time at The Flash, and good thing I did. Apologies in advance for some less than great photos. It was a perfect storm of things not going my way last night. Besides the typical Vancouver rain that I usually am used to, it was also pretty windy at times, I also was trying to work through that with my worst umbrella, as I have lost, or broken my other two better ones this season, and all that was amplified by the fact that TWICE in the night, I had my settings on my camera wrong. It was not a fun night all around. Last night they started a scene being done that included a couple stunt scenes first, with Grant Gustin and his stunt double Cody Laudan as The Flash in a battled versus........ GODSPEED! Yes, you heard that right. There were a couple scenes. First, one where they dropped a stuntman in the Godspeed outfit form several floors up onto a vehicle. A fan actually caught the rehearsal for this stunt earlier in the day here. After that Cody came out to do a scene where The Flash got thrown into a van. There was then a scene where Godspeed seems to be looking down at The Flash on the ground, and might be kneeling down towards him, when The Flash zips out of there. Lots of questions to be asked & answered from this reveal. Is this the actual Godspeed? is it another knock off like he battled at the start of the season? Is Godspeed part of Black Hole? However, Godspeed was not the only returnee last night. After Godspeeds first set of scenes, he left, and someone (I never was able to confirm if it was the same person, my vision isnt the best... if anyone else can confirm, or deny, or identify the person, please comment with that & I will update it) came in to do scenes dressed in a cloack, with gauntlets that glow green..... sound familiar? Pied Piper seems to be back. Oh, and he is helping The Flash. The pair did some scenes where they appear to be fighting Godspeed, as they both look up. At one point you hear someone yell out for The Flash, whether it was a crew member calling out a mark to Grant, or Piper asking him to help him, or to tell him to do something specific, I couldnt hear, all I heard was Flashs name get called out. A bit later, they did a scene where they slowly encroach on the vehicle Godspeed fell on. They get closer and Godspeed is laying flat out on the top of the crumpled vehicle. After that scene, they moved into the street. It was pouring rain, windy, and the only angle I had to see the scene was quite literally from just a bit under 2 blocks away thru traffic going along a major road, and all the crew & prop vehicles, so I only stayed for 3 or 4 takes of this scene. The scene SEEMED to have Godspeed grabbing a random person (if it is someone, I cant tell) while others run around in a panick. There also seemed to be a guy standing beside him at the start of the scene in a beige jacket wearing what appears to be sunglasses, which would be a bit odd in the middle of the night. Not sure if he is someone, or just a random crew/background person there. I know Grant went to set for this scene, so The Flash is in the scene..... somewhere, but I had a very limited window of space to view any of the scene which was frankly massive, so it was just luck that the part I could see had Godspeed in it. At about 3 AM, I decided I had enough of this, and went home. They were scheduled to film there for a couple more hours. So who knows what more might have gone on. Lastly, I just have to laugh at the Central City downtown map that doesnt actually have any street names, or the names of hotels etc. Just expects people to know what the street names are, and which hotel is which etc...... also, CC has several downtown Gas Stations..... while Vancouver itself only has ONE lol. There also was a van there for "Central City Crossover Comix & Collectibles" that seems to be owned by Barney Sands.... who is a character in the comics, as a neighbour of Barry as a kid. If you have not seem this episode, and do not want to read or view spoilers prior to its airing, please do not continue reading or viewing the photos. . . . . last warning . . Back in early November I caught The Flash shooting scenes for episode 111 in downtown Vancouver with Grant Gustin and his stunt double Cody Laudan as "The Flash" and this episodes guest star Andy Mientus as "Hartley Rathaway" aka "The Pied Piper".... or "Angry Harry Potter". There was several scenes shot on this day, including a cop car exploding...which I missed. However I did get there in time to see a couple other cool scenes. First up I got to watch The Flash run around behind a bunch of Central City cops, grabbing their batons & throwing them. Based on where he was throwing them, I am going to assume it was at Hartley Rathaway. A little later a cool stunt scene was shot (which I have video of, but wont post it till after the episode airs) of The Flash being tossed through a glass logo display for Rathaway Industries. Once The Flash picks himself he then confronts the Pied Piper. Scenes with Gustin & Mientus as The Flash & Pied Piper were then shot where The Flash appears to disarm the Piper and grabs him by the scuff of his neck. The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S and on CTV in Canada. This episode airs tomorrow, January 27, 2015. |
