The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Wednesday in 3 different spots around downtown Vancouver. In the morning, and early afternoon, they were shooting in the conference centre part of the Bayshore Hotel, near Stanley Park. Because of the position of some of the cranes, and the part they were actually in, there was almost nothing to see from this location. Only details I can pass along is, the scene had a bunch of blinking strobe lights going on, and Grant Gustin was on set as The Flash. I also briefly saw Carlos Valdes as he left at the end of the shoot, but never saw him in the scene. I know 1 of the two Danielles was on set, as I heard them reference her wrapping, but I dont know if it was Danielle Panabaker, or Danielle Nicolet. At one point as many as 6 different cast style transportation vehicles were waiting around, so there could have been more. The set up there, left it a bit of a challenge to figure out much of anything. I saw Grant on a break, and as he was leaving. Besides that, I saw him inside for brief moments through a small break between the equipment, trees, and frosted glass. I also saw an unknown guy being led by a crew member back to set all covered up. So I added 1 photo of him in there too, in case he turns out to be something, but he could just be a background character... but they rarely escort background to & from sets. The one detail from the shoot that DID catch my attention is.... what is The Flash wearing on the front of his head in the 1st photo? Is this the same device he had on when he was trying to prevent Grodd from controlling him. They would wrap this location around 3 PMish, and move across the downtown core to two other locations they would shoot night scenes for. For the evening shoots. There was two different sets going on at the exact same time. I walked by the B.C. Place set 1st, but it didnt look like they were close to starting, so I went to check out the other location at the Vancouver Public Library. At that location, they were already under way... or at least further along in their process. They had Cody Laudan out there in The Flash costume getting ready to do a stunt as The Flash where he gets thrown across the grounds. After they did this short stunt, the team took a while to set up for the next take, so I went back to the other set. On that set, I had to laugh that they covered up 1 real construction crews banners, with their own for "Central Construction". Outside B.C. Place Stadium (aka - the exterior location for S.T.A.R. Labs ) the crew worked on scene out on the sidewalk part, far enough away from the stadium that its probably not playing into this scene. The first thing I saw there when I got there was a guy in a wardrobe jacket being led away from the set. At first glance (which was short, and from quite a distance.... I actually thought it was 1 of the Samuroids from season 4 at first glance, till I looked at my camera after. After seeing this mystery character, I waited around for him to return..... only to keep getting teased with him walking to & from set with the jacket covering him, but not actually shooting. While he was off, they filmed a scene with a single actress walking along on the phone with a coffee, wearing a Jitters shirt. She clearly sees this mystery character, screams, drops her coffee, and runs away. Finally, a bit later, they did a scene with the mystery character. Imagine my surprise when after not having a wardrobe jacket covering him, I saw he was dressed like a member of the ancient Roman Army. It bears repeating, this is a Flash set, not Legends Of Tomorrow. The scene is even sillier than it already sounds, as this Roman army guy runs across the grounds at a group of guys, and swings his sword around, seemingly killing them, before turning around celebrating by throwing his hands in the air, and putting his sword away..... if you can make sense of that scene, you are doing better than me at this. After that insanity, I went back to the other location where I knew The Flash was working, and I thought, would get some sense of normalcy again. Silly me. When I got there they were setting up to do a scene where The Flash, with Grant now on set as him, comes zipping in, and faces.... someone or something? The director was yelling instructions to him over a loudspeaker, telling him its a nightmare, and he cant escape it, and at some point he is overcome by something and ends up on the ground. While all this is going on, a man in a random red & black halloween looking mask also appears, before disappearing. A bit later, they filmed scenes of just the mystery masked man close ups, before wrapping for the night. EDIT: March 12, 2021 - Actor in the red & black mask has been identified as Ennis Esmer, and the character is Psych. This is certainly going to go down as the oddest set for The Flash I will have covered to date. There will be some video from this nights shoot to post in the next couple weeks, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. THIS BLOG POST IS FOR A "THE FLASH" SEASON 7 (either episode 3, or 4. I believe its 3, but I can not confirm it), AND MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at B.C. Place Stadium (better know as the exterior for S.T.A.R. Labs) on Thursday & Friday nights. This is part 2 of this 2 night set. You can find my 1st part blog HERE. On this second night. A lot happened, so I split it into 2 posts. This portion of the blog will focus on the later scenes. Which adds more context into the first part sets cliff hanger. As well, as show another scene that was shot late at night with some additions to the scene. The early part of the night was committed to continuing on from the other nights scene which seemed to mostly consist of a battle between Grant Gustin as The Flash and Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch / Mirror Master / Mirror Mistress. As I stated in the other blog, Candice Patton joined this scene on the 2nd night to do a scene where she can be seen holding hands with Eva, and even consoling her. As I also said in that post, you can just barely see The Flash reaching out towards Eva, but what was his plan? Well, his plan was.... to join her. To hold hands with her. The trio stood on the steps together looking out at something. What were they looking at? What had these former foes seemingly teaming up? It appears a plethora of Mirror Mistress clones. As there was somewhere in the range of 6 to 8 actresses running around dressed like Eva shooting their arm cannons at a variety of background who were running around in a panic. In the background, a car was burning while this all went on. Does the new trio team win this battle? It seems so. While we never see them fight them in any way other than to hold hands and stare towards them, eventually they act like they won, and it is over. There was also a scene shot that I did not have photos of, but I do have a video clip that I will post in the next week or so, where you see a couple of these Mirror Mistress clones with their arm cannons pointed at The Flash, who is kneeling on the ground between the pair. Eventually they leave as Eva takes over. That scene SEEMS to be immediately before Iris comes over to Eva. But I can not 100% confirm the airing order of those scenes. The late night scene, that happened after their midnight lunch break saw the same trio there, now joined by 2 additional characters. Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon (or is he.... VIBE??) and Danielle Panabaker in her 1st public shoot since becoming a new mom in real life, as Killer Frost join the trio on the stair case. Cisco pulls off his Vibe looking glasses as the group looks out towards the scene unfolding in front of them. The way they were lined up looks like any photo from a promo shot of a cast I have ever seen. Is Eva joining Team Flash as a regular? Or is this her farewell redemption arc, like Marlize Devoe a couple seasons ago?
Through out the 2 nights, they frequently would shoot their big reaction full view scenes on the staircase facing the street. But for the more close up takes, would move back into the plaza more, and film them while they were standing sideways from the street, probably due to the fact it would be unsafe for them to set up so close to the stairs to do these shots, thus why a few shots it seems like I am "behind/to the side" of them for what seems like the same scene. There will be plenty of video from these 2 nights to post in the next week or so, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. The Flash was on location for the third episode of the season yesterday in an area of downtown Vancouver between Chinatown and the downtown core. The crew and cast were shooting scenes for the 3rd episode of the season with 3 cast. Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Candice Patton as Iris West Allen were doing scenes where they were walking together looking at a contraption that screams Cisco made. Are they out searching for a meta? Or is Cisco helping Iris with her investigating? They eventually look up at something above them. A bit later, a scene was done that had Tom Cavanagh on set, dressed in new duds. His attire is very "Indiana Jonesesque" right down to swinging in off a rope. Cisco seems to say something to him that seemed like he was happy to see him, before "new Wells" (did not catch if he had a specific character name) grabs him, shoves him up against a wall with a robotic looking arm and talks to him while showing him a large ruby. I guess Cisco should just be lucky this version cant vibrate his hand through his chest. Eventually new Wells lets Cisco go, and that seemed to be the end of the scene as Carlos and Candice left shortly after that, with Tom leaving a bit later. What is new Wells character supposed to be? The attire was close enough to Indiana Jones that 1 of the fans there said that to him & he responded that it was the look they were going for.So what will the "sensual" and "swashbuckling" new Wells really be about? Guess we will have to wait and see. Tom stopped to sign autographs and take photos in full costume as he left. Earlier in the day, Candice also stopped and took photos with some fans. In a rare decision, Carlos was the one who did not seem into interacting with fans on this day. You may NOT make 3 posts of just 1 part. Please make note of this rare bonus permission. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 601 yesterday in a quiet North Burnaby neighbourhood. The scene had Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Jesse L Martin as Joe West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West Allen, Danielle Nicolet as Cecille Horton, Victoria Park as Kamilla Hwang, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand *drum roll* Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon shooting a scene that takes place in a back yard. Judging by the attire of those there, it would seem they were shooting a hanging out in the backyard enjoying the day type of scene. The scene description on the film notice called it a "family bbq". Only thing I know of the scene is the attire most were wearing, and that at some point I heard the classic Flash air guns go off. Was Barry taking off to, or returning from, a situation, or did he just head off real quick to grab some steaks for the bbq? Barry, Joe & Iris were in full "summer time" attire mode, as Grant was wearing a Hawaiin shirt, Jesse had on a casual shirt, and Candice was wearing a floral orange/brown and white pattern summer dress. During 1 break, and after they wrapped, I had a chance to chat with a few of the cast. Some briefer than others. But mostly everyone seemed to be in a great mood. I asked Grant about his costume for this season, he confirmed there will be a chin strap/cowl for the army of haters out there for the season 5 suit. I asked him straight up if he was getting a new suit, he said "yeah, its mostly the same though..." then I asked specifically about the chinstrap/cowl situation, and he said there will be 1 this year. I then told him how it was many peoples largest complaint last year, and he turned around and in a really joking manner waved his arms and said "everyones so petty". Jesse told me that his back is all good. Also, Carlos was right about what he said to me at the end of last season when he said "and I'll see you", he sure did and waved at me to say hi as I was moving towards getting someone else. I felt bad that I didnt have a moment to at least say "good to see you back" to him. When I asked Danielle Panabaker if she had a chance to try out the new Killer Frost outfit yet, she just smirked and said "you'll just have to wait & see". Only notable cast that I did not see there, and they did not have a trailer there were Tom Cavanagh and Hartley Sawyer. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 522 earlier this month in downtown Vancouver. On night one of their 2 night shoot, there was a scene that had several cast on set. Grant Gustin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Danielle Panabaker, Hartley Sawyer, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Candice Patton. I caught a few moments sporadically throughout their shoots where I got a couple short videos. Apologies in advance if you are not happy with the video quality. Feel free to buy me a top quality video camera, and I will shoot better videos. But THESE were done with my $500 Camera (not video specific camera), and from 2 city blocks away. Lastly, when you are out at night looking at it on a 2 inch screen, it looks a lot better than when you finally get it home and see it on a 20 inch computer screen. In the first video below, I merged 3 different clips together featuring all the cast at different points. UPDATED APRIL 22, 2019 - 3:50 PM - More clips added at the bottom. You may NOT make 3 posts of just 1 part. Please make note of this rare bonus permission. The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 522 Wednesday night and Thursday night in Granville Plaza. Oddly enough, a location they used for last years finale. This time however, they were calling it "Central City Plaza" and had a fake hotel sign out there. The scene had Grant Gustin as The Flash, Carlos Valdes as Vibe, Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost, Hartley Sawyer as Elongated Man, Jessica Parker Kennedy as XS and Candice Patton as Iris West Allen shooting a scene with 1 other vry notable cast member on set. Tom Cavanagh was also there, but this time, not as Sherloque Wells, but as long time recurring villain Reverse Flash. Unlike the day before, when I showed up to a shoot for The Flash that lasted less than 2 hours, they used up every second they could this time, as the filming notices they have to hand out to businesses said they would film till 5:30 AM, and I can confirm that at almost 5 AM, a couple cast members were still there filming when I finally left. It is quite rare for an overnight shoot to use up every minute they can. Usually these notices say "5:30" but they are usually done by "3:00" (or some time frame around couple hours short of what they say they need). Of course the big spoiler on this set was that Grant Gustin had his 3 dogs at the set...... okay, and I guess, the Reverse Flash at some point gets out and is causing havoc. I was unable to confirm if this scene is in current day, or in 2049. But with the entire hero squad, and their blogger friend there, I feel it was a current day scene. The scene seemed to be splintered into parts, so I was really unable to really follow what all happens. All I can say is, the whole team lines up against Reverse Flash and lots of talking seems to take place. At one point they did a scene with just Flash & RF, and it seems like Flash AGAIN lets RF run away. But I cant say with certainty since like I said, the scene really seemed to be broken down into a lot of small parts that could play out in any random order on screen. There are MANY MORE photos from this set, but I wanted to get a few up right away for everyone to start talking about. So check back in a day or 2 to see a few more. I also have some photos from a daytime scene from the day before this shoot of Grant and Candice doing a scene, I will try to get to that this weekend. But obviously because of the importance of these scenes, I had to work on this one first. UPDATED: APRIL 12, 2019 - 12:30 AM - An extra photo added from Twitter user @TheMysciraBound that I asked her to send me, because it was a bit more crisp & clear front shot than any I got of Reverse Flash (I believe for a stunt scene). UPDATED: APRIL 16, 2019 - 7:45 PM - More photos added, from night 2 of filming at the bottom. Plus some details on the last night of filming. The Flash returns to TV for the end of season run on The CW in the U.S. on Tuesday after a few weeks off with the episode that I shot a couple months ago HERE and a short video HERE. If you want to see my past behind the scene shots for The Flash go HERE If you want to see my autograph gallery for The Flash go HERE Night 2 of shooting had much of the same..... except this time, there was the always present random smoke that The CW shows love to use so much. I think maybe 3 or 4 times in my life have I walked down a street or past an alley and seen as much steam/smoke coming out of it as these shows claim exists. Sometimes I find the smoky effect helps with photos, sometimes it hinders. On this night, I would say hinders. Especially when saddled with the fact I had to shoot from an extra 25 metres away this time. All the same cast were on set, again, shooting scenes with all the heroes, and Iris, facing off against Thawne. I saw moments where Killer Frost, Vibe, and Elongated Man, all at different times, seemed to be trying to use their powers. I am not sure what the context was of them using them, but each of them at some point seem to be using their special skills in this battle. At the end of the night, which was just a shade before 5:30 AM, the cast left. I chatted with Grant about his new hairdo while signed a few autographs for me, and he assured me it wont be on screen like that. He was going to be in his costume for the scenes after when he got the cut, so it was all good for continuity. So dont worry fans, Barry did not lose a fight with a razor. I chatted with Hartley and Jessica for a moment, and told both of them to enjoy their breaks, and they both thanked me for saying so. Of course, the big moment came when Carlos Valdes was leaving. I asked him again, as I did back during filming for episode 17, if he was coming back. This time, his answer was an emphatic "of course", and I said "ok, great, guess I'll see you next season" and he replied back "and I'll see YOU next season". So it sounds like you can count in Carlos for at least 1 more season on The Flash. That was the end of season 5 of The Flash filming. Enjoy these extra few (albeit quite grainy/fuzzy due to how far away I had to stand) photos from night #2 of filming.
