The Flash was shooting scenes for episode 517, directed by Rob Greenlea, on Cambie Street, across from Victory Square (Flash fans probably know Victory Square better as the place Savitar kills Iris) in the early part of the day. The crew then moved in to an alley just off Hamilton Street on the other side of the square in downtown Vancouver. The daytime scenes were interesting, although a casual passer by might not have known why (to be honest, I did not either right away). A scene was shot in the morning with the stunt team showing a couple going up to an ATM before it explodes on them, sending the pair flying thru the air. This scene really seemed to have no importance when you see it JUST as the way they filmed it. But later, when they moved to shooting a scene in a minivan you realize why this scene is so interesting. The couple gets out of the minivan, heads to the ATM, and after the accident, a small girl in the minivan screams...... if you have been watching this season much then you are probably already connecting the dots. The young girl in the minivan is of course Islie Hirvonen, better known as Grace Gibbons, the niece of Cicada. It is then clear that what we were watching is the scene where Grace sees her parents get killed. But why? how? Thats a mystery we will have to wait and see. I did not really photograph the couple because I thought they were going to have more work to do, and was waiting for a better angle to appear. Instead, the production re-set with a close tight view of the minivan to capture Graces reaction. I managed to snag 1 photo of Islie after she completed her shooting, and was waiting to get picked up to go back to the trailers. Shortly after this scene ended, a different scene at the ATM took place with a mystery woman in a hoodie. This woman went up, and used the ATM without consequences. Was this to show that not everyone had a problem with the machine? Or, was this woman the reason the machine became a problem for Graces parents? They then filmed scenes where a leaf blower was shooting money through the air. After that short scene, they started filming with main cast. Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen shot scenes outside the same ATM machine where the trio seem to be investigating the machine. Cisco at one point seems to vibe the machine, and seems mortified by what he sees. After a couple hours of filming that scene, they wrapped that location, with Jessica & Grant getting wrapped for the day. I managed to get a few Grant Gustin autographs as he left the set, I asked him how he liked working in the Green Arrow costume compared to his own. He said he loved it (he has benn pretty open about how much he dislikes the way his own suit feels), said it was like "working in pyjamas". I then got Carlos Valdes shortly after, as Carlos was walking over to the next location, his day was not done. I tried asking him about the rumour he might be leaving the show, and his reply to it was simply "I'm not the writers", suggesting that it isnt up to him, as much as if the writers decide he is done. The crew went on lunch break after having Carlos and Hartley Sawyer do a quick run through of the scene they were going to do after lunch. After the lunch break, the sun was gone, and it was time to shoot some night scenes. Carlos and Hartley came back from lunch, but they were not dressed in the attire they did the run through in. Instead Hartley was now dressed as Elongated Man, and Carlos was dressed as........ VIBE. Yes, you read that right, by episode 17, Cisco is able to go out dressed as Vibe again. So I am guessing Cicada finds out the truth by then. The pair shoot a scene in an alley where they seem to notice something off to the side of them, and then go towards it. Also, a scene was shot where it appears that Cisco creates a portal and they go thru it. During one unusually longer than usual break between takes, Carlos started dancing in the alley, and it went on for several minutes, while Hartley joined in occasionally a couple times for a few seconds. After Hartley left, I called it a night. So I dont know what might have been filmed after that. Carlos still seemed to be there. Could there be a Vibe VS Cicada scene? Or perhapswe see Vibe doing some solo work? We will all just have to wait and see I guess. The Flash airs on The CW in the U.S. on Tuesdays. It is on Netflix the day after the episode airs in most, or all countries. THIS IS A POST ABOUT SCENES SHOT FOR THE FLASH SEASON 3 FINALE. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE, AND DONT WANT TO SEE OR READ ABOUT ANY POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM THE EPISODE, DO NOT CONTINUE READING OR VIEWING THE PHOTOS BELOW. . . . . last warning . . * - article revised to include information after the episode aired. Original article stated Anne Dudek (Tracy Brand) and not Michelle Harrison (Nora Allen) was in the scene. It is info that was on the official call sheet for the day. The Flash shot several scenes out in public in the last week of filming, including the much talked about Funeral scene HERE. This set is about their 2 night shoots. The first one was the same night as the funeral scene. They moved to B.C. Place to shoot the big spoilery finale scene you have likely seen almost everywhere. In the scene, you can see Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells), John Wesley Shipp (Jay Garrick), Jesse L Martin (Joe West), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West), Candice Patton (Iris West), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon), Tom Felton (Julian Albert), Jessica Camacho (Gypsy) and Michelle harrison (Nora Allen) The scene shows Barry go around to everyone in the group and say some good byes to them, including a kiss with Iris, before he turns around, and for reasons I dont really know.... leaves with Nora*. In the other night scene shot a few days later at Victory Square. The crew and cast shot scenes in the same location we all know as where Iris dies in episode 309. A few cast were there at various times throughout the night....but I was too tired to stay in the wet weather to watch it all happen. Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L Martin, Candice Patton and Grant Gustin were all scheduled to work that night. I only saw Gustin and Patton working during the time I was there. What I did see though was a confrontation between The Flash & Savitar. Grant was doing scenes where he holds a big ass gun and shoots at Savitar. But does he hit him?? the way the scene plays out, it seems he doesnt. You can catch The Flash on Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S.A. and on CTV in Canada. This is the three show Crossover event episode with Arrow & Legends Of Tomorrow. If you have not seen this episode and want to avoid possible spoilers, do not continue reading the post or viewing the photos. . . . last warning . . As you are all aware by now, tonight The Flash will air the 1st half of a 2 part triple cross over episode with Arrow, and featuring cast from their upcoming combined spin-off Legends Of Tomorrow. A few weeks ago, I caught them in downtown Vancouver shooting scenes for this very episode. On set this day was Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon from The Flash. Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen from Arrow. Along with Falk Hentschel and Ciara Renee as Carter Hall and Kendra Saunders. There wasnt a lot to the scene that had the 5 of them together in it. They all just were walking along down a staircase. However, after Barry & Oliver part off from the scene, theres a scene where Carter & Kendra share a hug as Cisco awkwardly lurks around waiting for it to end. Then Carter leaves, leaving Cisco and Kendra alone. Cisco then presents Kendra with a pendant, and she eventually reaches out & kisses Cisco.... and thats it. That was the end of the scene there. After they wrapped there, My friends & I managed to get Ciara & Falk to sign some autographs, while a little fan got his photo with Carlos at his transportation vehicle. Grant was telling everyone he was quite sick that day, so he avoided interacting with anymore. Later that evening, they filmed a scene at a location near the original location, with Grant, Stephen, Falk & Ciara. It was apparently on a roof top, but I never did find out for sure. After that, Stephen Amell came out and met a few fans there & chatted for a bit before heading off. Legends Of Tomorrow will star in January 2016 on the CW. |
