The Flash shot a scene in October in Victory Square that could be for episode 309 or 310 (I sort of forgot now which ep they were on). The scene is pretty epic in a lot of ways.... but, knowing how the show is, and considering 1 of the cast in the scene had just recently let it drop at a convention that she had recently read the script for an episode several weeks after this episode, its kind of 1 of those anti-climactic spoilers that will be ruined by a convenient writing switch to completely erase the impact of the scene.

In this particular scene, A stunt actor in a CGI motion capture suit that is supposed to be Savitar faces off with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen as The Flash. Savitar is holding Candice Patton as Iris West at the top of a staircase in Victory Square, while Barry stands at the bottom. Eventually Savitar make some motion that leaves the limp lifeless body of Iris West falling before Barry catches her as she falls. I know a few people asked on twitter about how I know he kills her. Well, plain & simple. Things I have seen and heard on set that night. Thats all I can say on it right now.

Obviously, as anyone knows. There is NO WAY the writers are killing off Iris West. In fact the actress said at a convention panel just days  afterwards that she had already read the scripts for episode 14 which would imply shes still around (of course, whos to say shes not an Iris from a different Earth now.) Several things could be happening in this scene. It could be a dream. It could be a different earth. It could even be that she is actually killed and Barry has to do that unspeakable act of going and resetting time...... again. We will just have to wait & see how it unfolds.

Now this scene is unusual for several reasons.
First, no actual actor was on set for the part of Savitar, just a stunt stand in guy the first time.
Second, they shot this entire scene over again a few weeks later, but there was a slight difference in the fact other cast were also on set that were not around for the original scene that I shot in October.
Third, they DID have an actor on set as Savitar for the 2nd time they did this shoot, former Twilight star Daniel Cudmore was in the Savitar outfit.
Fourth, doing such a public scene for such a notable moment is rare.

As a fan on set that night told me when I told him what the scene was they were shooting, he replied "oh yeah, they do that in the comics". But even with that knowledge, I'm shocked they would shoot it in a public location (granted they tried to do it as late as possible & tried covering it up as much as possible.... the 1st time.).

Whether this is in the mid-season finale tomorrow night, or the mid-season premiere, I cant be too sure.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW in The U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

Back in August I caught The Flash shooting in New Westminster for episode 5 "Monster" with the shows director of photograph Kim Miles as director.

In the scene I saw, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West, Danielle Nicolet as Police Chief Cecile Horton and Candice Patton as Iris West were on set shooting. The scene wasnt terribly complex to follow. It starts off with Joe and the Chief sitting down on a bench talking. The tone of the chat didnt really tell me much about whether it was a professional chat or a personal chat between the two. But what was clear was after the Cecile leaves when Iris shows up with a bag of Big Belly Burger (apparently the ONLY restaurant in the entire DC Universe) is that Iris did not seem impressed with her dads choice of conversation partners which makes me believe this chat wasnt so much professional, and a bit more personal as the daughter storms off in a huff.

In whats becoming an all too familiar pattern when 1 certain cast member is on set for a scene, the crew tried pretty hard to prevent people from being able to see much of the scene by putting up extra things to block the view & where they couldn't block it out, they had crew members stand holding umbrellas in the middle of a sunny August day... but as usual, I still managed to get my fair share of photos.

Before this scene, they shot across the street at the brand new Anvil Centre. Unfortunately that shooting was inside, so I cant tell you what was going on in there.
The Flash is on Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada. This episode is currently scheduled to air November 1, 2016

The Flash filmed a scene for season 3 in Yaletown on August 3rd with Grant Gustin and Candice Patton.

The scene was pretty simple. Grant, as Barry Allen was making every effort to woo Candice, as Iris West, his adoptive sister lets not forget, to date him.

Seemingly the scene sees Barry waiting for Iris to come out for a date. With him, he has two massive floral displays, one in the shape of a heart, the other spelling out his adoptive sisters name.

During the rehearsals after 1 take, Grant laughingly said "I guess now we're going out now". Which got a mixture of laughs and groans from the crowd watching the filming. But during the actual filming, both him and Candice put on their game faces and worked their way thru the awkward pseudo incestual moment that the writers insist isn't supposed to be weird.

During breaks as the crew worked to set up different angles to film it from, Grant would hang out with fans at one point, and chat with crew on other breaks. While Candice sped back to the cast tent and away from the public as usual.

There were scenes shot earlier that day in the same area that featured guest star Joey King, but I missed them by mere minutes as showed up just as Ms. king left.

The Flash, season 3 debuts TONIGHT October 4, 2016 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

You can check out my other blog posts about The Flash filming in the past here.

Those who are familiar with my blog or my twitter account are more than aware I generally have a disliking for 1 of the people in this set and try as much as I can to not post photos of them on this blog.... but, a couple fortunate moments fell in place for those looking for more pics of her. 1- I wanted a blog to post the day that The Flash season 3 arrived and 2- The only two sets I had of The Flash since my big season premiere spoiler blog post had said actress in it..... so here I find myself. So, enjoy.

In early August, I caught The Flash out shooting scenes for their 3rd episode of season 2.

The first night was an odd one for me. It started off quite disappointing, but ended with a cool memory.

Scenes were shot inside with a variety of cast, most importantly for me was Peyton List and Candice Patton. I had several photos I hoped to get them to sign. I even saw Peyton...briefly, unfortunately, not in enough time to react. Sadly, that 1 brief sighting was all we would see of her the rest of the day. While there, we randomly ran into Victor Garber, aka - professor Martin Stein. He wasn't working, he just happened to be walking by that area. My buddy had some Legends O Tomorrow cast promo items he got him to sign, and I had 1 left over photo from Argo to get done.

Later on they started setting up for a scene outside in an alley. It was going to include Grant Gustin and Candice Patton. Eventually Grant arrived and did a rehearsal for the scene. When rehearsals were done, the pair left. In that same time, the crew asked everyone to vacate the area they were standing in and move all the way to the other end of the alley. This was important for 2 reasons.

As we were leaving, I got a call from my friend who had JUST left to catch his last bus telling me the car Grant was in was back up top where we were earlier. The group of 15-20 fans made the long block and a bit trek up a side lane, out onto the street where we had been waiting for hours earlier, down that street, and up the back side of the alley at the opposite end of where we just were. This was funny to me, because an entire group of fans walked down the street, stared RIGHT AT the security guy who was standing beside the vehicle they just saw Grant leave in, right outside a trailer with its lights on inside and thought nothing of it and kept walking. I of course stopped. As did two other autograph hounds. Almost instantly grant came out, saw us, came over, signed for me, signed for 1 of the other two and said he had to get going and left to go back to set.

I wandered around with 1 of the guys for a few minutes as we looked to find a good spot to watch the scene. in the end we ended up joining the 6-8 fans still there at the end of the alley. Eventually the scene they were shooting needed a break to turn all the equipment around so they could shoot from the opposite direction. While that went on, Grant in his new, previously not seen by me white logo Flash suit sprinted down the alley towards us, and quickly rushed by high fiving everyone before looking like he was about to leave again. A couple moments later, he came back to the group. This time he stopped to interact, sign autographs and meet the fans.

A fan had brought something interesting for grant to see. it was apparently 1 of the outfits Brandon Routh wore when he had the role of Superman. Since Grant is a massive Superman fan, he was pretty thrilled to see it. After that interaction I asked Grant if it was ok to get a pic with him in the suit. It was something I had discussed with him going back as far as last season, with the response being "we'll see" both times prior. I said "remember that thing we discussed the other day" he knew what I meant & said yeah, I asked "is now a good time" and he replied "sure" and he took a photo with me while he was in his Flash suit. Of course, everyone else wanted the same and he happily obliged them. That certainly made up for my prior disappointments of missing Peyton and Candice to say the least.
The second day of shooting saw the cast a block away at a business tower. If you are a fan of Arrow, you may recognize it from season 2 as the lobby of Queen Consolidated. Today, it was playing the part of a general business tower in Central City somewhere.

This particular scene had 3 cast members in it. Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Wenworth Miller as Leonard Snart (aka - Captain Cold) and Michael Ironside as Lewis Snart.

The scene seemed to have the Scarlet Speedster and his sometimes nemesis Captain Cold teaming up with Cold's father in some scene that had them dressed as a cleaning crew.

The scene was completely shot inside, so there was not much chance for fans to see what was shot. An earlier scene deeper inside the building away from any street view was also shot with the same cast.

After filming the cast left. Wentworth stopped to take photos with all the fans who patiently waited till about 1 AM for them to wrap.

The Flash films scenes for the season 2 premiere in downtown Vancouver on a couple different days

8/9/2015

The Flash filmed some scenes in downtown Vancouver earlier in July for the season 2 premiere.

The first day they shot scenes in a large park in the West End for "Flash Day" in Central City. I missed all the actual filming, but I did get there in time to see Carlos Valdez on lunch and meet Adam Copeland (aka Edge from WWE) who was guest starring in the episode.

A couple days later, I caught up with them shooing in an alley a block from BC Place. There was very little to be seen there due to the way the alley was set up.

Again Adam Copeland was on set, along with Grant Gustin dressed in his standard Flash suit with the red logo still being repped (spoiler alert for those not on the internet in the last 3 weeks and this is the first thing you are seeing... a change is coming to the logo SOON).

The most interesting thing from this shoot wasn't the actors on set. It was a new prop that I'm assuming the CCPD has. As much as I love the Flash, I am a little disappointed to see them so blatantly rip off an idea from another superhero show. The Flash now has his own version of The Bat Signal.

I also added a few pics of the cast of The Flash going to & returning from Comic-Con weekend. Grant, Carlos, Tom Cavanagh, Victor Garber and Candice Patton.

The Flashs season 2 begins October , 2015 on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

The Flash shoots scenes for episode 318 and maybe 319 back in February

I ran into The Flash a couple times in mid February, as they shot scenes for episode 118 (and possibly 119)

The 1st set I know were for 118 as Emily Kinney and Amanda Pays were on set that day. The shoot took place at a massive business park in South Burnaby that's used by most productions at some point. The shoot was all interiors, but I can tell you I saw Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Rick Cosnett, Tom Cavanagh along with previously mentioned 2 guest stars there that night.

Uunfortunately, the location left no chances to shoot any parts of the scenes. However, meeting the cast was plausible. I went out there that day & night to meet The Walking Dead star Emily Kinney. While I did meet everyone else that was there that night, Ms. Kinney was less than receptive to meeting fans at any time I was there. Allegedly she met fans earlier in the day, but, during the 11 hrs I spent there, she never did. Even as she wrapped, and KNEW the whole TWO of us that were there were still waiting, and that she had earlier denied when she said "I just got to go to set (a small lie... she went to set 20 mins later.. after going to hair & make up, then coming back to her trailer for a few mins), so its not like she didn't know why we were there....  she speed walked from her transport vehicle, into her trailer, they speed walked from her trailer to her awaiting shuttle vehicle. I rarely take it too personally if a celeb denies signing for me. I get it. But this particular instance, I took pretty personally. She COULD have said "no" one of the 3 or 4 times prior, or even as she was leaving for the night. Instead, just left the pair of us there hanging. Classless move by her. A simple "no" would have solved everything.

This episode of The Flash comes up this week.
Just two days after that I found the set for The Flash 2 times that day. First up was a shoot at Victory Square with Danielle Panabaker as Caitlyn Snow and Candice Patton as Iris West and a young girl.

It was hard to make out what all was going on in the scene, but it appeared the little girl was speaking quite annoyed/angrily at Iris and Caitlyn who were in a car. Unfortunately, I got there near the end of their shoot, so I never saw a lot of the scene, just 3 or 4 takes. While I was there, I saw Grant Gustin show up for reasons I do not know (he never did any scenes there...and seemingly wasn't there very long). Shortly after, the crew moved to their second location, about a 20 minute walk away at a residential area in Strathcona.

At the 2nd location there was not much to see besides the actors going in or coming out of the house they were shooting at. I've been to sets like this 100X, they are pretty bland, mundane interaction experiences that don't require a lot of "security". However, this particular small, irrelevant set had more security than most high profile big budget films do. I even asked the 1 main guard what the deal was, he responded that he was just as perplexed by it as we were. There was no spoilers to be seen as they were filming indoors, the wasn't even any "special guest stars" of note to hide. This really shouldn't have been a "high security" situation, and as I pointed out to the main guard, and he seconded my observation, MOST of the security they had brought in were utterly pointless & more in the way than  anything they were "guarding". I got a few pics of Rick and Grant coming out of the house 1 take, then left.... which was for the best Just as I got to the porch of my house, which was only a 8-10 minute walk away, the skies opened up and a substantially intense downpour erupted for the next 1/2 hour or so. Had I been even 2 minutes longer, I would have got soaked to the bone... so I guess the extra security and interior shoot DID something positive for me, it inspired me to leave early.

The scenes on that 2nd day I believe are for episode 19, but could be 18 just because of how close it was to the filming date of the scenes that I know were for 18. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

The Flash returns from its 1 week hiatus Tuesday on The CW in the U.S. and on CTV in Canada.

The Flash shoots scenes for an episode (I believe 116, maybe 115) with Grant Gustin and a guest star.... and more.

I ran into the hit rookie superhero show for The CW, The Flash, in downtown Vancouver a few weeks ago filming a scene for an episode (I think its 116, could be 115 though)

It did not seem to have much to it from where I was watching early on. Grant Gustin as The Flash comes running down the street & comes to a skidding stop.

An interesting observation on the night was how often Grant came over to meet fans & regulars alike. I counted personally 4 different times. In a day & age where celebs coming over more than once to see fans is at best abnormal, and 3 times, rare, seeing someone come over at least 4 times is in my experiences unheard of. Kudos to him. I have found him to be very hit & miss on when he comes & meets fans, but when he does he really does give a 110%.

I left the set for a little while. When I returned later, I got back in time to watch the scene from the other side when they re-set the cameras and I was able to hear a bit of the going on for the scene. The Flash was looking for Cisco. Someone off camera yells at him (I only saw 1 take of it, so I wasn't prepared for it, so I didn't catch if it was Caitlyn or Iris) and the assumption would be Caitlyn, but his reaction to the inquiry of "Barry, is that you?" makes me think it could be Iris.

Especially after the spoilery pics that came out earlier that day of a scene shot with Candice Patton and Grant, which I was lucky enough to see afterwards when they were re-playing it on the set randomly. I've added 1 pic of that below.... sorry its smaller than the others, I wasn't expecting what I saw & didn't have my zoom set properly.

After the main cast wrapped, they did a scene with a girl with colourful hair standing on a corner looking around for something. I didn't recognize her. Never found out who it was, but they did scenes of her by herself on the corner.

Obviously, there is always context to every scene that some still photos don't show. But is it possible Iris has found out Barrys secret? Also, where is Cisco?

The Flash will return Tuesday March 17th after a 3 week break in the U.S. on The CW or in Canada on CTV.
