This time however, they were filming on the outside of the building, as opposed to the last time when I could only see snippets of what was going on through the frosted glass on the windows. This episode is being directed by Philip Chipera, in his 4th gig with the show (he was the director of last years unexpected season finale episode, and 2 in 2018). On this day, they were shooting scenes in front of the Westin Bayshore Hotel, which was made this time to look like a place called the "La Salle Building". Why were they there? Who knows. But they shot a couple different sets of scenes there. The first scene was a stunt scene (I didnt stay around for it as I was working 2 sets just a few blocks apart from each other at the same time) with Cody Laudan in The Flash attire. When I returned a couple hours later, Grant Gustin was then on set as The Flash. The scene had The Flash seemingly unable to move forward, before moving backwards. Then a person who I had seen on set 2 months earlier, started walking towards where The Flash just was, before stopping and wiping his hands against each other in that "mission accomplished" way people do that. That character is Psych, played by Ennis Esmer. With a daytime scene, I was able to get much more clear, and detailed photos of the Psych outfit. You can now see more of the details in his mask, and that he seems to wear purple gloves as well. That was then the end of their scene, and the next set was getting set up. In the later scene, Candice Patton was there as Iris West Allen, along with Victoria Park as Kamilla Hwang, and Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia, to shoot a scene of the trio seemingly working as "Team Citizen" for the blog Iris started up, the Central City Citizen. In the scene, the trio walk towards a limo that is pulling up at the front doors of the building. A well dressed woman is there, and Team Citizen stop to talk to the woman, and Kamilla seems to show her something that seems to maybe be on a phone. The woman walks away from them, and is then confronted by Psych. The woman & Psych have a conversation that at times seems friendly, but then in the end Psych does something to cause the mystery woman to crumble to the ground, much like The Flash did a couple months earlier when I saw them at a different set. Then they did a cut where Iris is suddenly 20-30 feet closer to where the woman & Psych were, from where she was. They had a bit more time to shoot that day, but I didnt see any sign that anything substantially different might be getting filmed, so I called it a day. There will be some video from this nights shoot to post in the next couple weeks, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. They were filming scenes for episode 707, with Alexandra La Roche directing. (director of Goldfaced episode, as well as 5 other episodes of The Flash, plus 7 other Arrowverse episodes over the years on Legends Of Tomorrow and Arrow). The first location was in a lot attached to B.C. Place, which many know as the place for exterior shots of S.T.A.R. Labs. This is a location they have used at least once before as shown in this previous set HERE .... but not since season 1. Again, like back then, they used it as a parking lot at the CCPD. This time, the location had several Police cars, and 1 Meta Human Task Force vehicle there. The scene had Jesse L Martin as Joe West, shooting a scene with Carmen Moore. In the scene, we see Joe speed walking after this woman, who is named Kristin Kramer, through the lot. According to the synopsis for episode 7x05, Kristin is "a member of the "Governor's Municipal Logistics Commission" (whatever thats supposed to be) As she gets to her car, he confronts her, and the pair have a serious, but not seemingly hostile, talk. It seemed like Joe was trying to reason with her for some reason. But what could that be? They did shoot another scene after that at the side of that Meta Human truck, but there was no reasonable angle to see what was going on. What I can say is, immediately before they started shooting that scene, Danielle Panabaker showed up in Killer Frost attire. I can not say if she was in this scene, but her timing compared to when they started filming would suggest she could have been. As well, based off the second set below, I think its probable she was in the scene..... just what was the premise of the scene is completely unknown though. The second location was in a parking lot across the street from B.C. Place, in a place that really is only used for parking now, but used to be a popular sports bar back in the day. I actually passed that location first on my way to the earlier location, so I stopped and took a couple close up shot of the doors & posters while the chance was there. A few hours later, the crew moved to this location. Many of the Police vehichles from the first location were moved over to this location. Including that Meta Human task force vehicle. In this night scene, they had made the empty building look like a pub, even decorated with fake signage out on the street promoting the now recurring made up band Sickada (seen on this season 7 set on a poster) at O'Shaughnessy's Pub. Outside the pub, the CCPD had set up to take down someone.... but who??. Well, much to my shock, KILLER FROST! The woman from the earlier scene, Kristen Kramer, was now at this location yelling orders at Frost to come out with her hands up. She tells her she has 2 minutes to come out, then 1 minute, then says time is up, and tells the squad of Meta Human Task Force members to move in, before seeing Frost move towards the front door with her hands up. She then tells the task force members to stand down, as Frost comes out, and agrees to being handcuffed. So you can start your speculations on WHY is a group that you would think Captain West would have some control over, is pursuing Frost now. How did she go from helping Team Flash in episode 3 of this season (HERE) to being hunted by the CCPD? Is this what the earlier interaction at the other set was over? On my walk back over there before the scene started, I got there moments before Danielle got to the set. She was wearing a face shield, instead of a mask. I have seen both versions being used by different crews, but she was the 1st cast member I had seen on The Flash using this method. I got to speak to her momentarily & congratulate her on her new child. She was, as always, pleasant & thanked me. It was quite cold this night, and there was only about an hour left in filming at that location when I decided that I needed to call it a night. Perhaps more was filmed after, but considering how little time was left on their time there, it seems unlikely much else came of the scene. I will have some video of these scenes later on this month. You can this when its up, as well as my other past videos on my Youtube channel. The Flash season 7 will air Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S. starting February 23, 2021. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Wednesday in 3 different spots around downtown Vancouver. In the morning, and early afternoon, they were shooting in the conference centre part of the Bayshore Hotel, near Stanley Park. Because of the position of some of the cranes, and the part they were actually in, there was almost nothing to see from this location. Only details I can pass along is, the scene had a bunch of blinking strobe lights going on, and Grant Gustin was on set as The Flash. I also briefly saw Carlos Valdes as he left at the end of the shoot, but never saw him in the scene. I know 1 of the two Danielles was on set, as I heard them reference her wrapping, but I dont know if it was Danielle Panabaker, or Danielle Nicolet. At one point as many as 6 different cast style transportation vehicles were waiting around, so there could have been more. The set up there, left it a bit of a challenge to figure out much of anything. I saw Grant on a break, and as he was leaving. Besides that, I saw him inside for brief moments through a small break between the equipment, trees, and frosted glass. I also saw an unknown guy being led by a crew member back to set all covered up. So I added 1 photo of him in there too, in case he turns out to be something, but he could just be a background character... but they rarely escort background to & from sets. The one detail from the shoot that DID catch my attention is.... what is The Flash wearing on the front of his head in the 1st photo? Is this the same device he had on when he was trying to prevent Grodd from controlling him. They would wrap this location around 3 PMish, and move across the downtown core to two other locations they would shoot night scenes for. For the evening shoots. There was two different sets going on at the exact same time. I walked by the B.C. Place set 1st, but it didnt look like they were close to starting, so I went to check out the other location at the Vancouver Public Library. At that location, they were already under way... or at least further along in their process. They had Cody Laudan out there in The Flash costume getting ready to do a stunt as The Flash where he gets thrown across the grounds. After they did this short stunt, the team took a while to set up for the next take, so I went back to the other set. On that set, I had to laugh that they covered up 1 real construction crews banners, with their own for "Central Construction". Outside B.C. Place Stadium (aka - the exterior location for S.T.A.R. Labs ) the crew worked on scene out on the sidewalk part, far enough away from the stadium that its probably not playing into this scene. The first thing I saw there when I got there was a guy in a wardrobe jacket being led away from the set. At first glance (which was short, and from quite a distance.... I actually thought it was 1 of the Samuroids from season 4 at first glance, till I looked at my camera after. After seeing this mystery character, I waited around for him to return..... only to keep getting teased with him walking to & from set with the jacket covering him, but not actually shooting. While he was off, they filmed a scene with a single actress walking along on the phone with a coffee, wearing a Jitters shirt. She clearly sees this mystery character, screams, drops her coffee, and runs away. Finally, a bit later, they did a scene with the mystery character. Imagine my surprise when after not having a wardrobe jacket covering him, I saw he was dressed like a member of the ancient Roman Army. It bears repeating, this is a Flash set, not Legends Of Tomorrow. The scene is even sillier than it already sounds, as this Roman army guy runs across the grounds at a group of guys, and swings his sword around, seemingly killing them, before turning around celebrating by throwing his hands in the air, and putting his sword away..... if you can make sense of that scene, you are doing better than me at this. After that insanity, I went back to the other location where I knew The Flash was working, and I thought, would get some sense of normalcy again. Silly me. When I got there they were setting up to do a scene where The Flash, with Grant now on set as him, comes zipping in, and faces.... someone or something? The director was yelling instructions to him over a loudspeaker, telling him its a nightmare, and he cant escape it, and at some point he is overcome by something and ends up on the ground. While all this is going on, a man in a random red & black halloween looking mask also appears, before disappearing. A bit later, they filmed scenes of just the mystery masked man close ups, before wrapping for the night. EDIT: March 12, 2021 - Actor in the red & black mask has been identified as Ennis Esmer, and the character is Psych. This is certainly going to go down as the oddest set for The Flash I will have covered to date. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting on Friday under neath the Cambie Bridge, just a couple blocks from where my last set report for The Flash came from. On this night, they were filming a scene in a corner of a park that they had made to look more like a parking lot (which I find a little funny, in that you'd think they coulda just rented a parking lot to look like a parking lot). The crew was being more active than usual at trying to minimize views for passer bys. It was in a busy residential area, and path way for bicyclists & people out for walks, as it was less than 100 metres from a creek that people often walk along in the city. As the night went on, it became pretty clear they were trying a little harder to try and block me. To be fair, I was probably the only one there through most of the night actually with any type of device larger than a cell phone. The first scene I saw shot had Grant Gustin as The Flash doing a scene with a returning guest star from a few seasons ago. David Dastmalchian was back as Abra Kadabra. As Pursuit23 had stated 2 weeks earlier on twitter, David was back in Vancouver, and the timing of his arrival, and the mandatory 14 day quarantine just happened to line up with this episodes filming. The scene had The Flash laying on the ground at one point, before getting up, yelling "What have you done?" at Abra Kadabra before doing his patented lightning throw move. Whether or not he hits Abra Kadabra is unknown, as the way the production had the area covered only gave partial looks at the scene. A bit later they did a portion of the scene that I feel comes before that based on where Grant & David were standing, where Abra Kadabra seems to be using his wand to do something. A bit later, they did a scene (that I only got to see a rehearsal for before I was asked to move from where I was) where a large person standing on stilts, and wearing a massive foam tube shaped hat (last season I called him "tall Abraham Lincoln" because of his hat in a post) on his head. I have only seen them use this set up 1 other time on set. Last season, to stand in for the shape of Bloodwork. When they are doing large CGI built creatures like that, they need a reference point for the actor to look for, so they usually get someone to wear something extra long on their head to give the actor that point. So he COULD possibly be another large character, but since I have not seen them use this specific design, right down to the costume he had on for any other characters, I FEEL it could be the return of Bloodwork.... but I do NOT know that to be a certainty. In this scene, it simply had this massive character seemingly grabbing The Flash in some sort of bear hug move, before letting him go. It did not seem like a long scene. But the actor playing that character did seem to stick around for the later scene, but I could not see from the vantage point I finally had when filming started, if/how, he might have been used in the scene. The final scenes of the night, had Cody Laudan (Grants stunt double) filling in as The Flash for scenes where Grants face and voice were not needed since the camera focused on Abra Kadabra. In early rehearsals, it seemed tall Abe Lincoln was behind Abra Kadabra by like 10-20 metres, but I never saw if during the actual filming of the scene he was still there. They had 1 other scene, that I dont really know what it was, as I saw no apparent action happening in it. But it had tall Abe and The Flash standing a couple feet apart, with The Flash on a pile of milk crates to be close to the height of tall Abe. The one last scene they shot for the night was again Cody doing a small stunt where he jumps off a pile of milk crates (no sign of Abe around for it), and lands in what appeared to be a bag of some type (it was flat on the ground, so it could have just been a mat, but it seemed to have more shape to it than that). Right after that, they wrapped for the night. Before they left, I went and tried to get a couple of close up shots of some posts they had out there, because they had decorated them with some seemingly fake looking music posters. The band names I was able to make out were "Second Unit", and "Sickada". There were a couple more, but I didnt realize till I got him that the shots I got of them were not good. I also got 1 other photo of something, which I am not posting till I can find out if it is okay with someone else to post. No big spoiler, just an interesting observation. But I am going to wait till I hear back from someone first before I post that. It is a VERY rare occurrence on a Friday night to wrap early enough for me to be home by Midnight, as most Friday shoots often go till 2,3,4,5 AM. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at B.C. Place Stadium (better know as the exterior for S.T.A.R. Labs) on Thursday & Friday nights. This is part 2 of this 2 night set. You can find my 1st part blog HERE. On this second night. A lot happened, so I split it into 2 posts. This portion of the blog will focus on the later scenes. Which adds more context into the first part sets cliff hanger. As well, as show another scene that was shot late at night with some additions to the scene. The early part of the night was committed to continuing on from the other nights scene which seemed to mostly consist of a battle between Grant Gustin as The Flash and Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch / Mirror Master / Mirror Mistress. As I stated in the other blog, Candice Patton joined this scene on the 2nd night to do a scene where she can be seen holding hands with Eva, and even consoling her. As I also said in that post, you can just barely see The Flash reaching out towards Eva, but what was his plan? Well, his plan was.... to join her. To hold hands with her. The trio stood on the steps together looking out at something. What were they looking at? What had these former foes seemingly teaming up? It appears a plethora of Mirror Mistress clones. As there was somewhere in the range of 6 to 8 actresses running around dressed like Eva shooting their arm cannons at a variety of background who were running around in a panic. In the background, a car was burning while this all went on. Does the new trio team win this battle? It seems so. While we never see them fight them in any way other than to hold hands and stare towards them, eventually they act like they won, and it is over. There was also a scene shot that I did not have photos of, but I do have a video clip that I will post in the next week or so, where you see a couple of these Mirror Mistress clones with their arm cannons pointed at The Flash, who is kneeling on the ground between the pair. Eventually they leave as Eva takes over. That scene SEEMS to be immediately before Iris comes over to Eva. But I can not 100% confirm the airing order of those scenes. The late night scene, that happened after their midnight lunch break saw the same trio there, now joined by 2 additional characters. Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon (or is he.... VIBE??) and Danielle Panabaker in her 1st public shoot since becoming a new mom in real life, as Killer Frost join the trio on the stair case. Cisco pulls off his Vibe looking glasses as the group looks out towards the scene unfolding in front of them. The way they were lined up looks like any photo from a promo shot of a cast I have ever seen. Is Eva joining Team Flash as a regular? Or is this her farewell redemption arc, like Marlize Devoe a couple seasons ago?
Through out the 2 nights, they frequently would shoot their big reaction full view scenes on the staircase facing the street. But for the more close up takes, would move back into the plaza more, and film them while they were standing sideways from the street, probably due to the fact it would be unsafe for them to set up so close to the stairs to do these shots, thus why a few shots it seems like I am "behind/to the side" of them for what seems like the same scene. There will be plenty of video from these 2 nights to post in the next week or so, so come back to find those then, or you can subscribe to my Youtube channel and get them there when they drop. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at B.C. Place Stadium (better known as the exterior location of S.T.A.R. Labs) for a couple nights. The first night, they shot some scenes up on a stair case that some Arrow fans would recognize from a scene Oliver & Felicity did in season 3 (in the daytime though, and before major changes to the surrounding area), as well on the platform outside the stadiums gate there. These scenes seemed to consist of Grant Gustin as The Flash, and Efrat Dor as Eva McCulloch / Mirror Mistress. Very little of the scene could be seen for most of the night, but at one point I did see part of a scene being done where Eva seemed to be looking in 1 direction, then they had Grant move to the other side of her, and her turn around and look in that direction. They had more shooting to do that night, later on. But I went home when they had their lunch break INTENDING to come back in 90 minutes.... but instead I fell asleep and didnt wake up till the next day. So thats all I have to report from the first night... which is kind of a blessing, because the 2nd night was so big, I need to break it into 2 blogs. I do not know if any other cast worked that night, as I said, there was not a lot to see for most of the evening. Something I saw the 2nd night makes me think there could have been other cast on set the 1st night, but were positioned in a way that I never could see them. The second night, I saw much more going on..... although early on, there was not a lot to see.
All I knew early on was that Grant and Efrat were both on set again, along with Candice Patton as Iris West Allen, as well as at least 1 (as it turned out more than 1) person dressed in the same attire as Mirror Mistress. With Iris there in the same place as The Flash & Eva, this confirms that by this episode, Iris escapes the Mirrorverse. How, and when? That is something you will have to wait & see, as I did not see anything on these nights to suggest how it happened. The scene seemed to be very long, and dialogue heavy, as Eva stood facing away from me for quite a while, before eventually turning around, looking around with a very serious & solemn look. She then raises her arms, and Iris comes over and joins her. Grabbing her hand, and looking at Eva with a look of assurance. A bit later, a little more of the scene unfolded, and we see The Flash reaching out towards Eva. What is his plan? PART 2 blog with some spoilers is HERE. As well, in a week or so, there will probably be some video from these scenes up on my youtube channel. I will post those down below when they are ready as well. So check back in a few days for that. The Flash was on location for season 7 shooting at the Vancouver Concention Centre in downtown Vancouver for a couple days. Along with a shoot on top of a parkade 3 blocks away later on the 2nd day. While there was not much to see on the 1st day (I found the set, but between the rain soaked glass, and the position of props & crew, it was impossible to tell what was being shot), I did get a shot of a few crates with Black Hole logos on them. As well as some type of beam type machine, which I dont yet know what it is for. On the 2nd day, there was a lot more to see however. In the morning, a scene was shot right outside the convention centre with Candice Patton as Iris West Allen, along with Victoria Park as Kamilla Hwang. If you werent paying really close attention while there you might have missed that this was in the mirrorverse, as the garbage bins, and dog walking signs there were printed in reverse.... even down to the spray cans Kamilla uses to spray paint (in the proper direction) a message to Iris had the labels on in reverse. The scene had Kamilla finishing up her message to Iris, when Iris shows up at that spot, sees her, and walks over to her gives her a hug, and the pair talk for about a minute, before walking off together. Where the pair were heading after this is unknown, as the scene ends about 20 steps later. This scene is for episode 7X02, as you may be able to see by the clapperboard. It is directed by Alexandra LaRoche, who has directed 5 other The Flash episodes in the past, as well as 8 other Arrowverse episodes from Legends Of Tomorrow, Arrow & Supergirl. As with all the other sets I have been to so far, the covid-19 guidelines in place by our government seemed to be getting met, as all the crew were masked up, equipment and crew stations were well spread out, and in between takes the cast were also wearing their masks. If you want to see more photos (without some watermarks) from this set, you can find them on Just Jared HERE, as a photographer I know came down to shoot the set after I let him know they were there. After that scene wrapped, the production moved back inside the convention centre to resume filming interior scenes. Thankfully, this taxpayer built, city block long, building comes with a LOT of glass on it. Making it easy to see whats going on inside.... long as you know where to look. In this particular case, on a level generally used for large convention hall events. I do not know if this scene is for episode 2, or 1, as I did not think till well after the fact to check and find out. It wasnt till I got home & saw a photo I had taken which made me suspicious that they were shooting parts of 2 episodes on the same day (this is NOT that rare of an occurrence, probably happens a dozen or so times a season). Without going into painstaking detail how I got the info, and what that info was, lets just say, what I saw made me think there were scenes for 2 episodes being shot on this day. On set for this scene was Grant Gustin as The Flash, Efrat Dor as Mirror Mistress, and their stunt doubles. The first scene I saw shot there was pretty simple. It had The Flash standing about 100 feet away from Mirror Mistress, and he simply goes running at her. After they shot that scene, I left for a while as I wanted to get some other work done, and it looked like they were going to keep re-doing that scene. I came back about an hour & 1/2 later and things had changed slightly, now they had Grants double up on a rolling cart. He was prepping a scene that Grant himself would do a bit later, where he goes charging towards Mirror Mistress in a horisontal fashio, with his arm shoved forward. Considering Grants love of Superman, I wonder how much he wanted to put both arms out & pretend he was being Superman for the scene, as it very much looked like the way you would expect the Man Of Steel to fly through the air, except with out 1 arm extended. In the scene, The Flash flies towards Mirror Mistress, before she bobs & weaves his lunge, and The Flash goes flying by her, not making impact with her, as she looks on with an unimpressed look. After the wrapped that scene, I moved over to the 1 other shoot I knew they had. UNFORTUNATELY, I did not know exactly where it was till I had put in considerable time trying to figure it out. it was on top of a parkade that has been used a few times for other shows in the past. With no good sight lines, I eventually gave up. But not before I came across the 1 & only set of cast trailers out there. The trailer was for Danielle Panabaker, as it has the Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost tag on the door. While I never saw her there, the fact it was the only active trailer at the set made it pretty clear she was going to be in that scene on the roof. What was she doing there? Guess we'll have to wait & see. UPDATE: October 26, 2020, 1:15 PM - Video of the scenes has been added at the bottom of this post. The Flash season 7 will air Tuesday nights on The CW in the U.S. starting January 2021. You can now get exclusive first looks on our Patreon ahead of these blog posts.
